Requests for deletions
Items which do not meet Wikidata's notability policy can be deleted. Please nominate items for deletions on this page under the "Requests" section below. If it is obvious vandalism, just add the page here (gadget available), or ping an administrator to delete it. Contact can also be made with an administrator in #wikidata connect.

Before deleting items, check to ensure that they are not in use. This can be easily done with the "links" link below the header of each request.

Do not try to pre-emptively delete an item because its page is up for deletion on a Wikimedia project. The link will be removed by bots and reported here in the future if a deletion takes place.

Please use {{Q}} the first time you mention an item. Unless you use the gadget, please also ping the item's creator in your request (or ping the bot operator, when appropriate) if 1) the user is still active on Wikidata and 2) the user has contributed the majority of information in that item.

Please use Wikidata:Properties for deletion if you want to nominate a property for deletion.

This is not the place to request undeletion. Please use Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard instead. If help is needed with the merging of items, see the instructions at Help:Merge.

@Kjetil r: You should use Wikidata Sandbox (Q4115189), Second Wikidata sandbox (Q13406268) or test.wikidata.org for this purpose or take advantage of arbitrary access and create a real-world example. --Pasleim (talk) 13:02, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
I suppose Wikidata Sandbox (Q4115189) and/or Second Wikidata sandbox (Q13406268) could be used in some cases, but we also have a legitimate need for having a semi-stable dummy item that could be used for documentation purposes. I don't know test.wikidata.org very well, but is it really suitable for such use cases? For example, the birth date and death date of [1] do not appear in the infobox at [2]. WTF. If the wikiproject subpage exists as a local maintenance page, there should be no item about it in the main space. If its purpose is encyclopedic content, then it falls out of project scope and should be deleted (along with the item about it). In both case, I think this item should be deleted. -Ash Crow (talk) 00:55, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

Chris.urs-o: Totur River is mistake or bad identification. See map neer Eltyubyu village. Мастер теней (master of shadows), 19:52, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
Мастер теней. It could be an old name, more than two references should be ok. Creeks in mountaineous region become a river every 3 years. These people are very careful with their publications. How do you write this Bakarian god? Maybe type locality: реки Тотур, крепости Батикли (Кабардино-Балкария, Сев. Кавказ, Россия)? [4] [5] --Chris.urs-o (talk) 02:11, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

Мастер теней. Baksan valley or Baksan ruins? Lakargi Mt. (43° 16' 60 North , 43° 6' 0 East)? 43°N 43°E seems fine. These names have a tendency to difuse after hundred years: settler, farmhouse, village, mount, creek, outcrop etc. --Chris.urs-o (talk) 15:23, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
Chris.urs-o: maybe, maybe. But we don't have iron source: map or citate «Totur is tributary of Джылгысу». Russin oficial catalog not have river Totur, only ruins (Тотур, развалины: near 43°15' с.ш. 43°19' в.д.). Мастер теней (master of shadows), 00:09, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
Oki doki, I will write an email to Galuskina. If the situation is not clarified, I'll change Тотур from river to ruins. --Chris.urs-o (talk) 01:27, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
Citation: The name is given after the Totur River situated in Eltyubyu village, the starting point for the climb to Lakargi Mountain where the mineral is found. In addition, Totur is the name of a Balkarian god, and an ancient warrior, after whom the local Totur fortress near Tyrny-Auz and the clan tower, Totur-Kale, at Eltyubyu are named.
Galuskina's answer: "...In the first one I put a red target in the google map fragment showing an area of Eltybyu vilage. Locals call the tributary of Dzhylgysu as Tothur. Q56228301[edit]

surname prefixed with Ó or O (Q56228301) Hi! I deleted this item because it could totally be replaced by this query SELECT ?item ?label WHERE { ?item wdt:P31/wdt:P279* wd:Q101352 ; wdt:P1705 ?label ; FILTER regex (?label, "^(O|Ó)"). }

and seemed then totally out of scope. Jura1 (talkcontribslogs) disagree with me but did not provide any explanation for his need of this item. So since the case is not as obvious as I thought, I ask for fellow advice. Should we restaure this item? Thank you, --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 14:19, 31 August 2018 (UTC)

  • Looks like it's not equivalent: [6]. Some bug in your query?
    --- Jura 15:22, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
    • @Jura1: It is equivalent, if you look at the results it is names with O or O’ instead of O', so just remove the ' and this is exactly equivalent. • Pictogram voting comment.svg Comment As both statements are incorrect ("it could totally be replaced by this query", "it give you more results and without the need to add more data into Wikidata"), I think we can close this as not done: I count 180 items with the item compared to 178 with the query. Furthermore, the query can't find Q36861066, Q37323459, Q37502370, Q37506527, Q42717190, possibly due incorrect query design or a misunderstanding of the Irish prefix in some surnames. The three others are likely items I started fixing since I created the item. Eventually, we might have a better way to include the same information in a better way, but the approach seems reasonable for now. --- Jura 06:15, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

@Jura1, Harmonia Amanda: Thoughts? Mahir256 (talk) 18:30, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
Nope, should be kept separated, one is about a name and the other one is a disambiguation page. Two different things, so two items needed. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 18:33, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
Actually I do not understand, what means LUA (Q15184295? How it is relevant here?) and why Harmonia reverted my edits. They are both about the same family name (I checked orthography). Taivo (talk) 07:48, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
I think the page in German is a disambiguation page. This is not true for w:Erdinger. Accordingly, the items at Wikidata have different statements. --- Jura 07:59, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
First sentence "Edinger ist der Familienname folgender Personen" means "Edinger is family name of these persons". That means: German article is about family name. All three other articles (French, Polish, Portuguese) are also about family name. Taivo (talk) 17:31, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
I think you would need to remove the notice at the bottom of the page. Otherwise, German Wikipedia sees it as a disambiguation page. --- Jura 17:58, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

@JuTa: can provide some reference for this given name and its applicability to this person? If Commons uses some broken algorithm for categories, you need to fix this locally. Please don't merge items or make up names just to match Commons needs. --- Jura 08:47, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
Jura, you wanna have a ref that the given name of this person is Gustaf Wilhelm?? Just look to its wikipedia articles, not just Gustaf and not just Wilhelm. PS: The af is an Nobiliary particle that should not be taken into account for family or surnames. Its the swedish pendent of the english 'of'. regards --JuTa (talk) 17:34, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
Not sure what article you are looking at. If I get the Swedish one correctly, it just lists two given names and seems to contradict you explicitly on the last name (at least after 1805). --- Jura 18:49, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
You doubt that his name isnt Gustaf Wilhelm but Gustaf and Wilhelm seperatly, and he normaly not get called Gustaf Wilhelm but only either Gustaf or Wilhelm? Strange... --JuTa (talk) 18:56, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
We had Swedish editors complaining about this type of combination: Talk:Q20936782. --- Jura 19:07, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

But yes, it is the plan to create all those combinations, or as complete as possible. --JuTa (talk) 22:45, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
We probably understand the unquoted part differently. Maybe it's that the item they mention doesn't have an English label. BTW, there is no such plan. If a person has several names, please add several values to P735. Please stop making up names. We already deleted too many of your creations: Wikidata:Requests_for_deletions/Archive/2018/09/10#Q56545891, Wikidata:Requests_for_deletions/Archive/2018/09/10#Q56528921, Wikidata:Requests_for_deletions/Archive/2018/09/09#Q56529001. --- Jura 05:29, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── In this case, its absolutely two names, Gustaf and Wilhelm, contrary to, especially in the past, when some names were a mix of two original names, like Tor and Björn, which sometimes became Torbjörn. @Mahir256: I created whole system of concepts starting from dictionary of a specific language (Q55594385) so they should be considered as a whole: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AWhatLinksHere&target=Q55594385&namespace=0 I'm still newbie in how Wikidata works so perhaps I did it wrong by creating these items, but I suppose they can't be just deleted but they first have to be replaced by other equivalent statements. OTOH if we delete them then where we assign their wikipedia sites (like [7]) and commons categories (like [8]? KaMan (talk) 06:52, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
Yes, if missing, data should be added to the items, but [9] clearly needed another fix. There is no sitelink on the above item and commons categories don't need it. --- Jura 08:45, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

This one has been worked out by the ethnomusicologist Febo Guizzi, and we're are using these entities (we're querying the Wikidata SPARQL endpoint) for the project "Sound Archives and Musical Instruments Collections", held by the University of Turin and by some researchers of the MIMO project (http://www.mimo-international.com/MIMO/). The relevance and publicity of the item has also been referenced, so I ask to not delete the item. --GiorgioBevilacqua (talk) 11:05, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

@Wikizummo: The two classes being proposed here for deletion don't appear in the source given. In general, it would help a lot if you could integrate the items you've created into Wikidata better, for example, by using subclass of (P279) to link items together. Right now there are lots of items which aren't being used in Wikidata for anything, so it's not obvious why they should be kept, which will lead to people proposing them for deletion. - Nikki (talk) 15:34, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
@Nikki: My fault: actually this entity and the following (Q55719474) are not in the source given, since they were added by the cataloguer who is working at the "Sound Archives and Music Collections" project. In this project we developed a cataloguing system based on Collective Access, but since we wanted to make our data accessible and reusable by the online community, we decided to use Wikidata for the management of controlled vocabularies. So we created all Hornbostel-Sachs WD entities (MIMO and Guizzi's version), and developed a plugin (https://github.com/collectiveaccess/providence/commit/eb63850303169fa2f03703db3c5dd62b1e8541e3) that we use to query the Wikidata Sparql Endpoint from the Collective Access back end. But sometimes the cataloguer needs to extend the classification, as for Q56034651 and Q55719474. So I ask you how can I correctly reference them, since we still don't have produced any paper about it (I suppose we'll do it soon, at the end of the project). Maybe I can create an entity for the University project (https://www.slideshare.net/synapta/sound-archives-and-musical-instrument-collections) and use it for referencing?

For the integration in Wikidata: I'll link items with subclass of (P279), but it's a bit complicagted and will take a while. --GiorgioBevilacqua (talk) 13:27, 13 October 2018 (UTC)

@BohemianRhapsody, Wikizummo, Nikki: It's been over a month; thoughts on all of these? Mahir256 (talk) 16:37, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

@Wikizummo: (assumed the name on your signature was your username due to the lack of a space) Mahir256 (talk) 16:38, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
@Mahir256: The items that I have proposed here for deletion have a number of problems, that I have already pointed out on it.wiki to @Wikizummo: (see here):
  • All these items are classes of a "Guizzi classification" for musical instruments, but this classification doesn't have a page on it.wiki, nor it have in other wikis.
  • They all were/are using Hornbostel-Sachs classification (P1762), but this property - by definition - is meant to be used for HS codes only.
  • I don't know if "Guizzi classification" has notability, but if it has, it should have a different property.
  • On the contrary, if "Guizzi classification" hasn't notability, all of these items must be deleted, because they would be useless.
  • Otherwise, if Guizzi names are just some different names for classes already existing in HS classifications, thus we should be keep this name and use them as alias for already existing object.
--BohemianRhapsody (talk) 16:29, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
@Mahir256, BohemianRhapsody, Nikki: Hi everyone, the Guizzi classification is one of the instrument classifications based on the Hornbostel-Sachs Classification. I agree with @BohemianRhapsody: that using the property Hornbostel-Sachs classification (P1762) for Guizzi Classification would be misleading. So:
  • I proposed (see here) to change the property from Hornbostel-Sachs classification (P1762) to catalog code (P528) with qualifier catalog (P972). (here is an example: Q56034788)
  • As suggested by Nikki, I planned to link entities using subclass of (P279).
  • About the notability of Guizzi classification: Febo Guizzi was one an ethnomusicologist expert in HS, as a matter of fact he organized one of the most important conferences about HS in the last year (here, the program: https://www.fondazionelevi.it/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Programma-HS.pdf). Guizzi's classification is being published by the Fondazione Ugo e Olga Levi (here is the online version that I used for referencing the Classification in Wikidata: [10])
  • Some researchers of the University of Turin are actually using the Guizzi Classification for the Sound Archives and Musical Instrument Collection Project (see [11] and [12]). They are directly querying Wikidata's SPARQL endpoint during the cataloguing process. So, if these entities will be deleted, we should redefine the project's management of controlled vocabularies.

@Mahir256: There were many pages about the books of a writer. That writer is notable as we can write an article about him and it is there. But all books are not notable and this wiki data item was also attached with one of the book named "Virasat". Since, we have deleted this article on wikipedia and now I think this item is not connected with any wikipedia page.☆★Sanjeev Kumar (talk) 13:44, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
@संजीव कुमार: If it is an actual book by a writer and the item is not otherwise part of a network of spam or self-promotion, then the item may stay on Wikidata. It would of course be helpful if more information was added to it. Mahir256 (talk) 05:25, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
@Mahir256: Author doens't have much credibility, but it is ok to make a wiki-page about the author. Book is not notable et al. If you will search "virasat ramdarash mishra" at google, you will not find anything on google. I searched on different online shopping sites and couldn't find the book. After that we have deleted the page on hiwiki. Since, I don't think this item is useful for us but even if wikidata find them useful, I don't have any problem in keeping them. I don't know much about deletion policy of wikidata about books.☆★Sanjeev Kumar (talk) 06:56, 8 November 2018 (UTC)

Is it derogatory? Or is it only perceived as derogatory by the nominator? If I called someone a Scream Queen or a Reality Show contestant, some would be insulted. Some people get insulted by the term Hair Metal or Bro-Country. No different than the nominator's phrase, used in Japan in insulting some TV personalities. The emphasis being the word some. How is it an insult to some but not others. I know many 1980s hair metal bands that hate the term Hair Metal and deny being part of it. Outside of the IP edits, I'm curious as to why Olga is adding and removing the same pieces of information. It makes it hard to even know where to begin if I wanted to fix the item. Lazypub (talk) 17:48, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
I support deleting the item. But I would also support a block of the creator. It doesn't appear that they are hear to contribute. Lazypub (talk)

Maybe we could involve User:Olga Byrjukova, rather than talking about her, and trying to block her instead of offering advice? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:47, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Maybe I am just more familiar with the blocking habits on WP. I forget the code, but there is a pre-selected nomination reason "user not here to contribute".
The same user that created and populated the item has also blanked the item. The only thing left was the title, which I just removed. Lazypub (talk)

concentrated solar power (Q56761669): (delete | history | links | entity usage | logs)

Deleting item: (Q56761669) formerly called concentrated solar power, by merging it back to: thermal solar power station (Q285927) . Same topic. Same meaning of titles. Item is currently empty of links and content as I moved them back to thermal solar power station (Q285927) . --Alcea setosa (talk) 02:12, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

To me a " thermal solar power station" (a building complex, subclass of thermal power station (Q200297)) and "concentrated solar power" (a type of technology, subclass of solar thermal energy (Q303288))"... are not the same thing, but if this folk insists... It is empty of links because Alcea setosa removed them. strakhov (talk) 06:05, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
1 "It is empty of links because Alcea setosa removed" Yes as stated by me above I removed them. 2 "but if this folk insists" I am not insisting, but the item is now empty of content and by only adding the technology subclass it may still contain to little information to be very useful. Is there a (de facto) policy to not mix buildings and technology?--Alcea setosa (talk) 07:44, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
By the way, if they were the "same everything", Q56761669 should be merged, not deleted. strakhov (talk) 06:15, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
OK, and you oppose both deletion and merge but favour merge over deletion?--Alcea setosa (talk) 07:54, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
I favour keeping both of them, because they are different things, and even lumping the sitelinks together in one of them... the extra item would still have structural value. And I do not understand what's the point of blanking an entire item (labels included) before requesting its deletion. strakhov (talk) 11:02, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
For all intents and purposes they are the same thing. You can't have this type of technology without a building or structure, this is true of a lot of things such as item concentrated photovoltaics (Q2065094). On the other hand there are many instances were a distinction is made such as combined heat and power plant (Q1601458) / cogeneration (Q221620). For structural value the items should at least link to each other, as far as I can see concentrated solar power (Q56761669) has never linked to thermal solar power station (Q285927) so I did not see much structural value in it. The label concentrated solar power is in conflict with the Also known as section of thermal solar power station (Q285927) as CSP is listed as an alternativ name there. CSP is an abbreviation of concentrated solar power.--Alcea setosa (talk) 23:06, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
I do not know your purposes or intents, neither do I care. Facts are
1) a technology and a type of plant are not the same thing. Same way nuclear power (Q12739) not equal to nuclear power plant (Q134447).
2) Q56761669 was linked (even after your "intervention" removing valid sitelinks and lumping them together) in thermal solar power station (Q285927), throught "facet of (P1269)".
3) There are different articles in es.wikipedia ([14] vs [15]) for the "concentrated thermal plant" and for the "concentrated thermal technology" ( and I did not create them).
4) the en.wikipedia sitelink Concentrated solar power (and several others: it, gl,...) is not aligned with its wikipedia label ("thermal solar power station) nor with its subclass of (P279) values.
So please, stop wasting people's time merging things that should not be merged. strakhov (talk) 11:59, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
You do give the impression of not caring by not bother to try to understanding my answer, but anyway since we are talking about it here I am not sure I follow your line of thought given you started a sentence by "To me".--Alcea setosa (talk) 22:42, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
3) Yes thank you for your very recent contribution [16] hope you did not find it a terrible waste of time this time to find that somewhat obscure article in Spanish Wikipedia. When you created this item concentrated solar power (Q2065094) in September 2018 and, removed the sitelinks to enwiki, eswiki, iowiki and itwiki from thermal solar power station (Q285927) you did not add any new sitelinks. So you effectively split an item and for what reason that is my point, not to link from an article in eswiki anyway as you did not.. --Alcea setosa (talk) 00:24, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
4) It is a minor issue if the title of some sitelinks do not correspond perfectly to the label, what matters more is the subject of the articles. The original label was ("concentrated solar power) added back in 2013 and unceremoniously changed to ("concentrated solar power station) in 2015. Most sitelink titles where still not referring to power plants specifically, still no one split the item. Statements ("Solar thermal power plants" and "thermal power station") where added in 2013 and 2014. Also what the gl.wikipedia article title "Central térmica solar" refer to appear to be a power plant as in "Central térmica".--Alcea setosa (talk) 03:35, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
2) My concern here is that concentrated solar power (Q2065094) is not linked to thermal solar power station (Q285927), not the other way around. That is if you are searching for "Concentrated solar power" and find concentrated solar power (Q2065094) all that is there are links to Spanish Wikipedia (and at most some but not all other language Wikipedias with articles on this topic) and no links to thermal solar power station (Q285927) and the other language Wikipedias with articles on this topic. --Alcea setosa (talk) 04:58, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

The point of separating different concepts is... precisely that. Anyway, since it happens to be different articles for each item in the same Wikipedia... your merging/deleting crusade (TBH I do not get much your line of thought either) is doomed, whether it concerns you an item being linked from that one or vice versa... Or not. strakhov (talk) 23:26, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

Q52152046[edit]

Walter «Guacho» Artízala Vernaza (Q52152046): (delete | history | links | entity usage | logs)

The truth, I am at the crossroads of renaming the article. Disappear this name, delete this element. Rename it to Alias Guacho. Because there are not enough elements to verify that the name is this, only certain press strips. They also speculate like us. In Ecuador we have certain government offices, where you can consult data of a public nature (Webs: https://servicios.registrocivil.gob.ec/cdd/ OR https://declaraciones.sri.gob.ec/sri-en-linea/#/SriDeclaracionesWeb/ConsultaImpuestoRenta/Consultas/consultaImpuestoRenta). As it is: birth, income tax returns, and a person's identity card. In none, this element appears. And that we have the full name data, and its date of birth, provided by the press. So, the application itself, tries to erase the current name or change it, and in the section (also known as) leave the name Walter Patricio Artizala Vernaza.
