--DangSunM (talk) 22:46, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Request for feedback on my GSoC'14 proposal
Hi 분당선M,
I am planning to work on the project titled "Tools for mass migration of legacy translated wiki content" this summer under Google Summer of Code. I have drafted a proposal for the same over the past few weeks. This project is going to help the translation adminstrators like you in a great way, as it would completely automate the tedious manual task of preparing a page for translation and then importing the translations into the Translate extension. You can check the proposal page for detailed information on how I plan to accomplish this.
As you would be an end user of this tool, it would be great if you could go through the proposal and provide feedback/suggestions. Your feedback would definitely help me improve the proposal as well help in creating an even better tool. You can do the same on the discussion page of the proposal or reply here, whichever is convenient for you. I look forward to hearing from you! Thank you!
P.S: I need to submit the proposal to Google by March 19, 2014.

Disambiguation pages
When you mass create disambiguation pages with Widar, can you please add instance of (P31) -> Wikimedia disambiguation page (Q4167410). I see this has not been done for the items you created a month ago[2]. Thanks, John Vandenberg (talk) 10:37, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
- i am doing some of them from yesterdayss creation i will try as many as i can--DangSunM (talk)`
- Can you please also add the description of 'Wikimedia disambiguation page', as that is shown in the search results, saving time for people trying to find and remove duplicates. Is that possible using the Widar tools? John Vandenberg (talk) 10:52, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

- @ John Vandenberg sadly, I can't add description using widar tools, anyway now I am going to adding P31:Q4167410 or P31:Q5 for items that I create frequently (new verson of widar allows it).--DangSunM (talk) 22:15, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

- In last month, my item creation work was not creating disambiguation page. Anyway I am busy to doing that. Somebody can doing that process if someone wants:)--DangSunM (talk) 01:06, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Dab dups
Hi, a lot of the pages you are creating are duplicates. This especially happens for three letter acronyms, which most Wikipedias have.
- TMH (Q16884741) dup of TMH (Q3979631)
- TLW (Q16884739) dup of TLW (Q2384510)
- SGA (Q16883039) dup of SGA (Q406912)
- SGG (Q16883040) dup of SGG (Q2205926)
It also happens for person and place names in another language. i.e. a dab page for a German word in English Wikipedia will almost certainly be a duplicate.
There are also many English words which need dab pages on all languages, and the item has already been created because of imports from other languages first.
- Shit (Q16883221) dup of Shit (Q185683)
John Vandenberg (talk) 02:39, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

- Please see this: "The quality of bot-created items should not be much less than the quality of human-created ones. As it isn't acceptable to flood Wikidata with manually created dups it is even less acceptable to do so with a bot flag." That bot had the bot flag removed for not following WD:BOT. The Creator tool has been recently improved to not create duplicates for exactly the same label or sitelink in a different language. That helps, however it is not the tools responsibility to comply with the bot policy - it is your responsibility to use the tool appropriately. The tool cant filter out the duplicates in different languages, which requires having a basic understanding of language of the topic. If you need help filtering, maybe ask user:Jura1; I have spot checked hundreds of their Widar item creations and only found a few duplicates; duplicates that even a human could easily create. John Vandenberg (talk) 13:37, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- AFAIK, he uses WiDAR to mass-create item, so commenting here is useless, as he has no control on WiDAR source code. Maybe better to ask Magnus Manske. — by ReviComplaint? at 14:00, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- That doesnt matter. The bot operator of WiDAR provides the list of articles to be created. The bot operator needs to remove articles from the list if they are might be duplicates. Two WiDAR-enabled bot accounts have been blocked recently for high duplicate rates, and one of them had the bot flag removed. John Vandenberg (talk) 14:08, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- OK. I understand now, So I have to made less than 5%(very less) duplicates using flooding account, right? I will filtering but, I was say before that WiDAR provides the list of articles to be created but it provides many lists I can't look computer to manage the items every single minutes to remove and monitoring them. So I will not going to doing work for now. (other than items from Korean Wikipedia.) for items from Korean wikipedia, I will try my best to manage less duplicates, but 0% duplicates are impossible i think.--DangSunM (talk) 22:37, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- + I should say sorry for 관인생략 also. He said do not create duplicates before. --DangSunM (talk) 22:37, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

- Hey everyone, it's rare these small sections come along but there is a bit of interesting news to get across which one line under 'noteworthy stuff' won't be the best for. For the next 6 summaries, they will be translatable at Wikidata. This is an interesting idea which was first proposed on the delivery page and on Wikidata-l by Base. This is purely a trial and if you all want the summaries to remain translatable, please participate! You can view the first translated summary (hopefully) here! Also sorry for this one being late :)

Merge-project requiring language skills
Dear Wikidatan,
Even though Wikidata phase 1 (replacing interlanguage by Wikidata) is officially finished, there are still a lot a duplicate items that should be merged. Projects to list possible duplicates (and therefore possibles mergers) have been started by users such as Pasleim with User:Pasleim/projectmerge and Ivan A. Krestinin with User:Ivan A. Krestinin/To merge. Those bot-generated lists do however contain quite some false positives and therefore still need a human eye to decide whether to merge or not.
Since you are an administrator on Wikidata with knowledge of the Korean language, User:Ivan A. Krestinin/To merge/kowiki might benefit from your help. As said, it lists couples of WD items that might possibly be merged. If you are already involved in these projects or not interested, I am sincerely sorry for bothering you.
With kind regards, FakirNL (talk) 23:45, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

- @분당선M: I was about to ask the same for Yarkand (Q14126970) (probably merged into Yarkand (Q12832321)). If you don't want to be bothered to resolve existing links, wouldn't it be better to redirect it rather than delete? Please see also Wikidata:Requests for comment/Redirect vs. deletion. whym (talk) 02:13, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

But the bot fails on these items. Fail is caused by comment "Does not meet WD:N" instead of "Merged with Qxxxxx". Redirect instead of delete is another acceptable way. — Ivan A. Hello, please be check that items are not in use before deleting them (see Q3769818). It is sometimes boring to do that, but now that we have redirects, deletion requests are much less numerous, so that should be more manageable. --Zolo (talk) 07:36, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

P132 closure
Hello DangSunM,
Thanks for having it taken upon you to look into this.
The problem with this request is that it was open for quite some time, it became stale at some point, and a "new proposal" was added to it later on. It's not even sure that people who voted once are still active user or haven't changed theirs minds. So, I'm not convinced that a mere count of vote is appropriate. Would you at least attempt to address these elements in your closure? That would be most helpful. --- Jura 08:30, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
- I will reopen the new proposal only. However, P132 will still ongoing to delete.--DangSunM (talk) 15:06, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
