Change property data type

Can someone change the datatype of NCI Thesaurus ID (P1748), Patientplus ID (P1461), ICPC 2 ID (P667), EC enzyme number (P591) and ICD-9-CM (P1692) to external id ? Thanks Gstupp (talk) 00:34, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

Not done Administrators cannot do this and it has to be approved by the community first, see Wikidata:Identifier migration. Then, the developers can take care of that. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 12:25, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
@Gstupp: Note that all these have been discussed and some were definitely considered inappropriate as external id's due to either quality issues in wikidata or their intrinsic nature, for example on EC enzyme number (P591) "If different enzymes (for instance from different organisms) catalyze the same reaction, then they receive the same EC number." this is not an identifier." Some of the others however may be suitable after a bit of checking and perhaps cleanup. So please comment on the appropriate pages linked by Matěj Suchánek. MeSH ID needs new URL

Hello,

I am Jakub Flaska an I am a contractor for NIH/NLM. We have retired an old project for browsing MeSH Terms. Therefore links from Wikipedia are not working. We'll need to update URL as soon as possible.

Property page: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P486

Formater URL is: https://www.nlm.nih.gov/cgi/mesh/2016/MB_cgi?field=uid&term=$1

The new URL is: https://meshb.nlm.nih.gov/#/record/ui?ui=$1

Example (Yellow Fever): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_fever

Old link (Right now link on Wikipedia NOT WORKING!): https://www.nlm.nih.gov/cgi/mesh/2017/MB_cgi?field=uid&term=D015004

New link: https://meshb.nlm.nih.gov/#/record/ui?ui=D015004

If any further questions please contact me at: jakub [dot] flaska <at> nih (dot) gov

If this could be implemented soon, that would be great!

Trying to add the EN version of CS and ESP site

Hi, I've made the EN variant of a page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authors%27_Reading_Month), which I am trying to link with the CS variant (https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C4%9Bs%C3%ADc_autorsk%C3%A9ho_%C4%8Dten%C3%AD). This worked from the EN page, but I was blocked from adding it to the CS page. Could you please add it? Thanks. Pavel.

I performed a nul-edit on cswiki (an edit without changing anything, just press edit and save) and now cswiki also shows the enwiki link. It was just cache that prevented the link from showing. Mbch331 (talk) 19:54, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

It is pretty common at dewiki to host these pages in user namespace, so plenty of similar pages are affected by this as well. An alternative solution would be to use oldschool interwiki links at Wikipedias. —MisterSynergy (talk) 10:46, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi fellow admins, so I noticed two accounts that seem to be used by the same person. I asked the user add User_talk:Oursana#Sock_puppet.3F and it was denied. We don't have local check users so I asked for one at meta, but the steward closed is without doing the check. Now what? Missing items

Several items are in Mix'n'Match against Quora topic ID (P3417), but the items are no longer on Wikidata, for example:

  • Q5427417 - "FXStreet"
  • Q5435501 - "Farm-Fresh-To-You"
  • Q6206780 - "Jobberman"
  • Q7339176 - "RMKV"
  • Q7418617 - "Sankalp-Semiconductor"
  • Q24449361 - "QiK-Stay"
  • Q18352739 - "JFDI-Asia"

Please can someone check and tell me whether these have been deleted, and if so why? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:15, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

Seems like those items have been deleted per the notability policy, no sitelinks, and no links from other items to them. Stryn (talk) 16:33, 10 February 2017 (UTC)
Thank you; I suspected that might be the case. I wonder whether any attempts were made, before the items were deleted, to check whether they met the other arm of our notability policy: "refers to an instance of a clearly identifiable conceptual or material entity. The entity must be notable, in the sense that it can be described using serious and publicly available references."? A cursory web search shows that at least some do. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:26, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
Like previously said, the references should be noted in the item itself. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 14:30, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

Instance of: Canada

There are approximately 100 items that claim to be instance of (P31) Canada (Q16):

  ?item wdt:P31 wd:Q16 .
  SERVICE wikibase:label { bd:serviceParam wikibase:language "en" . }
}

Try it!

Yes, because each item contains a Russian and an Italian Wikipedia links.--Ymblanter (talk) 06:44, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
@Ymblanter:, Can you please walk me through how to fix that? --Osa osa 5 (talk) 04:52, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
@Osa osa 5:, I do not think there is an easy way to fix this. If you think this is an error, you can convince the Russian and the Italian communities to merge the categories. If you think this is not an error, then we definitely stay with two items, but you can still move sitelinks from item to item, if you think they are not added there properly.--Ymblanter (talk) 06:28, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
@Ymblanter:, Thanks for the explanation. --Osa osa 5 (talk) 08:14, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

Martinvl

Hi, This user requested deletion of a valid entry Alfred Vincent (Q28740157), just to make a point on Commons (c:Commons:Valued image candidates/Tombe d'Alfred et Émilie Vincent, cimetière des Rois, Genève.jpg), where all other people do not agree with his opinion. Regards, Yann (talk) 19:35, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

Okay. Stryn (talk) 19:48, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
This user has had a problematic approach that led to his indefinite blocks on en.wiki and simple.wiki. If this keeps up, perhaps they should be blocked here too. Wikidata is not a battleground. --Rschen7754 01:31, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
User:Martinvl is mistaken in his assertion on Commons that, in regards to notability, "Wikidata is an index of what already exists in Wikimedia projects, not what might exist". I suggest he reads Wikidata:Notability. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:29, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
  • @Pigsonthewing: Wikidata:Notability contains the following text: "at least one valid sitelink to a page on Wikipedia, Wikivoyage, Wikisource, Wikiquote, Wikinews, Wikibooks, Wikidata, Wikispecies, Wikiversity, or Wikimedia Commons.
  • ...
  • In addition, an item with only a sitelink to a category page in Wikimedia Commons is not allowed on main article items...
  • ..."
Since it is a pre-requisite that one of these sites exist (special rules for Wikimedia Commons) then it follows that Wikidata is an index (albeit incomplete) of what is already there, not what might exist, even if the word "index" does not explicitly appear. Martinvl (talk) 15:39, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
All of which is part of just one of three alternative criteria; so not a "pre-requisite". And I was referring to your claim on Commons, which I quoted, nothing else. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:02, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
For the record, I opposed Yann's entry on Wikidata on the basis that it did not follow the Wikidata rules on notability and that he was misusing Wikidata to steamroller a Valued Image nomination through the VI process. In order to regularise the position, I invited him to write an appropriate article on the French Wikipedia (French is his mother tounge, and is also the most appropriate language for the Wikimedia Commons item in question). He declined, and, rather than to compound the situation, I wrote the article fr:Alfred Vincent (médecin suisse) (my first article on the French Wikipedia) which included his image from Wikimedia Commons. If you look at the history (Historique) of that article, you will see that it was created at 22:10, 2.5 hr after Yann's complaint above. I request therefore that User:Rschen7754's comments above be disregarded and that the matter be allowed to rest. Martinvl (talk) 15:39, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
Just to know: I restored the item only because there was a source/reference in item, so the item falls under the third criterion. Without source the item was not notable. --ValterVB (talk) 17:22, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi all! When we get into Wikidata from Basque Wikipedia or just click on the Wikidata icon above in the left, it brings you to https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Azala (azala=main page in basque), an blank or inexistant page. In a number of articles, Property:P143 is attached to a statement as a qualifier, when it ought to be a reference. Any chance we can block edits that make this mistake, or correct them immediately with instead-triggers? Of course someone could build a bot to run around after them, but there'd be a time lag.
