Block review for 83.61.231.21

Greetings, I hope that an impartial administrator can review the blocking of 83.61.231.21. This editor has worked with me in the past, in fact they have worked to limit and reverse damage caused by a particularly disruptive sockpuppet. Unfortunately, @Multichill has blocked this editor for one week, with no warning and no explanation.

Apparently, this stems from some sort of dispute on James VII and II, when Duke of York, 1633 – 1701 (Q113459961), but it is difficult to tell the nature of the dispute since neither the administrator nor the IP editor have used talk pages, nor edit summaries, to explain themselves. What is apparent, however, is that Multichill has used three separate accounts to edit this item: his administrator account, @BotMultichill, and @BotMultichillT. Therefore, Multichill himself is heavily involved in this dispute, and clearly unable to remain impartial in the event of a block.

It seems to me that Multichill has imposed this block to "win" this dispute and erase 83.61.231.21's changes and keep them away from that item, as well as editing Wikidata at all, for one week. Now I am just a humble country editor, but this sort of behavior while involved would be improper for administrators at other wikis, and I hope that everyone here can appreciate the need for warnings, discussion, and explanations to be given, before, during and after blocks are meted out. @Elizium23: First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the trouble to review this case. On the other hand, the truth is that, on at least two occasions –here and here–, I exposed in the edit summary that item Q113459961 (created on 21:00, 6 August 2022) was a duplicate of item Q18686035 (created on 12:23, 28 December 2014).
After copying Q113459961's properties related to James II's painting into the oldest item (Q18686035), I treated to recicle Q113459961 with another Peter Lely's painting –because, although I knew there was a way to merge duplicates, I really wasn't sure if it had to be requested on Wikidata:Requests for deletions or somewhere else–. However, in fact, I was preparing reply to @Multichill on his talk page after being informed he reverted me a second time, but when I was about to send him my reply, I got the notification that I was blocked. So I've barely had a chance to explain the changes –it's also true that, unlike Commons or Wikipedia, where before publishing any edit you can use the edit summary to explain it, on Wikidata you only have the option to write a summary of edition when editions are undone and, although I try to collaborate respecting the policies of each project, it is true that sometimes, there are moments in which I forgot to indicate them, and I recognize that error on my part–.
I'm also sorry if it looks like I'm trying to bypass the block now, but it wasn't until now that I realized my connection changed automatically (I think I should create an account to avoid confusion). Anyway, I wanted to take advantage of commenting on it if I was required to respond. @Stv26 is not blocked here, or anywhere else on WMF projects. Stv26 is an editor in good standing with over 5,000 edits. If you are accusing this editor of being a block-evading sockpuppet, you had better open an investigation about that, and I will vouch for his good faith, because the initial block by @Multichill was unjust. I created James VII and II, when Duke of York, 1633 – 1701 (Q113459961) based on https://rkd.nl/en/explore/images/143625 . The item was vandalized to be about a completely different painting https://artuk.org/discover/artworks/sir-george-booth-16221684-1st-lord-delamer-of-dunham-massey-228619 . The vandalism continued so I blocked the IP and protected the item from future harm. Unfortunately IP vandalism of paintings is very common and often not caught (or much much later) and probably having created over 500.000 of them, I'm often involved. People should just create an account. I always take the time to explain things to new editors. I stopped investing time in IP editors on Wikidata a long a time ago because that's a complete waste of time. If it's a duplicate, you should just properly merge it instead of changing it to a completely different painting. Of course you would need to be logged in for that to see the gadget. Block evasion

This LTA is using multiple IPs trying to harm another users, including me, in some way accusing them of evading blocks. @Ymblanter is completely right. This guy is a literally unblockable sock. He cycles through IPv4 addresses faster than we can report them. The only time he gets nailed is creating a new account and uploading dozens more photos to Commons, then we discover it and block that account. But the IPs just keep coming. I documented a lot of it on Meta. I suggested rangeblocks, but unless the Stewards wanted to block /14 ranges of every damn ISP in Italy, literally, there is nothing that can be done about this abuse. Personally, I don’t think it’s a good idea to just revert, especially not it repurposing happened years ago. Edit request on the data complete gadget

Can someone take a look at This edit request on the DataComplete gadget ? The main issue with the current version is that it make synchronous IOs to get the datas and that it blocks the Wikidata item page for like several seconds in some cases. Another solved issue is an incompatibility with the inverse statement gadget.

I have blocked the aforementioned user from editing in the main namespace due to a considerably large number of accidental item hijackings stemming from an undeclared and faulty use of Pywikibot—conflating albums and record labels with literally anything else if the Catalan label happens to be the same—for some project of theirs. While I've reverted edits to some of the affected items, any help to clean up the remaining issues with items they edited but did not create is highly appreciated. Can anyone assure me that this page is more useless than other page in the same language dealing of other French city like Montpellier or Saint-Étienne ? In my opinion, this person is clearly abusing his power as an administrator. Could anynone try to stop him from doing anyting he want ? Wikidata is not intended for (re?)solving conflicts between users that were emerged outside of Wikidata, unlike MetaWiki or community portals in specific wikis. WikiBayer is a global administrator (steward), and as a steward he has an extremely indirect attitude towards the Wikidata workspace. They have not edited for three months. Another item was then deleted by Andreasmperu, which was later restored as notable per discussion, Q15304738. These others were, however, left deleted when they should have been too restored. Now I have looked at an example of a page, science tourism (Q10385531), I previously manually rolled back, and the history indicates that it's only getting worse and needs a whole lot of undoing. Vandalism of Q3937931 and Q60839013

User:Epicamused keeps merging these two items (Mediaset Infinity (Q3937931) and Mediaset Infinity (Q60839013)) when they're clearly separate entities. According to the Wikipedia pages (which themselves have experienced vandalism and attempts at revisionist history), the first is a streaming service opened in 2007 and closed in 2010, and the second is a streaming service that replaced the previous one.

Mediaset Infinity (Q3937931) has been vandalised before by IPs, and action was taken at that time. This time it's a registered user. No. These are separate projects. Wikipedias can't decide whether two Wikidata items should be merged, and Wikidata can't decide whether some Wikipedia pages should be merged. The Wikipedia page clearly states that Rivideo was closed, and the source (archive link) for that statement supports it. You can also look at the archived Rivideo website to verify that it indeed does state that the service was closed.
