Import of J9U IDs - solving problems[edit]

English: Hi! Thanks again for your import of National Library of Israel J9U ID (P8189) IDs to Wikidata! However, I have just noticed that there are 175 cases in which two items, one (or both) being a human, share the same ID; these errors seem, in nearly all cases, due to the import. There are different types of cases, here some (please check 0247 tag in J9U):

I am removing J9U IDs from not-pertinent items, but I need that wrong links from J9U to Wikidata are removed too; otherwise, future imports from J9U to Wikidata will make my work useless; so, I would ask you, when I have completely emptied the page, to check all the 175 J9U IDs one by one, in order to align them to Wikidata. I will inform you when I have finished the check. Thanks in advance! --Epìdosis 13:05, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Epìdosis, thank you very much for this comment. How I can have the full list of all the duplicate to work on them manually? if i understand correctly, all of them should be fixed also in the NLI database. Geagea (talk) 13:20, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Probably most of them need an adjustment in J9U, I'm not sure all of them; you can copy them from the two tables here. I suggest you to intervene in J9U after I have cleaned everything in Wikidata, so that you can rely on my edits instead of doing the same work that I'm doing, losing more time ;-) --Epìdosis 13:25, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, this Sunday has been interesting :) I have finished all the cases, you can start the check in J9U. Thanks and good night! --Epìdosis 21:30, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Epìdosis, thanks. Can you look again about this Cebes (Q61474568) - Cebes (Q965144) - 987007259420605171. Geagea (talk) 11:36, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also Cay Diedrich Lienau (Q1051931) - Cay Lienau (Q28869510) - 987007264674205171. look at the date of birth and death. Geagea (talk) 12:13, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Cebes moved, Cay Lienau seems OK on Wikidata. --Epìdosis 13:00, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
But her field 046: 1867-08-26 g 1953-04-14 2 edtf. It's fits to Q1051931. Geagea (talk) 13:06, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also Tomasz Arciszewski (Q56344585) born in 1948 - Tomasz Arciszewski (Q888350) (1877–1955) 987007272548205171. Geagea (talk) 14:06, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also Jakob Segal (Q91052) (1911-1995) - Jakub Segał (Q42393002) (1880-1943) - 987007274061905171. Geagea (talk) 14:14, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Cay Lienau: OK, moved, but "LCN note: b. 1937" should probably be removed. Moved the next two cases, of course. Thanks! --Epìdosis 23:28, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Epìdosis, thank you very much for your remarkable corrections and your efforts. Geagea (talk) 18:21, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

J9U persons on Mix'n'match[edit]

English: The catalog (https://mix-n-match.toolforge.org/?#/catalog/5446) has finally been created, thanks to the data you provided me and @Bargioni: a few months ago. The number of J9U IDs on Wikidata has increased of more than 50k. Good night, --Epìdosis 23:23, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is another 16k, but it need someone who is brave XD Matlin (talk) 19:40, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Matlin, Don't think that bravence needed her. It is better to be carefully rather than just mach id's. it make mass that makes a lot's of efforts to fix them. see her. Librerians from the National library of Israel working manually for matches and I'm pressing them to her. It is better to process carefully. Geagea (talk) 20:10, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrectly associating family names with an individual family[edit]

I was reviewing your recent edits and you've added J9U identifiers to instances of family name (Q101352). That is nearly always incorrect. In the example of Westfeldt (Q63441575), a family name/last name, you have associated it with the J9U for "Westfeldt family". Please review your updates to items of type family name (Q101352). I think you will find that most need to be undone. --William Graham (talk) 18:49, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have further reviewed your edits. I recommend you roll back that entire batch. --William Graham (talk) 18:53, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, you are probably correct. I should mach them to family (Q8436). I will revert myself. Geagea (talk) 19:00, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
William Graham, you are correct. that's pity but... reverts are in process. Thank you. Geagea (talk) 19:35, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Using GND[edit]

I have to warn you that Kolja will probably destroy you for edits like this XD. Matlin (talk) 19:36, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Matlin, thanks for the "warning". Geagea (talk) 20:41, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Error detection[edit]

Your bot should not add a date that contradicts an existing date by more than a few years. The date added has a person dying before they were born or living more than 120 years. Can you adjust the bot to look for those obvious errors? See for example: John Inglett-Fortescue (Q26265809). See: Wikidata:Database reports/items with P569 greater than P570 for one of the error detection searches I monitor. I just corrected eight errors. The problem may be caused by Reinheitsgebot which has been adding in incorrect VIAF identifiiers. RAN (talk) 16:07, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

RAN, It's not connected to VIAF. I know the problem and will fix it. Thanks for notification. Geagea (talk) 17:32, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Great! Peak at the Database Report from time to time, it picks up a lot of bot errors. There is also one for people who lived over 120 years that are not recognized as a supercentenarian. --RAN (talk) 17:36, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
RAN, Anyway I did not understand what was the problem with Charlie Grimm (Q5084955). I seems to be ok?. Geagea (talk) 17:40, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
All my edits contain a source from the National Library of Israel database. Geagea (talk) 17:43, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think the problem is conflation of people with the same name that lived in different eras. Reinheitsgebot is making the same errors just before your additions, that is why I thought it was confusing you. --RAN (talk) 17:45, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
all the edits based on LCCN id, so it's probably wrong. Will report to NLI. Geagea (talk) 17:50, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Lecturer[edit]

Hi Geagea,

please use university teacher (Q1622272) instead of lecturer (Q1569495), which only refers to the anglo-saxon concept. Thanks-- U. M. Owen (talk) 13:09, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

U. M. Owen, thanks. Geagea (talk) 13:19, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Henry de Milly[edit]

Hello, we got a report error in the Spanish Wikipedia about the birthdate of Q1452592. I saw that you made an edit not so long ago in which you added a birthday that is much more contemporary compared to the ones that were already in the datasheet and in the article on eswiki. Is there a chance that you might have got the wrong Henry? if so, do you mind reverting (maybe partially) the change? Thank you. Nacaru (talk) 09:44, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nacaru, thanks for the report. Geagea (talk) 10:02, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have created Jacques Buffle (Q119570419). Geagea (talk) 10:24, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Johannes Flügge[edit]

Hi! I'm not convinced about this moving LC and J9U, although the dates (only in J9U) point to the pedagogue, in both authorities all the connected bibliographic records are clearly by the physicist. I suggest to move back the IDs and to change the dates in J9U. Thanks, --Epìdosis 06:58, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Epì, Ok, His "Leitfaden der geometrischen Optik, 1956(hdg.: Flügge, Johannes)" appears in both LCCN and J9U. moved back. will report. thx. Geagea (talk) 07:35, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
splitted. will be seen tomorrow after refreshing. Geagea (talk) 08:12, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Geagea,

may you please help me finding life dates this Rabbi? I couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance!-- U. M. Owen (talk) 21:18, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@U. M. Owen I found some info and added it to the item. Mordekhai Friedman (Q105519431) was Av Beit Din (Q694994) (must be rabbi before). this book edited by Pinchas Stern (Q120556750) is about him. His book Techeles Mordechai (תכלת מרדכי) - part 1 (WorldCat), part 2 (WorldCat), part 3 (WorldCat). The info about his date of birth is from Geni. His wife and one of his 5 daughters died in The Holocaust. Geagea (talk) 23:36, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How sad. Thanks for the information.--U. M. Owen (talk) 11:19, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Q118925324[edit]

DGtal (talk) 12:27, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
DGtal, יש לו לפחות 10 פרסומים. עומד בוודאות בתנאי החשיבות של ויקינתונים. השם בתצורה הזו משום שלא השכלתי מלכתחילה לסדר את זה באקסל. Geagea (talk) 13:20, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
הבנתי. תודה, DGtal (talk) 07:21, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect use of subclass of (P279)[edit]

Hello –

This edit to "crime victim" (Q10436169) was in error. Because subclass of (P279) is transitive (for example, see this tree of parent classes), such errors lead to numerous false inferences, such as crime victim (Q10436169)subclass of (P279)science (Q336) Before you use the properties instance of (P31) and subclass of (P279), please be familiar with Help:Basic membership properties, and look at the value item in your statement to be sure it's the one you intend. (In particular, note that "A" is only a subclass of "B" if all instances of "A" are also instances of "B".) There is often another property that can accurately express the relationship you had in mind; in this case, studied in (P2579) works better. You can search through available properties here. Thanks! Swpb (talk) 16:14, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you are correct. thanks. Geagea (talk) 18:19, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Roman Catholic religious congregation: theatre historian?[edit]

Hi, I cannot make sense of this edit of yours. Could you please check it and maybe correct if necessary? Adam78 (talk) 12:52, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Adam78, thanks. Geagea (talk) 12:59, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mose Simon Antokolski[edit]

Hello Geagea, can you help me with two Hebrew names?

--Kolja21 (talk) 23:57, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

About Shimeon Cohn Glogau (Q122939521): author of "Derekh hayim" [The Way of life] (1803). this is his book (link to the English description). The author of the manuscript that he published is unknown. He received the manuscript from the family of his wife First family (his family tree). Geagea (talk) 12:16, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot. I've filed a report, so the two GND for Mose Simon Antokolski will be merged. --Kolja21 (talk) 22:00, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Geagea,

which Otto Klein do you mean? The LoC entry is comprised of:

  • Jewish scholar
  • 1995 author on Döblin
  • German federal judge

Kind regards U. M. Owen (talk) 08:38, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It is not impossible that Otto Klein (Q16269066) (1891) could have written them.--U. M. Owen (talk) 08:50, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
it is possible but couldn't find enough data to confirm. Feel free to merge if you have some info. Geagea (talk) 09:02, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bagratuni[edit]

Hi! Do I understand correctly that you moved the identifiers from Bagratuni dynasty (Q4164435) to Origin of the Bagratid dynasties (Q7102493) because the identifiers are about the whole family and not its Armenian branch? If that the case, do you think it's worth merging with Origin of the Bagratid dynasties (Q21666947)? --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 19:17, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jahl de Vautban, Ya. I completely understand. I wrote the articles about the Georgian branch and the Bagratid in the Hebrew Wikipedia Geagea (talk) 21:21, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! This page has just been created. If you desire I can add you for National Library of Israel J9U ID (P8189); BTW, if you find mistakes in the OPAC SBN (= SBN author ID (P396)), like conflations of different authors, feel free to contact me! Bye, --Epìdosis 17:07, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Epìdosis. Yes, of course. Thanks. Geagea (talk) 17:57, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done and thanks again! Good evening, Epìdosis 18:12, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism removing J9U[edit]

hi Geagea, since you are engaged in J9U, FYI: user User talk:Rami alrifai deleted 94 National Library of Israel J9U ID (P8189) statements since January 26. I've already filled a report on Wikidata:Administrators'_noticeboard#Report_concerning_User:Rami_alrifai, but maybe you want to help reverting the statements. greetings, Wetterwolke (talk) 02:26, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Wetterwolke, thank for your notice. I'v revert the vandalism. Geagea (talk) 10:46, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

John Geometres[edit]

Hi! Why did you remove this? IMHO it is the correct ID. Thanks as always! --Epìdosis 14:04, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Epìdosis, thanks/ Fixed it. Geagea (talk) 14:16, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Meister LCz[edit]

Hello Geagea, you moved LCCN (Meister L. Cz.) from Master L. Cz. (Q6785046) to Master of the Tucher Altarpiece (Q1544980). I´am not sure that this is correct. brgds --Stephan Tournay (talk) 09:32, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Stephan Tournay, they have the same name but the LC her links to this GND which is different from this GND Geagea (talk) 10:00, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for answering Geagea, I´am doing and checking LCCN Numbers on this german LCCN page and found de:Meister des Tucheraltars popped up, asking for an update. Thus in this case LCCN n82131674 is attributing incorrectly GND 136428673 instead of GND 138378967. Ok, I leave it for the moment and ask someone in the German Wikipedia. --Stephan Tournay (talk) 12:03, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If so, please move the the J9U as LC as it based on it. Geagea (talk) 12:04, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

LCCN Karl Manitius (Q1606593) → Karl Manitius (Q15730342)[edit]

Hello again, also LCCN Karl Manitius was moved from "Karl Manitius" (1899-1979) (Q1606593) to "Karl Heinrich August Manitius" (1848-1921) (Q15730342). The book „Naturwissenschaft im beginnenden Mittelalter“ is from the year 1924, and could not be written from "Karl Heinrich August Manitius" beeing dead since 1921. --Stephan Tournay (talk) 09:51, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree about this on. Even though the LC link to this GND the publication of Naturwissenschaft im beginnenden Mittelalter mentioned in this GND. Thanks. Geagea (talk) 10:15, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Geagea, thanks a lot for the recent update. --Stephan Tournay (talk) 12:06, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
