I think you (or someone else) needs to continue the work on Turkey under Wikidata:WikiProject Govdirectory. Your presentation was interesting, but I didn't quite follow into the SparQL details.

Ainali (talkcontribs)

Ok! Thanks for joining and asking good questions!

I didn't choose Swedish at school

Hello Ainali,
I have a doubt, could you check the S1 gloss in veranda (L298936) and tell me if it's correct Swedish, please? Thanks in advance.

Ainali (talkcontribs)

I am a native speaker, but I am not sure what the definition of a "veranda" in Swedish is :)

Eihel (talkcontribs)

According to Svenska Akademiens Ordbok Q193508, it is about: glazed extension of a building. Are these the right words in Swedish in S1, otherwise you could put the right gloss. Plz

Ainali (talkcontribs)

Great, I polished it!

Call for participation in the interview study with Wikidata editors

Kholoudsaa (talkcontribs)

Dear Ainali,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King’s College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research that develops a personalized recommendation system to suggest Wikidata items for the editors based on their interests and preferences. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I would love to talk with you to know about your current ways to choose the items you work on in Wikidata and understand the factors that might influence such a decision. Your cooperation will give us valuable insights into building a recommender system that can help improve your editing experience.

Participation is completely voluntary. You have the option to withdraw at any time. Your data will be processed under the terms of UK data protection law (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018). The information and data that you provide will remain confidential; it will only be stored on the password-protected computer of the researchers. We will use the results anonymized to provide insights into the practices of the editors in item selection processes for editing and publish the results of the study to a research venue. If you decide to take part, we will ask you to sign a consent form, and you will be given a copy of this consent form to keep.

If you’re interested in participating and have 15-20 minutes to chat (I promise to keep the time!), please either contact me at [] or [] or use this form with your choice of the times that work for you.

I’ll follow up with you to figure out what method is the best way for us to connect.

Please contact me if you have any questions or require more information about this project.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Ainali (talkcontribs)

Cool project! Did you know about :en:User:SuggestBot that does something similar on English Wikipedia?

There are also some adjacent thoughts in the Growth team's Newcomer tasks.

Since the last post on the blog is from 2017 and it's only about the Wikipedia Weekly (Q13835647), I thought it should be removed. But, as the founder, I defer to you of course ;-)

I think I get how you see it now. The WWN is based on WW. WW will never again be the umbrella/brand for a new podcast (episode). So maybe modelling the link between WW & WWN with replaces (P1365) and replaced by (P1366) would make that clearer? Because then it makes sense that WWN has subsumed the online presence (twitter, website, ...) of WW. I say this as someone who only recently learned of these projects...

Ainali (talkcontribs)

Oh, you are right, I misread the label. It's correct that it is not the website of the network, which is the umbrella and there have been new episodes, but unfortunately not posted to the website. I'll undo my undo.

Why add en label to >100 languages?

Llywelyn2000 (talkcontribs)
Ainali (talkcontribs) (talkcontribs)

LA2 (talkcontribs)

Aha! Dessutom behövs mallar för proper nouns (Göteborg, USA m.fl.), adverb och andra ordklasser.

Thanks for sharing your Sparql request

PAC2 (talkcontribs)

Two weeks you have shared a SPARQL request showing how to call the Wikipedia API in a SPARQL query (Wikidata:Status updates/2021 02 15).

Thanks to you, I've discovered this feature and it has helped me do develop a new tool which counts the number of links in an article by gender and develop a small tool in French w:fr:Modèle:Indice de diversité de genre.

SPARQL is such a powerful tool. PAC2 (talk) 07:43, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

Ainali (talkcontribs)

Wow! That's a pretty cool way of using it. Thanks for sharing!

Hey, Jan,

Here I am, pinging you, as promised. I'd love to join one of yours live editing Wikidata sessions.

We can think about some interesting topic.

I am really open to any topic, but it would be cool if it were somehow pandemic-related ː)

I saw you do this on Friday evenings (or at least the last one was on a Friday). Friday is kind of a busy day around here, but I am available anytime from 17ː30 to 00ː00 in Netherlands time.

Anyways, I hope this worksǃ

Ainali (talkcontribs)

Hello Tiago! Thanks for pinging! I would love to do a stream that is pandemic-related. So far we have done two types of streams, one where we just edit for around 30 minutes and talk about it, and one that is an editing relay of sorts. We could do any style of these, or something else if you have any ideas. For the relay, we should be six persons in total. Since you are the guest, you get the honour to pick the topic and format, me and Abbe98 would just be happy to have you on.

Abbe98 (talkcontribs)

Hello Tiago, most often we do our live edits of Saturdays or Sundays, but both Fridays and Mondays have happened as well. Cheers!

TiagoLubiana (talkcontribs)

Thanksǃ Sunday and saturday would work even better here.

I am really fine with anything COVID-19 related, really. This dojo/relay of sorts format looks cool, but the just editing looks more straightforward.

I would go for the straightforward, I guess, at least this time ː)

Ainali (talkcontribs)

Let's do it the straightforward way @TiagoLubiana. Just think of a topic you want to to show off editing for about 20-30 minutes. Friday was an exception, we usually do Saturdays at 19.00 UTC. How's this Saturday, and if that's to close, how's the one coming after that? (The same question to you @Abbe98 :) )

Abbe98 (talkcontribs)

This Saturday works for me!

TiagoLubiana (talkcontribs)

This Saturday, 19 UTC, ok, that worksǃ I will think about a topic.

What should I do now? Any things that I need to know?

See you tomorrow, then ː)

Ainali (talkcontribs)

Could you send me a wikimail so that I get your email? I'll send you a link that you connect to. We use the service so all you need is a web browser (seems to work best with Chrome). Then we'll meet there online about ten minutes before we go live. I'll create the event later tonight and post some links here in case you want to share them.

TiagoLubiana (talkcontribs)

Oh, no problemsǃ We can do it next Saturday. Thank you for organizing it anyways..

Ainali (talkcontribs)
Abbe98 (talkcontribs)

Sorry, waited until last minute as I have gotten better but I'm afraid I will need to cancel tonight as well.

Ainali (talkcontribs)

Ok, let's just go ahead with two of us then!

TiagoLubiana (talkcontribs)

Oh, okay, let's go ahead, thenǃ I have been looking into COVID-19 Vaccine Candidates on Wikidata, maybe that can be the topic?

There is a template on enwiki, and I have some more data sources that could be used ː Would that be an okay topic?

Hope you get fully better, Abbe98ǃ

Ainali (talkcontribs)

That seems like a very interesting topic indeed!

Hello. Thanks a lot. It was very exciting and I enjoy it a lot. I'm attending Wikimania. I reached you via Telegram. You can contact me there to meet. I notice that actually, the code no was not used and the 185 points from that language should not count, I imagine. I was not done with bad faith or intention. Regards.
