New GND humans without sex

[edit]

If you create new GND humans (example), could you add sex/Geschlecht? Among 1 mio GND humans, only ~5000 Wikidata:Database reports/Complex constraint violations/P227 miss sex. Of course, a creation of a new human in WD without sex is nice too. MrProperLawAndOrder (talk) 20:29, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@MrProperLawAndOrder: I do not know the sex of said person. --Emu (talk) 20:39, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ortschaften in Österreich

[edit]

LG, Braveheart (talk) 09:01, 2 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Braveheart: Kein spezieller Grund, nein.

Frauen in Bewegung 1848–1938 ID

[edit]

Feel free to re-use|mix. ;-) --Mfchris84 (talk) 21:10, 26 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

SELECT DISTINCT ?item ?itemLabel WHERE {

  ?item ?p ?statement.
  ?statement prov:wasDerivedFrom ?refNode.
  ?refNode pr:P248 wd:Q98582343.
  SERVICE wikibase:label { bd:serviceParam wikibase:language "[AUTO_LANGUAGE],en". }
}
Try it!
Try it! --Mfchris84 (talk) 11:23, 27 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Danke!

--Emu (talk) 21:45, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Eigenschaft in Mix'n'match-Katalog ergänzen

[edit]

D3rT!m (talk) 16:41, 12 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

@D3rT!m Leider nein, dazu braucht man besondere Rechte. as far as I remember, @Madamebiblio has the extended rights to connect the MnM catalogue to the property, maybe they could help? Emu (talk) 17:00, 12 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
D3rT!m (talk) 12:58, 13 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Gelbes Kasterl: „You are not a catalog admin, so you can't change any of the setting below. If you want to be a catalog admin, ask Magnus!“ --Emu (talk) 13:12, 13 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Problems with country of citizenship (P27)Cisleithania (Q533534) claims

[edit]

While trying to track down the origin of use of Cisleithania (Q533534) in some infoboxes, I noticed that you previously argued against using Austria–Hungary (Q28513) for country of citizenship (P27). However, the term "Cisleithania" was not used in relevant documents, so a different solution should be found. I invite you to joint the discussion. -- Smihael (talk) 18:21, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Biographisches Lexikon der Münzmeister

[edit]

--Emu (talk) 09:34, 17 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Danke, der Import ging ja in Rekordzeit. Danke auch für die neu erstellten Datenobjekte. --Kolja21 (talk) 15:01, 17 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Mass Content Deletion

[edit]

Hi Emu,

Please can you help me? I've added a large bulk of information surrounding the artist looms.. Today, I see that this was deleted as it wasn't notable, but the artist and the sources all clearly meet the criteria requested. How do we get this updated again? I strictly followed the protocol and feel that there's an oversight here. I do not understand why this has been flagged, or why all associated links have been removed.

Please can you help me? I have gone over all of the notability spec pages by wiki. Can you please go over this properly for me? Jhgk5 (talk) 07:28, 28 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Jhgk5 See Wikidata:Guide to requests for undeletion and User:Bovlb/How to create an item on Wikidata so that it won't get deleted. I have looked again at the items you created couldn’t find any external identifiers or reputable sources that would satisfy WD:N. You are of course free to provide new information and I will check again. --Emu (talk) 12:53, 28 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your reply Emu. I am sorry to ask for more clarity - I thought all the wikidata I added matched the criteria on the links provided, which I had a read of before uploading. I hope you can help clear up my confusion - I must be missing something.
Eg. the artist looms. has a Musicbrainz ID, ISNI number, Songkick, Genius, IMDb and Discogs profiles, all of which are third-party recognised authority databases. The IMDb page is for a screened and reviewed documentary about him, which was made by Jamie Flatters who has his own wiki for notability (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Flatters).
looms. has released albums with Alpha Pup Records as well as Blah Records, both of which have wikipedia pages and are notable in and of themselves (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Pup_Records) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blah_Records).
He was subject to long-form interviews in reputable publications such as Passion of the Weiss, which I have seen referenced on other artists official wikipedia pages (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Woods reference 10). He also did a radio interview in Berlin for FluxFM which again is reputable and has its own wikipedia page (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flux_FM). These are independent, reliable and substantial.
I think there must be something I'm missing as all of the above matches the criteria of being reputable, authorised and having wikipedia pages of their own.
I would really appreciate your help. I want to get into regularly contributing to wikipedia. The Wikidata for looms. took me a long time. I want to make sure I get it right and know what I'm missing. I appreciate I added a lot of self-published platforms but this was to interlink all the press and databases. Perhaps I structured it wrong too? Please help. Thank you Emu. Jhgk5 (talk) 13:34, 28 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Just to add to the above - I think my issue was in formatting if you can confirm. I failed to add any references for key points. If you can confirm the above is ok, I will happily correct all my errors and upload a properly formatted page. My first of many I hope. I apologise for making this error. Jhgk5 (talk) 13:41, 28 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Jhgk5: Musicbrainz, ISNI, Songkick, Genius, IMDb and Discogs are all user-generated content, i. e. pretty much anybody can create identifiers, so that doesn’t count, I’m afraid.
As for the other reasons you provided: Please provide links to the resources you mention. Note however that many of them don’t sound too promising. --Emu (talk) 18:58, 28 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your help Emu. Understood re. user-generated. I suppose this is confusing as they were already in place, and noted as authority databases. They would be accepted on Wikidata provided other sources confirm notability?
Links below for review - again, all of the sources here have their own Wikipedia pages as notable references:
1) Blah Release - shown here in an independent interview and review - https://www.repeatmag.com/post/languid-oceans-album-review-and-interview
2) Alpha Pup Release - shown here on their official channels - I appreciate now that this isn't going to be seen as independent sourcing but it confirms the release by Alpha Pup which is notable in itself. I believe that makes them acceptable? https://www.facebook.com/alphapuprecords/photos/a.128222238446/10157362483808447/?type=3&locale=zh_CN / https://languidlooms.bandcamp.com/album/out-of-innards.
3) As above, I appreciate the links aren't independent but for the same reason I will include them here as Jamie Flatters has his own Wikipedia - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt36691029/?ref_=ra_sb_ln. Also from official channel - https://loandbeholdconstruction.co.uk/Buy-what-looms.
4) Long-form interview on Passion of the Weiss - https://www.passionweiss.com/2023/04/18/ive-been-making-songs-for-myself-forever-an-interview-with-looms/. This also references the Blah Release.
5) Long-form Berlin Radio interview on FluxFM - https://archiv.fluxfm.de/languid-looms-10-jahre-schuelerpaten-berlin-morningshow-am-nachmittag/. This link includes audio to the full interview.
If you could tell me why the sources work or not, that would be a great help. I see you say many don't sound too promising - please let me know why. Thank you again for your time and assistance. Jhgk5 (talk) 04:45, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Jhgk5 I have restored those items. Please be sure to add appropriate sources lest they might again be deleted in the future. --Emu (talk) 05:53, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Emu! For my own clarity, do I now need to go through the wikidata and add the links I included here as 'references' for each applicable item, and delete all items that do not have a reference? Let me know what else I have to do to get the page correct Jhgk5 (talk) 05:55, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Jhgk5 Yeah. You can’t delete items by yourself though. --Emu (talk) 05:58, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Great thanks. I will do this now.
Can you also confirm if these sources (confirmed on wikidata) are enough to make a wikipedia page? I worked on one a few weeks ago and it didn't get accepted, but I understand that you've confirmed the sources are valid enough? Jhgk5 (talk) 06:00, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Jhgk5 Every project has its own notability criteria, usually much stricter than those of Wikidata. --Emu (talk) 08:50, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
OK. I really appreciate your help. I hope you don't mind me messaging you if something else crops up. Jhgk5 (talk) 11:21, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi Emu, I've just updated the article in question:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Looms._(musical_artist)
Can you please help me understand if this is correct? All info is processed through the same wikidata info you've confirmed above. It's not yet linked to any images on wiki commons but that's made up here - https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Looms._(Musical_Artist).
Please let me know if I'm missing anything again. I appreciate you've said that this is much stricter than Wikidata and I'd love to know if I can do anything to fix this where needed. Thanks so much for all your help you've cleared up so much for me. Jhgk5 (talk) 15:08, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Jhgk5 Again, Wikipedia is a different project. I can’t and won’t help you with that. --Emu (talk) 15:31, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Understood - apologies. Jhgk5 (talk) 03:39, 30 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Vermischung?

[edit]

--Emu (talk) 17:22, 10 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

instance of (P31) =cadastral municipality of Austria (Q17376095) entfernen macht Probleme

[edit]

--Emu (talk) 17:10, 17 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, doch lieber doppelt als gar nicht. Vielleicht sollte man die ohnehin kaputte Property trotzdem reparieren, ist ja jetzt schon gut abgelegen. lg --Herzi Pinki (talk) 17:18, 17 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Herzi Pinki Sollte erledigt sein.--Emu (talk) 19:45, 17 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

locality number in Austria

[edit]

Hallo.

--Emu (talk) 13:16, 1 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

spBot archived request without decision

[edit]

Hello @Emu:,

The @spBot: has archived the request for undeletion Q134544949 without a clear and final decision.

How can you help with this matter?

I'm hoping for significant cooperation from you on this issue.

I trust you. Mr.FarFar (talk) 20:12, 9 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Have you tried to reach out to the original deleting admin? --Emu (talk) 20:15, 9 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Emu:,
Yeah, I contacted the admin who deleted the item on the Administrators' noticeboard but he didn't give me any details about the item's notability. He just mentioned stuff about the ARZwiki admin and sockpuppet operations.
I think there's some issue between him and the previous ARZwiki admin, so he's trying to avoid cooperating on this matter. Mr.FarFar (talk) 21:12, 9 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
So you did not contact the original deleting admin as Bovlb suggested. Anyway, although I might have decided otherwise, the decision to delete the item (especially its recreations) does not seem to violate established consensus. As it stands, I see no reason to intervene by restoring the item. --Emu (talk) 21:29, 9 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Dear @Emu:
Thanks so much for getting back to me quickly and for taking the time to look into this. Your deep experience as a Wikidata admin really shines through, especially from your contributions on the Administrators' noticeboard – I truly appreciate that.
Just wanted to update you: I've also started a discussion with admin Alaa on his talk page and I'm currently waiting to hear back from him. My main hope is that he'll focus purely on the notability of the person we're discussing, sticking strictly to the Wikidata:Notability (WD:N) criteria, particularly criterion #2, which states: "It refers to an instance of a clearly identifiable conceptual or material entity that can be described using serious and publicly available references."
I really hope we can avoid getting into the sockpuppet accounts or any of those previous issues that have been around since 2020. If we can't get a clear resolution by just focusing on the notability rules, I'd really appreciate it if another administrator could step in to help us reach a final decision. I'm just concerned the conversation might drift back to those past issues with Mr. Fuad Al-Qrize instead of the actual notability.
Thanks again for your time! --Mr.FarFar (talk) 02:11, 14 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Bzgl. deiner Anmerkung zu meinem Bot-RfA

[edit]

Pardon?

[edit]

Hello Emu. What do you mean?[3] Regards -- Plexci (talk) 16:44, 18 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Plexci I don’t want to hear language like wants to take Wikidata as a hostage or disruptive when Eiragorn is clearly acting in good faith. It’s unbecoming for our project. Present your case to WD:PC, get some outside opinion and we can all move on with our lives. --Emu (talk) 18:40, 18 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
As I said, some users delete such enties completely[4]. The problem cannot be soveld by a discussion of 2 users, nor is a consensus of 2 users in sense of Wikidata. The template which imports data from Wikidata is used by e.g. French Wiki, Italian Wiki, Catalan Wiki, Spanish Wiki, Russian Wiki and so on. Not a single user has to decide what they get, who also rejects this identification for German Wiki. Now I've found the discussion in de-wiki. According to this disccusion there have been about 2000 links (Nov 2004) which have to be fixed. Here they blew it up to more then 10.000 links. On Dec 15, 2004 last post was "Ich denke auch, dass dieser Thread damit erledigt ist". So no problem any more. Wikidata is a global and independent project, and that was what I meant that one user wants to take Wikidata as a hostage for data he rejects. Regards -- Plexci (talk) 08:43, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Plexci Please accept the fact that I will not decide this content issue. It’s not for admins to decide content issues. I have laid out a path to find consensus. You may or may not follow it. --Emu (talk) 12:44, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the deletion of the Wikidata item about me

[edit]

Hello Emu

I am Samir Nagizadeh. I Google'd my name and saw that the info panel was missing. I then saw that the article referring to me was deleted. Since it's not proper for someone to create an item for themself, I can not bring it back. But I believe that I am notable, because many publicly available resources, such as journalistic articles have devoted significant attention to me. I can send you a list of these in order for you to re-evaluate your decision. Thank you. Çınarcan (talk) 10:05, 24 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

(Q108751698) Please read Wikidata:Guide to requests for undeletion and User:Bovlb/How to create an item on Wikidata so that it won't get deleted and then provide appropriate sources here. --Emu (talk) 10:53, 24 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hello again, I have read the guidelines that you have sent me. Thank you for finding the Q id of the item, as I didn't know I had to provide that when I wrote you.
I do have a clear conflict of interest here, as I am the person himself. So I'm declaring this here and only providing you with the sources and websites, without making any arguments. I also declare here that I won't make any changes that may be seen as subjective, and will only provide objective information about myself if my item is brought back.
My single (song) was talked about in detail in the reputable news source KRT. https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/KRT_TV
I have been interviewed by or talked in detail in several local/minor news sources:
I also have an IMDB identifier that I can add to the item once brought back.

@Çınarcan I have restored the item based on some of the sources you provided. --Emu (talk) 17:38, 24 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi Emu, all of the above-mentioned websites are low-credibility media platforms that publish paid content for personal PR purposes. For a small fee, they will promote virtually anything you want. Wooze 11:27, 12 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Emu, I blocked the user indefinitely on Commons for spamming, Tunar.ee is Çınarcan's old account as I see from the upload logs. They uploaded the same files. Regards. Kadı Message 13:40, 18 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your input.

Wooze With all due respect, while some of the sources I have provided may not be globally recognized, they are nonetheless publicly accessible, independent, and directly focused on covering my work. This aligns with Wikidata's notability guidelines.

It is not accurate to label all these media platforms as "low credibility" or "paid PR content" in a blanket manner, especially without concrete evidence. For example:

KRT TV is a nationally recognized television channel in Turkey and has its own Wikipedia article. They have published coverage regarding my work here: https://www.krtv.com.tr/samir-nagizadeh-yeni-single-parcasiyla-geliyor

Other platforms such as *Demokrat Haber*, *Objektif Haber*, and *TimeTürk* are long-standing and established Turkish news outlets.

Emu

I would also like to clarify that I have had significant disagreements and conflicts with user Wooze on other platforms in the past. As a result, I have intentionally refrained from engaging with them for a long time.

Their current insistence on targeting me here—without acknowledging this history of personal tension—may cast doubt on the objectivity of this process. I respectfully ask that you consider this context in your evaluation.Çınarcan (talk) 20:39, 12 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Page Deleted

[edit]

Dear Emu,

I hope this message finds you well. I noticed that the pages about Alexander Yakush(Q134585391) and Avix Jets(his company) were deleted due to not meeting the notability policy.

I have several reliable sources supporting these pages, including a published book, interviews, press releases, and more. I would be very grateful if you could kindly advise me on what improvements or additions are needed to ensure the pages meet the guidelines and can be retained.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance!

Dear Emu,
I hope you're doing well.
I kindly ask you to consider restoring the deleted Wikidata item about Alexander Yakush (entrepreneur Q134585391) and Avix Jets(his company), which was previously removed due to notability concerns.
Since then, I have carefully read and understood all the rules and policies regarding item creation on Wikidata, including the notability criteria, conflict of interest guidelines, and the requirement to maintain a neutral tone.
I fully commit to following these policies and contributing constructively.
I am ready to provide multiple reliable and independent sources demonstrating notability, including:
– A published book (with ISBN)
– Several independent interviews (VocalMedia, Medium)
– Press coverage
– Crunchbase and IMDb profiles
– Verified social media accounts
– And more.
- Also he has Google Panel.
If possible, I would be grateful if you could undelete the item so that I may properly update it with the required references and structure.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Alexmorheus

GND

[edit]

--Emu (talk) 22:36, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

strategic advise needed

[edit]

Hi Emu, need a strategic advise where to best put the problems stated in User:Herzi Pinki/problems to get them fixed. Could be WD, could also be WP:de (de:Wikipedia Diskussion:WikiProjekt Denkmalpflege?), the forum, pages specific for Germany? --Herzi Pinki (talk) 15:28, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hm, difficult, maybe @User:Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) could help with a query for the overly long descriptions? Fixing them could be done with OpenRefine or QS. --Emu (talk) 10:44, 25 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I don’t think that’s necessary at the moment, since there’s already a query on the linked page? @Herzi Pinki: I’d suggest coordinating it on Wikidata and pinging Wikidata:WikiProject Germany (it doesn’t have a talk page but AFAIK the people in it are reasonably responsive when pinged on property proposals). Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 13:12, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

undeletion request

[edit]

The following deleted items are related to Mitch Halley ('jan Misali') and associated web series Conlang Critic:

At the time they were deleted, the deletion rationale was that the individual didn't meet WD:N#2. Whether or not this is still true, there is another consideration now, namely WD:N#1: With the recent decision by LangCom to bring Toki Pona Wikipedia (Q28970868) back into the Wikimedia fold, the page currently at https://wikipesija.org/wiki/jan_Misali will be at w:tok:jan Misali and need to have a sitelink on Wikidata. The other items would then fall under WD:N#3. — Arlo Barnes (talk) 02:01, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

If I understand correctly, there is no WD:N #1 notability as of today. — Emu (talk) 12:24, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Well, if you would like to wait, it likely won't be a very long wait. — Arlo Barnes (talk) 14:43, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Specifically, it took nearly but not quite 60 days. — Arlo Barnes (talk) 23:11, 26 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Restored. Not so sure about the notability of some items … — Emu (talk) 14:05, 27 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I'll ask tokwiki about that relative to their on-wiki notability standards. If the person's creative outputs aren't notable, then probably neither are they, and perhaps vice-versa. But if all is notable for a given wiki, then Wikidata doesn't have much choice in the matter. — Arlo Barnes (talk) 23:03, 27 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Bitte um Meinung

[edit]

Hallo.

--Emu (talk) 20:41, 22 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
