Hi. There is currently an (English) Wikipedia page for two mountain climbers from the 1900s: Cora Johnstone Best and Audrey Forfar Shippam. Each climber has a redirect from their individual name to this combo page: Cora is here and Audrey is here. There are also existing wikidata entries for all three items:

I'm trying to link their individual wikidata entries to their redirect pages (using badges) but it looks like one would need admin access to do so. Unless I'm missing another technique, would someone be able to fix this? If nothing else, this would fix the individual women from showing up on the Women in Red pages (as they do not have a linked Wikipedia article coming off of their wikidata entries, even though a page for them does exist). Let me know if I can explain any of this better. Thanks! CaptainAngus (talk) 02:10, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and added the intentional site links to redirects for Cora Johnstone Best (Q99691393) and Audrey Forfar Shippam (Q99691842).
I think you need be a confirmed user to make those edits. Once you reach 50 edits you automatically get autoconfirmed. It looks like you're pretty close with 37 edits on Wikidata. You can also request to be added to the confirmed group at Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Other rights#Confirmed. -- William Graham (talk) 21:43, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

Report concerning user:CFA1877

At the end of an discussion in c:Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/User_problems#Olivenza, about the territorial dispute of Olivença\Olivenza between Portugal and Spain, i informed this user, in good faith that i had moved a sightly compacted version of a text present in C:Category:Olivenza to the Wikidata item about Olivença do to that same discussion, as it was a npov description, and because he claimed it was redundant, as he said in that discussion that "Then, there is an entry in the category that comes from the time when Wikidata did not exist. I consider that it is not necessary now, since Wikidata exists".

But now, in what i can only describe as an act of bad faith by his part, he started reverting my moves and, not happy in doing it, he is now accusing me of a political agenda as you he that "Wikidata is not a platform for political purposes".

The problem, besides his reverts of my npov addictions like changing the english description of "municipality of Spain, disputed territory" to "de facto municipality of the spanish province of Badajoz, claimed de jure by Spain and Portugal" as it is more accurate and neutral to the claims of both countries (disclosure as i am portuguese), is his constant accusations to other users of having a political agenda.

I understand this now, reading this discussion, on his wikidata usertalkpage, where other users complained that he is also using the accusation of "political purposes" on other users edits.

Just yestarday (January 30 2024) he accused and reverted another wikidata user addictions of the asturian (a regional language in spain) description of "categoría de Wikimedia" to around 500 similar items, claiming that those addicttions were made for "political purposes" (a quick search shows that he has engaged in this behaviour since around December 19 2023). Just as an example he reverts all of them with the "justification" of "Empty editions, Wikidata is not a platform for political purposes. Return to the previous stable version". I ask that someone reverts his edit wars in this particular item, but also in those related to the asturian language. Thank you. Tm (talk) 00:21, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

And now, after i informed him, as i should, of this page he reverted my text with accusations of "Trolling, Wiki-hounding". Tm (talk) 00:24, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
Comment The user Tm has brought here a conflict originated in Commons (1, 2), a conflict that has lasted for years and that has involved several Commons users, not just me. The user Tm has an obsession with Olivenza and a supposed international problem that does not exist. Today in Commons an administrator has made a decision, Tm has accepted it reluctantly and after that he has come here to convey the conflict as "revenge." But it is not the first time that the user Tm extends the original conflict in Commons to Wikidata. He did it in 2021 (see here), on that occasion with user @Lopezsuarez: as the protagonist in circumstances very similar to the current ones.
Finally, in my case, user Tm is out of control, writing me dozens of messages on Commons and now Wikidata, which I consider to be a clear case of wiki-houding. That is the exceptional reason why I have allowed myself to withdraw his messages (apart from the fact that he spuriously mixes up unrelated topics). CFA1877 (talk) 00:31, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
It seems that you are reashing the same accusations that you made in Commons. First, as you say that in "Commons an administrator has made a decision", you also had to accept all the categories that you tried to delete will stay.
You say that "The user Tm has an obsession with Olivenza and a supposed international problem that does not exist.", yet your first deletions on Commons in C:Category:Olivenza were made in November, but you reverted again today, just one day after i readded what you had deleted in November (so my edits were three months after your first deletions and your second edits were just i day after my ones). Second you accuse me of "an obsession with Olivenza and a supposed international problem that does not exist.". Funny that i made probably less then 200 edits anout Olivença and portuguese irredentism when i have 4 012 014 edits in Commons (yes, my edits in Commons are in the several millions). So, i am "an obsession with Olivenza" that edits related with it (even if poorly related) is 0.005% (so around 0,5% of 1%)
But now you add that "that he has come here to convey the conflict as "revenge". I have not linked above, but i told you in good faith what i had done as can be seen by this link
i even used this link to tell you exactly and in good faith of what i had done here in Wikidata. It was you that acted in bad faith and started reverting my edits and accusing my edits of having a political agenda (as you did the day previous to other user in an unrelated matter)
You forget to mention that, in C:Category:Olivenza, one user reverted edits like your in 2007, another user and administrator added in 2008 one of the categories that you are trying to surpress, and that the same administrator protected the page in 2009 for similar edits (that repeated itself in 2010, and reverted by 3 other users besides me). That in 2013 another reversion by an administrator of edits similar to yours
That in 2015 the present categories were added by another user and there have been there since then.
You also forget to mention that almost all (or all?) the users you say are deleted these categories are spanish and that there are zero portugueses that readded those categories besides me.
You also forget to mention that you were attempting to delete any mention of it territorial dispute
You also know perfectly well that this was previously discussed in Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/User_problems/Archive_103#Tm_and_his_edits_concerning_files_related_to_Olivenza and that then there was no objections by any administrator to them. Also this edits that you tried to delete, as it is even know after the decision of the administrator, were not added by me but other user in 2015 and have been here since then.
Then so much so to your accusation of me being obsessed with the question of Olivença. All smoke and no meat.
You also claimed that this is "a supposed international problem that does not exist" when en:Olivenza#Claims_of_sovereignty or, supreme irony, the spanish wikipedia article es:Cuestión de Olivenza. Tm (talk) 01:05, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
Will someone comment on the edit wars of this user accusing other several users of having a political agenda and act with a proper action? Wikidata:Administrators'_noticeboard/Archive/2024/01#Report_concerning_User:CFA1877 a complain of the same kind, made by other users against the same user, for deleting hundreds of desciptions in austurian, including descriptions as simple as the asturian two words translation of the description "wikipedia category" (a regional laguage in Soain), with the same excuse of saying other users have an political agenda.
This user. under the accusations made against others of an "political agenda", is surpressing a regional spanish region and trying to hide a territoroal dispute between Spain and Portugal. The pattern of his edits speaks of why this user does this edits. Tm (talk) 20:08, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

It contains the minor and patch versions for those like iOS 15.8.1 for iOS 15 or iOS 16.6 for iOS 16. But there have been incidents where a version like iOS 17 was put in there. The items exist because for example an iPhone 8 receives new versions of iOS 16 but not the latest versions of iOS 17.

I thought it was made by different IPs, but this one has reversed every single wrong edits I fixed.

https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2A01:C23:BCB9:C00:29EE:F6D1:17ED:B05D

So I suspect this is one specific user from different IPs reinserting their wrong edits. So I'd like to either have those pages protected or the IP banned. Punkt64 (talk) 19:53, 10 February 2024 (UTC)

All the participants of an editathon blocked

FYI, see Wikidata:Requests for checkuser/Case/Vcldead. A checkuser was performed on all participants of an editathon. On what grounds is unclear. All participants and the organizer were blocked. I unblocked all the accounts. Multichill (talk) 20:16, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

@Multichill Thanks for sorting that out. I feel like we've seen a number of false positive checkuser cases involving editathons. This must be very disruptive to the events and hurt outreach efforts. The pattern of one experienced editor and a bunch of newbies all editing from the same IP with similar topics should not automatically cause a blanket block-and-delete unless there is some specific sign of abuse.
It does not appear that we have either a local guide for how to run an editathon (cf Wikipedia:Edit-a-thon (Q14931534)) or a local Wikipedia:Event coordinator (Q55225821) user group. Bovlb (talk) 21:12, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
The closest I found to an editathon guide was Wikidata:Planning a Wikidata workshop, but it doesn't seem to contain any advice that would help with this specific problem. It does point to the Programs & Events Dashboard; I don't know whether this event was listed there, or if checkuser procedures include checking there. Bovlb (talk) 21:19, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
A problem occurs when the organizer is clueless about Wikidata and basically sets up their attendees for failure. I'm talking about a different case by the way. Infrastruktur (talk) 22:12, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
What exactly are they clueless about? All projects bans sockpuppeting Trade (talk) 00:50, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
But merely being in the same place and making related edits does not constitute sockpuppetry, though. –FlyingAce✈hello 02:29, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@FlyingAce: It does, in a way. If they do not declare their accounts, it is not recognized as legitimate multiple account use under WD:AA. Importantly, this makes their edits indistinguishable from the numerous promotional sockfarms we constantly get, which also exhibit the pattern of common-topic new item creation on artists or people without wikilinks with social media links in close temporal proximity.--Jasper Deng (talk) 09:40, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@Infrastruktur: My proposal is that we enact a new guideline requiring that all edit-a-thons be publicly declared in advance, or that participants explicitly declare themselves as edit-a-thon participants on their userpages. None of that was present here until after the blocking so I had no grounds to assume this was an edit-a-thon beforehand. I can draft an RfC if others think this would be a good idea.--Jasper Deng (talk) 09:46, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: it seems like a very bad and administrative non-solution (in December an edit-a-thon was declared on meta m:Event:Wikimedia Training Tour in GIEHPCI Community and you still blocked the users, Topic:Xvqk466x0w48g9lb ; plus, what would prevent sockpuppets to falsely declare they are doing an edit-a-thon? and even a legitimate edit-a-thon may need to delete non-notable items, the edit-a-thon is more a symptom than the true problem here). For me, the solution is more along the lines of being careful and humane, for instance to warn the users before blocking them: it takes a few minutes and give them a chance to explain (which seems very basic courtesy to me). Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 10:54, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@VIGNERON: Why should I be expected to go to Meta? Meta is not the place for declaring them. If socks illegitimately claim an edit-a-thon, then there's no experienced user vouching for it and it's obvious. Asking people to compromise their privacy to explain is even more of a non-solution and is unnecessary additional work.--Jasper Deng (talk) 11:03, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: if an edit-at-thon is on multiple Wikimedia projects, Meta is the usual place to declare it (and it's avoiding duplicating the declaration on each and every projects). I don't understand « Asking people to compromise their privacy [...] », declaring an edit-a-thon afterwards on a need-to-know basis is less work and the exact same amount of privacy disclosure than having to *always* declare it beforehand. Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 11:08, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@VIGNERON: If I ask them what is going on, then I will need them to explain an IP and/or UA match with another user. I would need them to explain particular IP addresses, or they might ask me about the addresses to explain. That fact alone is not something that can be put out in public. I cannot be reasonably expected to scour Meta for editathons because that wiki is only for cross-wiki situations, and when I pull up local contributions it doesn't show up. If even one user declared an edit-a-thon locally, this wouldn't have happened. Why is it unreasonable to ask the sponsor to do so?--Jasper Deng (talk) 11:12, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: I strongly disagree. You did put in public information on Wikidata:Requests for checkuser/Case/Vcldead, why would it be a problem to do the exact same thing but wait a little bit for an explanation before blocking? And no, it's not unreasonable to ask (in fact, communicating more is exactly what I want and would solve this situation) but it's too much to make it a mandatory policy. Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 11:36, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@VIGNERON: I didn't have to disclose their IP addresses. Asking someone to explain a relationship is not the same as declaring a result. Since I could not reasonably have identified the sponsor just from the data I had, it was on the sponsor to be the first to declare the edit-a-thon. With a multilingual template that would be very easy to do.--Jasper Deng (talk) 11:43, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: you still don't have to (and you shouldn't) disclose their IP addresses. And yes, it's not the same, it's better to have all information before acting (either before blocking or even better, before doing the CU), especially as in this case the claim that they are the same was false because you didn't had enough information. Since one of the account had a lot more and older edits than the other, it was a reasonable clue that a could be the sponsor (or at least, that he could know and explain more about the situation). BTW, I still don't understand the "Please move the case under Vcldead". If your policy proposal is only for the sponsor to declare the edit-a-thon, it's less of a burden and it may be doable (but still I don't think that it should be mandatory). Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 12:44, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@VIGNERON: Yes, we can limit it to just the sponsor. But asking for an explanation on a user talk page invites the user to out themselves. On the balance of probabilities, making this demand for what seem to be obvious sockfarms is not reasonable. The moving of the case under Vcldead was because they were the oldest account identified in the results (remember, the results only cover the past 90 days).--Jasper Deng (talk) 20:34, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
In response to VIGNERON and Jasper. Yes, in normal circumstances some guidance and perhaps a warning is the right approach. But when you have similar contributions from seemingly the same user at the same time, what do you do when the sum of their contributions amounts to abuse, meaning that the point is reached when a block is then justified? And no, I'm not saying that it was in this case. As for the suggestions, having people say on their user page that they are part of an editathon is too much work to be practical. Making a guide for editathon organizers is something I endorse. Ideally as part of the process it would be nice if the organizer posted the event, the date for it, the topic and the usernames of the attendees. There have been at least two recent cases where the people involved could not be reached, or communication was established after a block had been placed. Edit: Also the suggestion of contacting every user of a suspected sockpuppet is not reasonable, there can be a lot of them. Infrastruktur (talk) 16:26, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng and other checkusers: If you were looking for an editathon notification, where would you look? To put that the other way round, what specifically would you tell an editathon organizer to do?
Do you think we should have a local event coordinator user group? On ENWP, this right confers the ability to create accounts without throttling, and to give temporary confirmed status. (They don't allow unconfirmed users to create articles.) The mere presence of this right also gives more information to admins and checkusers. Bovlb (talk) 16:50, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
Another advantage of having a specific user group for event coordinators is that it gives our community a say in who is running editathons. I'm not referring to this case in particular, but we want to ensure that anyone in the position of doing Wikidata training has an appropriate appreciation of core principles like establishing notability and responding to feedback, otherwise they are unlikely to pass that on to event participants. Bovlb (talk) 17:19, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@Bovlb: Yes, event coordinator would be a very good idea. If we still go the declaration route, my preference would be for the coordinator to put on their userpage "This user is operating an edit-a-thon as of <date>", optionally with a subject area described. --Jasper Deng (talk) 20:34, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
I have been told that accounts created through the event dashboard are logged at en:Special:Log/OutreachDashboardBot. I tested a handful of the accounts from the CU and they didn't show up. I still don't know how to determine if a co-ordinator has registered an event on the dashboard, or if editor has registered with an event, or if an edit is associated with an event. Bovlb (talk) 19:35, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
@Multichill: Next time, you really ought to ping me, the blocking admin/CU, and refrain from direct action as per WD:Blocking policy: "If any block or unblock is controversial, a short discussion should commence via the administrators' noticeboard on which course of action to take.", which you did, but you should never revert another admin's actions without consulting them first, not even if that admin then ends up agreeing they made a mistake (like here).--Jasper Deng (talk) 09:40, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
You were pinged several times, here and here. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 10:12, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
I meant at this AN proceeding specifically.--Jasper Deng (talk) 10:17, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

@Jasper Deng: I'm baffled by your response. A check user is not a fishing expedition. First abuse needs to be established or suspicion of Illegitimate uses of alternate accounts. I see a bunch of newbie edits, no grounds for a check user at all. Instead of acknowledging you made a honest mistake, you threaten me, the user who cleaned up the mess you caused, with a desysop procedure. You incorrectly blocked a long standing member of the Dutch community and a bunch of potential new members. I notified you and gave you more than a day to respond. During that time you did edit the English Wikipedia. Leaving someone blocked longer because you are not around was taking to long so I took action. You recent responses here and on Wikidata:Requests for checkuser/Case/Vcldead have a very negative influence in my trust in you. Are you able to reflect and apologize? Multichill (talk) 17:47, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

@Multichill: Just so I'm clear, I approve the unblock and apologize for the impact, because the new information definitely suggests I was wrong to block those accounts. However, there are certain procedural requirements that need to be followed. Unblocking without waiting for the blocking admin to respond is wheel warring and never appropriate, so I responded accordingly. I lead a busy life and certain wiki functions take more time and energy than others (you didn't respond immediately to this again either, for example). As for checking, this was vehemently not a case of fishing, and I also do not allow confirmation bias to influence my decision; this means that if the balance of technical evidence suggests socking, that's my conclusion. The pattern of making items on artists without sitelinks with social media links is a common spam pattern, and usually only spam items are made en masse by multiple accounts. I remind you that just because a check turns out to not come back positive, or come back as a false positive, does not mean the original check was unjustified. Please do not commit hindsight bias (Q1960297): the information at the time may have been a marginal case for checking but the similarity to the spam pattern was the deciding factor, and I act based on the best information available to myself. I'm also entitled to mistake of fact, like occurred here. With that said, I will be increasing evidentiary standards from hereon out and requiring nontrivial explanations; after all, the rationale for checking here was because of my own behavioral examination, not the OP's. I will make sure the OP understands the sufficiency of the rationale much more clearly from now on.--Jasper Deng (talk) 19:40, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
@Sotiale, 1997kB, علاء: I also will respect their opinion if they agree.--Jasper Deng (talk) 21:27, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

I am sorry that this happened and would like to apologize for not having intervened sooner because I was aware of the problem late. I am taking this matter seriously, and I believe Jasper will have learned enough from this opportunity to be cautious in similar matters. I will provide Jasper with information regarding this issue that checkuser may consider. However, this cannot completely prevent all cases, and due to the nature of this wiki, it is very difficult to identify editing patterns. Therefore, I hope that the ideas of the community will be discussed together.

And I recommend to Jasper that there should be a distinction between checkuserblock and non-checkuserblock. The general block reason you indicated(abusing multiple accounts) may be overturned by other admins at any time. The checkuserblock must be limited to cases involving personal information, cannot be applied to all socks cases, and its statement of reason must be clear. I point out that in this case it was not clear, and I think it should be clearly distinguished. Additionally, checkuserblock is not used unless privacy is involved as it can sometimes increase community distrust. --Sotiale (talk) 14:52, 10 February 2024 (UTC)

@Sotiale: To be clear, this was not a CU block as it didn't warrant one. All blocks are still subject to the procedural requirement of allowing the blocking admin to respond before any action is taken, unless it clearly was a block of an unintended target.--Jasper Deng (talk) 20:42, 10 February 2024 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng, Sotiale: no such procedural requirement exists on Wikidata. You might be mixing up Wikidata with another wiki like English Wikipedia. That would also be very unreasonable for the user who is unable to edit. Multichill (talk) 18:44, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
"Unblocking without waiting for the blocking admin to respond is wheel warring" — This does not match any definition of wheel warring that I am aware of. ENWP defines it as reinstating a reverted administrative action. Also this is not what happened here, as about 32 hours elapsed between the initial ping and the unblock, unless by "waiting" you mean waiting indefinitely.
"this was not a CU block" — This was far from clear to me, as it clearly arose from a checkuser. How should we have distinguished it?
"All blocks are still subject to the procedural requirement of allowing the blocking admin to respond before any action is taken" — This is not hard policy either here or on ENWP, although I am aware that many admins will object to the fact of their administrative actions being reversed. I strongly discourage administrators from attempting to own their administrative actions; we act better when we act collaboratively, and it is often important to resolve administrative errors quickly, as in this case. Bovlb (talk) 19:03, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
I don't know if Multichill's comment is an answer to what Jasper said, but checkuserblock is a policy specified in Wikidata:CheckUser#CheckUser blocks and this is based on the RFC. Of course, this doesn't mean I prefer using this. --Sotiale (talk) 05:33, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Question: (I'm asking this as someone who has organised a lot of editathons with external organisations which need a lot of investment of time and money to organise, and know a lot of people who do the same). Am I correct in thinking that now if I run a workshop/editathon with new users that now all participants and myself can be blocked by an admin during the workshop because we are using the same wifi? And that this will continue to be the situation? Thanks John Cummings (talk) 02:15, 13 February 2024 (UTC)

That is an excellent question. I wish that I could firmly answer it in the negative. I think we have an opportunity here to improve our processes in this regard.
As an event organizer, could you please share with us what steps you take to identify yourself and register/announce the event? Do you use the dashboard? I see that you hold the "eventcoordinator" right on ENWP. Bovlb (talk) 02:48, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks Bovlb, most of the people I work with are experts and professionals who, after a significant investment of time by me explaining why they should share on Wikimedia projects rather than their other options, want to learn to share their knowledge. Honestly I wont do any more editathons if there's a chance they will get blocked for (what I understand from this conversation) using the wifi. This kind of thing makes Wikimedia look very dysfunctional, I think its reasonable to expect other partners to withdraw completely if they were blocked like this, its just too big a reputational risk for them, already at least one major partner has stopped working with Wikimedia due to lack of reliable metrics.
I usually work with other trainers and use whatever tools they are most comfortable with. If a decision is being made based on tools used, please base it on surveys and research of a large number of people doing this work (which I assume someone at WMF might have a good understanding of).
Thanks again
John Cummings (talk) 03:27, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. I too am very concerned about the potential disrepute for Wikimedia projects that may result when an organized event does not interact well with a project.
The questions I'm really trying to answer here is: How can an administrator check whether specific editing is associated with an organized event? How can an administrator get in touch with an event co-ordinator? When I ask you how you identify yourself as an event co-ordinator and how you announce/register events, I am merely trying to answer those same questions from the opposite direction. Bovlb (talk) 03:45, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks, sure, so my assumption is that people know I'm an event coordinator because I say it on my user page and also I have that event coordinator magic power on enwiki. An administrator could get in touch with me on my talk page during the event but honestly I'm unlikely to see it till after the event because I'm busy running the event. I don't announce events I'm running on a wiki before hand, its not a requirement and also especially on English Wikipedia there are editors who are actively hostile to new contributors so giving them a target is not a good idea. If its organised by a Wikimedia chapter, they announce it themselves on their wiki, I usually run internal events and the organisation uses its internal system to attract people to the events. I hope this helps, John Cummings (talk) 04:28, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
Right. I can see how people visiting your user page can see you're an event co-ordinator. (And we were discussing above whether to adopt the sane magic power here.) What I don't see is how to tell that NewUser123's edit to Q456 is part of an editathon in general, and your editathon in particular. (Although this linking between editors would likely come out in a checkuser investigation.)
I am saddened, if not entirely surprised, to learn that announcing a new user event might generate hostility towards participants. That seems like something that should be flagged and corrected. I was hoping to make some sort of announcement a requirement.  :( Bovlb (talk) 05:15, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
Hi Bovlb, thanks, I don't know what tools are available to track this, my assumption is that for some topics and countries this would be a really unwelcome rquirement. John Cummings (talk) 09:11, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
That's a fair point.
From the administrator's point of view, if you come across problematic edits, either you revert-and-delete immediately, or you contact the editor. In my experience, new editors seldom respond to feedback, so it eventually ends up at revert-and-delete anyway. If we knew that edits were part of an event, and we could identify the co-ordinator, then we would have another communications channel. This might be especially appropriate if a specific type of problem was being replicated across multiple event participants. (We often see waves of problematic edits from different new editors with similar topics.)
But I am digressing here from the original point of this thread, which was about blocking all participants in an editathon. I don't know what sort of evidence was considered here and exactly what the decision-making process was, but I'd like us to find a way to do better in the future. Bovlb (talk) 17:56, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks Bovlb, can I ask has this happened before or is this the first time a whole group of contributors have been blocked like this? John Cummings (talk) 00:59, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
I think this is the worst case I am aware of, but here are a couple of previous cases that might qualify:
Bovlb (talk) 01:47, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
I understand your feelings as I have been involved in resolving this issue with you in the past. When events like edit-a-thons occur, this unfortunately sometimes shows checkuser data that is indistinguishable from typical corporate spam. I think the first task is to prevent problems on the checkuser side by sharing the characteristics of checkuser data that appears in edit-a-thons among our checkuser team, and then the next step is to find a community way to solve this problem in the community. I would like to think about this together.
I believe that a solution on the checkuser side would prevent some of the previous cases, but it is not a foolproof solution. As you know, this is done on request. This means that other users start off suspecting it to be spam or socks, and other users also misunderstand events containing edit-a-thons. So this could also be posted on AN at anytime, which could cause similar problems. Therefore, a way would be to make the event dashboard visible and create pages that announce the progress of the event. --Sotiale (talk) 05:33, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Replace interlanguage link

Van Gulik's Judge Dee series (Q16653573)The interlanguage link of English does not point clearly, could you replace it to "Judge Dee"? Mutianout (talk) 22:43, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

The article on Judge Dee already has a separate item (Judge Dee (Q1756519)). I do not think these items should be merged either, as one is about the novel series and the other is about the main character. –FlyingAce✈hello 22:56, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
This novel series has no English article, only the main character article, and in Chinese, there is no article for the character, but there is article for the novel. But the contents of both articles is not too different. And, in English, this novel series is often called Judge Dee. Besides, the author of the series, 高罗佩 or Robert van Gulik, the Chinese and English articles are already linked to each other. So I think Link 大唐狄公案 to Judge Dee is more appropriate. The Sleepwalkers

Greetings,

Currently Q15805814 for the EN Wikipedia link it links to a redirect page rather than the proper page itself, leading to linked languages not showing on the proper article page. I tried fixing this myself but was prevented from doing so.

Instead of linking to "The Sleepwalkers: How Europe Went to War in 1914", it needs to link to "The Sleepwalkers (Clark Book)"

Chemical subjects vs claim P18

While doing some contributions, I have crossed paths with User:Wostr, who has been categorically undoing a specific part of my edits: when I add a P18 (image) claim to a chemical subject. He seems to prefer to use P117 and P8224 instead, which I can follow to some degree, but when I tried to be helpful by also filling those claims apart from P18, when sufficent different images were available, he started to move things around to get P18 empty again, e.g. here. In several pages histories, I saw that over the past few years 3 or 4 different users made valid P18 claims, but all of them got reverted by Wostr. At User talk:Jcb, Wostr claims that he is following established practice, but although I asked several times for it, he did not provide any link to such 'established practice'. Instead, he threatened several times that he would report me to the admins and in every reaction he writes that it's counter productive to talk to me. I have no problem with following established practice, but I do not like to be ordered by one single user to obey their personal preferences. Could an admin shine some light on this? Is there an established practice about avoiding claim P18 in chemical subjects that I can read somewhere? For Wikipedia it would be a pity if there would be such an established practice, because P18 is the place where many Wikipedia templates look for an image. Jcb (talk) 15:48, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

I tried to explain to User:Raniapahn on their talk page that it's not useful to create items on people that only have one other statement pointing to an external database. Why are we so strict with confirmed status?

Given the number of semi-protected items I always wondered why we interrogate people on Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Other rights who want confirmed status?. Are there historical examples of problems with us giving it out more freely? We seem to often say "just make 5 more edits" or whatever which doesn't seem super friendly. I avoid resolving requests there because I'm not sure what the standards required are. BrokenSegue (talk) 19:45, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

I generally hand it out if someone has a solid reputation on their home project (e.g. 1k edits, 6 months, clean block log, not many complaints on their talk page). The purpose of semi-protection and certain abuse filters is to protect us from people creating sock farms. We expect people from other projects to come here and try to do stuff that supports the other project, and we don't need to gatekeep that. Bovlb (talk) 19:52, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
I agree; I even granted one without a formal request, after the user casually mentioned having issues adding links to redirects. The thing with a couple of the recent ones I've seen is that they don't have much of a history in their home projects either, so it's harder to judge that way. –FlyingAce✈hello 18:12, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
If it is any consolation to anyone, I was recently considered unworthy of the privilege it is to be "confirmed" on metawiki. That's perfectly fine of course, I guess they don't need any help with global vandalism. Infrastruktur (talk) 20:38, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

This request appears to be related to the fact that Metropolitan Santiago Convention & Event Center (Q5755742) has the Spanish aliases "Casapiedra" and "Casa Piedra". According to the ESWP article, this building was formerly known as "Casapiedra", so this does not seem wildly incorrect. I suspect that this is somehow related to Google search results. I'm not sure what we're supposed to do to resolve this, especially with no information on what other entity might be involved. Bovlb (talk) 22:36, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
looks like many companies share the name "Casa Piedra" not sure there's anything we can do here. BrokenSegue (talk) 22:52, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
It looks like whoever owned the "Casapiedra" name moved to another building (which is why the original convention center was renamed). I did a Google search and it seems to be displaying the correct info in the knowledge panel - it just happens to bring the es.wp article among the search results. I concur that there is no action to take on our side.

Error recovery in element Q28924851

Пользователь UtherSRG (talk • contribs • deleted contribs • logs • filter log • block user • block log • SUL (for IP: GUC)) многократно вносит в элемент Aptenoperissus (Q28924851) неверные данные: monotypic fossil taxon (Q47487597) вместо fossil taxon (Q23038290). Online translation: User User:UtherSRG repeatedly enters incorrect data into the Aptenoperissus (Q28924851) element: monotypic fossil taxon (Q47487597) instead of fossil taxon (Q23038290). Qh13 (talk) 03:23, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

@UtherSRG would you like to comment on this? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:34, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
We set both parent and child to monotypic. In this case the parent is the family and the child is the genus. This is done to support the taxonbar on Wikipedia. - UtherSRG (talk) 11:43, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Online translation: I explain: according to the definition, a monotypic taxon is one that has only 1 subordinate taxon. In this case, the family Aptenoperissidae (Q28924852) is a monotypic taxon, since it includes 1 genus Aptenoperissus (Q28924851), and the genus is a polytypical taxon, since it includes 8 species, here are authoritative sources confirming the latter: fossilworks + PBDB. I do not know for which tools UtherSRG needs the incorrect value of the P31 property, but it needs to change these tools, because there should be no lies in Wikidata. Qh13 (talk) 05:33, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
@Qh13: "a monotypic taxon is one that has only 1 subordinate taxon" is not strictly true. It is true for monotypic genera/species, but there are monotypic families and higher, which will invalidate that assertion. —Tom.Reding (talk) 12:30, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Извините, в моём определении допущена неточность: монотипическим является таксон, у которого только 1 подчинённый таксон следующего основного ранга. Таким образом в монотипическое семейство включают 1 род, а количество видов в нём не регламентировано. Online translation: Sorry, there is an inaccuracy in my definition: a monotypic taxon is one that has only 1 subordinate taxon of the next main rank. Thus, 1 genus is included in the monotypic family, and the number of species in it is not regulated. Qh13 (talk) 08:43, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Ah, yes. I was not expecting that the mono family would have a poly genus. —Tom.Reding (talk) 19:58, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Просьба заблокировать User:UtherSRG и проверить все его правки, потому что он представляет ложные значения P31 в других элементах: Q30021471 - к виду вообще не применяется термин монотипический. Online translation: Please block User:UtherSRG and check all its edits, because it represents false values of P31 in other elements: Q30021471 - the term monotypic does not apply to the species at all. --Qh13 (talk) 05:46, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

@Jts1882, Tom.Reding: Am I in the wrong here? Did I misunderstand what you said I should do? - UtherSRG (talk) 11:23, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Seems correct to me (assuming it is monotypic), as monotypic fossil taxon (Q47487597) is a subclass of both monotypic taxon (Q310890) and fossil taxon (Q23038290). Jts1882 (talk) 11:33, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Oh, now I see the issue (it's hard to read the explanation with the two languages intermingled). Aptenoperissus is not monotypic, so only the family should use monotypic fossil taxon (Q47487597). Jts1882 (talk) 11:36, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Absolutely right. Qh13 (talk) 08:51, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Online translation: UtherSRG, you should check all your edits in which you specified P31 = monotypic fossil taxon (Q47487597) and cancel those in which the taxon has more than 1 subordinate taxon of the next rank. For example: 1 genus is included in the family — we leave monotypic fossil taxon (Q47487597), 2 or more genera are included in the family — we return fossil taxon (Q23038290). Qh13 (talk) 09:00, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Online translation: Addendum: all species should be returned fossil taxon (Q23038290), because the next "main rank" is an individual, and modern science does not describe species from one individual. The species can be described from a single fossil, but by default it is believed that there were several individuals and only one of them has reached modern scientists. Qh13 (talk) 09:06, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
I will make only the parent monotypic. I'm not sure why I thought to do both parent and child. - UtherSRG (talk) 19:00, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Is there an easy way to search for these changes? - UtherSRG (talk) 19:01, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

"Jeanneau" ; the subject is already discussed here Wikidata:Administrators'_noticeboard#Family_of_watchmakers ??? Lognoné-Jeanneau is the same family [1], so it's always the same family spam ? --Arroser (talk) 00:31, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Not really. You mix a lot of things. One is related to watchmaking and innovations. The other one is related to French literature. Your mind looks very confused and your family spam allegation is totally wrong. I guess you are sharing wrong statements. Kevlo007007 (talk) 15:30, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
No those posts are always related to your family : Lognoné, Jeanneau (and Chanvril also ?). This is your only contribution topic, even if one is a watchmaker or a writer. --Arroser (talk) 16:29, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Sorry, dear @Arroser, again you are mixing everything. There are THREE different generations of watchmakers : total EIGHT different watchmakers : six men, two women.

Family of watchmakers

These appear to have been deleted without going through the standard review process. They appear have a structural need as part of a family of watchmakers. If I remember they had several references. @Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) I appreciate why you did what you did here, but please be aware that it's bad form to edit the comments of other users. Cheers, Bovlb (talk) 07:03, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Providing a list of Q-numbers is not "commenting". A comment is "a verbal or written remark expressing an opinion or reaction." You simply took the Q-number and made them into links, there was no "opinion or reaction" that was altered, just an adding to the list. --RAN (talk) 13:05, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Regardless, you have been advised.
Also, when making undelete requests, you should be doing what I did in my comment, linking the items and CCing the deleting admin. You'll get better help if you make it easier for others to help you. Bovlb (talk) 16:16, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
We can keep arguing about proper formatting of Q-numbers and whether adding to a list of Q-numbers is right or wrong, and whether a list is a comment; but instead, why don't we concentrate on the issue of deletion/restoration and Wikidata notability versus Wikipedia notabity? --RAN (talk) 12:58, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

  • A Family tree is a structural need. If someone is going to write a biography of the family of French watchmakers they need information on the whole family. --RAN (talk) 11:56, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Indeed, Richard did a fantastic work. I cannot understand why they deleted the links with this family of watchmakers. Kevlo007007 (talk) 12:37, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Deletion of these elements has been requested at https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:Bulletin_des_patrouilleurs#Help

Justification is available there.

Vargenau (talk) 12:25, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

These should have been listed at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Requests_for_deletions before being deleted so that the Wikidata community can check whether they pass Wikidata's notability criteria, especially points 2 and 3: "It refers to an instance of a clearly identifiable conceptual or material entity that can be described using serious and publicly available references." and "It fulfills a structural need, for example: it is needed to make statements made in other items more useful."
Deleting family details from Augustin Jeanneau (Q74752978) makes that item less useful Piecesofuk (talk) 16:43, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Why exactly is it useful to know who his sibling is? Is it equally useful to know who his niece, his best friend or his tennis partner is when there is no connection to his activity that makes him notable in the Wikidata sense (assumed there has been no interest in the public so far concerning such relations, which is undoubtedly the case for some celebrities)? --Dorades (talk) 21:24, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Indeed, thank you for sharing your thoughts. Kevlo007007 (talk) 12:35, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
I don't think the justification provided is fair enough. Besides, they probably took this initiative unreasonably to destroy the process. This is a way that is not guided by or based on good sense.
This is not acceptable. Kevlo007007 (talk) 12:41, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
I would like to express my concern about @Vargenau

Contributor Kevlo permanently blocked on WP:fr see here for family spam (conflict of interest). WP:fr was cleaned by several "patrollers", after this contributor disseminated extensive mentions of his family "Lognoné", without sources or encyclopedic relevance, in multiple articles. This same spamming occurred on Wikidata, Commons at large, and to a lesser extent on WP:en. There are still items on Wikidata that match this large family spam ; example : https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q124498393 or https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q124497718 --Arroser (talk) 18:02, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
I am very surprised by the agressive approach of @Vargenau
Indeed, I have been recommended by @Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) to complete this family tree and add more elements.
As already mentionned, these appear to have been deleted without going through the standard review process. They appear have a structural need as part of a family of watchmakers. They had several references.
Can they be restored? Kevlo007007 (talk) 12:30, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
I am really shocked by those spamming allegation. There is no spamming at all.
Likewise, I noted that the blocking on Wikipedia was completely irregular, not in accordance with procedures and worse invoked for unjustified reasons.
This "patrol team" as it calls itself is not reliable.
Please extra care about those fake allegations. Kevlo007007 (talk) 16:14, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you so much @Infrastruktur. Still waiting his answer. Can they be restored ? Kevlo007007 (talk) 12:36, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
That's not for me to decide. The appeal is basically an open hearing, more information can be found at Wikidata:Guide to requests for undeletion#Final_appeal. I saw the items already had a number of sources and those will be considered. Infrastruktur (talk) 14:45, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Good to know. Thank you so much for your reply. Kevlo007007 (talk) 15:08, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Ok so Patrol Team and the two administrators who carried out the blocking on WP:fr are not reliable. The administrator who deleted the items here is not reliable. The administrator who deleted the items on Commons is not reliable. The multiple contributors who cleaned up spam on WP:fr are not reliable. That's a lot of contributors, who have noticed spam and who believed in false allegations, not reliable... --Arroser (talk) 21:39, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

... only one on Wikidata. --Arroser (talk) 10:39, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

This is a little hard to go over, with everything being in french or paywalled. At least some of the items I would say are not notable, especially the ones with mostly geneaology sources and no other indication for why they are notable. I'm unsure when it comes to Kevin Lognone Q124567320, there are some sources that uses the word researcher but this doesn't seem to be at the Ph.d. level? https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=KqqKCnkAAAAJ&hl=en&oi=ao . He does write quite a bit, again I'm unsure what the bar is for being considered notable as an author, whatever it is it is lower on Wikidata than it is on Wikipedia. If he has any books that's not self-published I would be fine with an item for the author and the book. Infrastruktur (talk) 16:25, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks Kevlo007007 (talk) 16:27, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

@Arroser: Kevlo92400 has actually 9 deleted contributions on Wikidata, so I think one could justify to report them on Wikidata:Requests for checkuser if their contributions relate to the same topic or person(s). Since I can't see these deleted contributions, I refrain from doing so. --Dorades (talk) 19:09, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
@Dorades. I have no doubt that KevloX2 are the same accounts since the two pseudonyms only contribute to the subject "Family Lognoné". On Commons, Kevlo007007 responds on the Kevlo92400 page. Moreover, to the question of Bovlb above, i think he doesn't answer precisely. Never mind. I'm just reporting a large family spam for non-encyclopedic topics, on Commons, WP:fr and Wikidata. The deletion of Wikidata elements is only a continuation of the major cleaning carried out on WP:fr and also partly on Commons, as well as the blocking of the contributor on WP:fr by two administrators. Despite everything, there are still elements here, without encyclopedic notoriety (and Commons also, that's another subject). But it's up to Wikidata administrators to make a decision and possibly clean up, not me : personally, I mainly clean up WP:fr ; WP:fr is quite well organized to react at advertising or self-promotion when it is discovered, with two differents "Team Patrol" who contribute and communicate together. --Arroser (talk) 20:57, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Well, there is no advertising or self promotion. Again, the family spam allegation is not relevant because watchmaking is definitely a part of encyclopedic topics. It covers both 19th and 20th century. Please check it out. Craftsmanship of mechanical watchmaking and art mechanics has been inscribed since 2020 (15.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
I didn't took initiative my self to create the family tree to link watchmakers ancestors. It was recommended by @Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) who had a long ever lasting experience and a fair neutrality.
The Team Patrol in WP were very rude, jealous, poorly informative, did wrong allegations that they never proved. They did also a lot of mistakes. And also never offered assistance to correct it. Kevlo007007 (talk) 21:40, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Kevlo92400's deleted contributions were on Q117845762, which was Kevin Lognoné, Analyst. Bovlb (talk) 21:39, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Sorry dear @Bovlb. I cannot reply to this. Because you deleted most of the contents with your friends. I don't have access to your links.
It is better to propose a contradictory examination rather than deleting automatically contents which cancel out all the coherence. Kevlo007007 (talk) 21:45, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
I was posting that in response to Dorades. The key point is that there is strong evidence here that you are the same person as Kevlo92400, and your claim to the contrary is therefore a deliberate attempt to mislead. That and your false accusations of vandalism make it very hard for us to assist you here. Bovlb (talk) 21:59, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
I truly believe there is vandalism. You can check by yourself the deletion of these elements requested at https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:Bulletin_des_patrouilleurs#Help
No rude manners anymore. Fair neutrality is needed. Kevlo007007 (talk) 22:03, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Contributors and administrators from "Team Patrol" on Wp:fr would be happy to know that, in front of a spam, team is "very rude, jealous, poorly informative, did wrong allegations and mistakes"... --Arroser (talk) 22:48, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
I fully agree with @Arroser comments, As a member of the french wikipedia "Team Patrol", i confirm them. We have been very patient with this contributor. Over one year, at least 10 messages have been posted on his discussion page to help him and explain him its various vandalisms or promotional posts but what We received as replies are caracteristic of misconduct or misbehaviors ("No need to focus on producing parrot speech to hide your censorship methods"; "leave aside the quiet and comfortable stupidity of your jealousies" or this attack against an administrator "The expression blunder is perfectly suited to the profile of Bertrand Labévue"(the litteral translation of Labévue name would be Theblunder) among many others attacks).
Some examples of diversions of mainly Commons and Wikidata use, he placed an image from commons (that he uploaded here) in the article about the street "Grande Rue des Stuarts" about an "number 8: historical place of the watchmaker from Lognoné family". In this article are placed historical buildings and KevloXXXX placed this image (from his family) as an historical building however when looking at the official sources from "The inventory of cultural heritage in Brittany" nothing states that this number 8 of the street Grande Rue des Stuarts is of historical interest. So much that in fact, the historical buidings numbers shift from 7 to 9 with no N°8 stated in the inventory!
For Wikidata, The elements that have been deleted have nothing about notability, it's just a diversion use of Wikidata as a storage for its own genealogy (with not notable people), some still not notable remains. Moreover, although some of the elements he created may be kept (status on notability doubtfully potential, weak), some other are only created for promotion purposes such as the element [2] created for the "Lognoné museum" stated as a virtual museum but in fact an unfinished personnal website !
As another example, in this diff from the article La Ville-ès-Nonais he put a family children photo called "Family Lognoné" to show the monument "Motte féodale" (Feudal mound) and place called "La Malouinière" however nothing except the children was viewable. You can check by yourself the photo on the link provided and tell me if you see any feudal construction or any monuments!
Of the 248 modifications, he made in french wikipedia, quite >90% of them have been canceled by more than 20 contributors (including at least 6 administrors). Unfortunately, by checking its modifications and creations on wikidata, it seem to be same...
We can add that for his reply to the question of @Infrastruktur, he replied that for the book "THE CULT OF MITHRA FROM MONT-DOL TO MONT-SAINT-MICHEL Historical and archaeological investigation", he is acknoledge as a contributor stating that authors wrote "Thank you for instigating this book" that's wrong, the real translation of this thanks page (NOT A CONTRIBUTOR PAGE) is the following one "Thank you for instigating this survey" survey, not book ! and the second reply is also wrong since, he states about the French Academy of Sciences that his book was selected (without saying what book), the sentence is wrong since nothing in the two links show any book from this person and moreover, the competition has nothing about a national competition, it was only a local competition where the french sciences academy only wrote the subject and nothing else !

As already mentioned, 121 collectibles, relating to the know-how of three generations are kept at the Museum of Brittany (under their family name) : http://www.collections.musee-bretagne.fr/ark:/83011/FLMjo206889
Their mechanical clocks are also registered by the French ministry of culture & heritage : https://patrimoine.bzh/gertrude-diffusion/dossier/horloge/d119c787-f73c-4b34-b39e-560c74d6ac56
https://www.pop.culture.gouv.fr/notice/merimee/IA35003135
There is no diversion. Watchmaking is an encyclopedic topic.
La Ville-ès-Nonais, Grande Rue des Stuarts and other places are the locations where they lived. All were also heritage places with feudal mound and “malouinières” architecture etc. This is difficult to argue because each item is related with Familysearch ID linked with all the proofs : date & place of birth, date & place of death, wedding contracts, data, archives etc...
You will find also other proofs in several genealogists networks and websites (Geneanet...).
French wikipedia "Team Patrol" has a very bad reputation. I am glad Wikidata and Wikipedia are different. Kevlo007007 (talk) 20:47, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
I hereby confirm being contributor and instigator of this investigation book : "THE CULT OF MITHRA FROM MONT-DOL TO MONT-SAINT-MICHEL - Historical and archaeological investigation" https://www.amazon.fr/culte-Mithra-Mont-Dol-Mont-Saint-Michel-Investigation/dp/2140324927. This topic is famous worldwide and I visited myself the London Mithraeum Bloomberg Space : https://www.londonmithraeum.com/ and the Louvre collections : https://www.louvrelens.fr/work/relief-representant-mithra-dieu-iranien-soleil-sacrifiant-taureau/
I also wrote different articles on Mithra : https://www.contrepoints.org/2023/04/02/453656-accueillir-les-grecs-et-les-perses-en-baie-du-mont-saint-michel
Both authors mentioned my name at the end of the book :https://www.amazon.fr/culte-Mithra-Mont-Dol-Mont-Saint-Michel-Investigation/dp/2140324927 "Thank you for instigating this investigation book". @GF38storic is playing with words. He didn't read this book. Both authors were grateful for my dedicated work.
Second thing : the French Academy of Sciences was part of the jury which selected my research at national level. I was in the top three winners at the national level, three times. I received a travel grant to Argentina and Italy.
Please, here is the proof when I represented Sorbonne University : https://www.calameo.com/read/0065571570e754ec616ee Kevlo007007 (talk) 21:31, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi @Kevlo007007, i'm not playing with words. Words are important in their meanings. You still provides links without any mention/proofs that you are a contributor of this book. The only thing you provided with your name is the calameo page with a photo of a "Remerciements" page ("Thanks" page) where in french it is stated "To Kevin Lognone, who was able to instigate this investigation" it is not written "To Kevin Lognone, who contributed to this book" NO, no no ! Yesterday i discussed with a barmaid and she gave me an idea on alcool diseases, that's not a justification to say that this barmaid contributed to my research activities, she only instigated me to search more about alcoolism !
Congratulation for your local french Department "Vienne" 2nd prize for a local departmental student competition but although open to all french universities, its goal is a local departmental goal for the french Department Vienne as shown in your document untitled "FuturS en Vienne" (meaning "FutureS in Vienne") and signed by local president of the departement Vienne (remember that in wikipedia french department presidents are not considered as notable enough).
As i stated before, if there are Wikidata elements that may become notable, we do not want them to be deleted, but those that have been deleted are non notable and we think that the diversion of wikidata to introduce non notable people only for elaborating its own genealogy is a diversion of Wikipedia/Wikidata use. Regards. GF38storic (talk) 22:15, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi @GF38storic, please start to read this book : https://www.amazon.fr/culte-Mithra-Mont-Dol-Mont-Saint-Michel-Investigation/dp/2140324927 and come back to me later... You will see if my contribution and instigation were instrumental or not.
Regarding the "FuturS en Vienne" national competition, it was created by Rene Monory : https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q697358, president of French Senate, former French minister of education and past president of Vienne local government. He created also this foundation with Francois Dalle, CEO of L'Oréal : https://prospective-innovation.org/ Kevlo007007 (talk) 22:26, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

They are disjoint two division of Wa State (Q2306303). How does WA control the Southern WA region? Southern Wa State and Northern Wa State are notable in Wikidata.

  • 2.It refers to an instance of a clearly identifiable conceptual or material entity that can be described using serious and publicly available references.
  • 3. It fulfills a structural need, for example: it is needed to make statements made in other items more useful.

@Wavana: Do you have any references for these two areas?
How does the northern part of Wa State differ from Wa Self-Administered Division (Q3712127)?
I see the northern and southern parts have separate subsections in the ENWP article on Wa State, so it would be possible to create redirects for them that could be used as sitelinks, but it's unclear to me that these areas have well-accepted names (aside from that used for Q3712127, which already has an ENWP article). Bovlb (talk) 21:00, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
Mong Pawk (Q6899428) is a part of northen wa, but not Wa Self-Administered Division (Q3712127). Wa State and Kokang are connected, but Wa Self-Administered Division (Q3712127) and Kokang are not. Wavana (talk) 02:28, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
it's unclear to me that these areas have well-accepted English names, but these areas have well-accepted Chinese names. 北佤地区 and 南佤地区. Wavana (talk) 02:38, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
@Ameisenigel, Estopedist1: Please restore them. Wavana (talk) 02:07, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
My advice would be to establish redirect links from these names to sections within zh:佤邦. Bovlb (talk) 02:48, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
I can repeat what I have written on my talk page: The important point is using serious and publicly available references. There have been no such references when I deleted the items. Would you be willing to add references if I undelete the items? --Ameisenigel (talk) 08:29, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks. ―Bandar (talk) 19:59, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

he was active in 2021. All edits seems to be in Arabic. It is not easy to find these old comments (maybe some of them are offensive) in item's history menu, so I think that damage is minimal here Estopedist1 (talk) 20:32, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
See here [3] All Arabic texts with emojis (in edits and edit summaries too) are porn comments and he posted his account on Snapchat, if you could hide them it would be That be good. Bandar (talk) 22:19, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
Is it just the ones with emojis in the edit summary? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:55, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

I have hidden the mentions of the Snapchat ID in the summaries, as it was an obvious violation. The other summaries do not look clearly offensive. --Wolverène (talk) 07:57, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

@Wolverène Thanks, but he wrote his snapchat account in the edits too and not just in the edits summary, so the edits should be hidden as well (I'm only talking about edits for which I've hidden the edit summary). Bandar (talk) 18:08, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
