"Lua error: not enough memory" on list of properties

I was just looking at the List of properties for places and I noticed that the Administrative territorial entity identifier section has a bunch of big red messages at the top that say "Lua error: out of memory". I tried to click the edit button for that section to see if I could spot the problem in the markup, but that gave me an error that I was trying to edit a section that did not exist. And I couldn't identify anything wrong in the markup for the entire page. Anyway, hopefully this is the best place to report this issue. Thanks, IagoQnsi (talk) 15:06, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Actually, wow, scrolled down a bit, and the entire rest of the page is absent of pretty much any content except section headers, table headers, and lots of Lua errors. -IagoQnsi (talk) 15:07, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
There is nothing wrong with the markup, it's just that making such lists requires loading far too many items to fit into the 50mb permitted on a single page, I do not think that much can be done, except splitting the page or making it English-only. --Zolo (talk) 08:04, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

I've just warned the user to stop creating non-notable items (more than 50 deleted and many more still in need of a check). Unfortunately, I won't be having much time to follow up on this in the next days. So, any help would be more than welcome, Andreasm háblame / just talk to me 05:01, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

some mislinkage of jp wikipedia to other languages

Hi, User:Ws227 was reporting to Taiwan Wikipedia Community facebook clubpage that the following wikidata link looks weird -

I am not familiar with Japanese, but he sounds very eager to deal with this. Can someone help him? Thank you.

Richard Epstein

w:Richard Epstein has his Wikidata link pointing to disambiguation Q7325525 instead of the correct biographical Q7323685. The problem is caused by Q7325525 which points to Wikipidia incorrectly and the value cannot be deleted. Can someone delete the value? A Wikipedia disambiguation page must have been overwritten to move the biography. Do we have a way of tracking these errors? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 23:15, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

Link has been moved. And the DP item has been deleted. I don't think there is a good way of tracking these errors. Mbch331 (talk) 06:15, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
If they have sufficient data, these appear on Wikidata:Database reports/identical birth and death dates. --- Jura 08:28, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
Q7325525 was a Disambiguation page, which was replaced on enwiki to a normal page. On Wikidata nothing was changed, so it didn't contain any dates. Mbch331 (talk) 09:01, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
We will end up with an error each time someone converts an article to a disambiguation page and the other way around. Discussion on commons category template including some aspects of Wikidata

Dear Administrators of Wikidata,

I would just like to take your attention to a discussion on en-wikipedia on how the template commons category should be used and in this context wikidata is mentionned by some users (but my impression is they are not that good informed on wikidata). You find this discussion on en:Template_talk:Commons_category#Should_categories_always_be_specified.3F

widar

this user made a huge number of edits with widar like this [1] are they right? --Rippitippi (talk) 02:23, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Partially. I just read the op of Jean-Jacques Georges and the reason for deleting them is that author (Q482980) is too generic, so the deletion part is correct, however the user seems to forget the other part: adding the right value. Just mass deleting wrong values is always a wrong approach, there should be broad consensus about it (and the Bistro isn't the right place as non-French speaking people (like me) won't visit that place and won't take part in discussions. Most people here do understand English, so Project chat seems to be a better place. And I don't believe there has been a discussion there. Mbch331 (talk) 10:13, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi. Ok, I'll ask the question later at Project chat. I seem to be done with the pages that appear on the French wikipedia. However, I do think, as suggested by BurritoBazooka, that the solution would be to remove the "instance of (P31) : occupation (Q13516667)" entry on the item author (Q482980) so it won't appear anymore as an occupation.
Take note that I also added writer (Q36180) on a lot of pages, but then I noticed that "Category:Writer" on wikipedia (which I used as a criteria to choose which element to add) is also too broad a term and that it added the element on people who are not exactly "writers", at least not of prose (poets, playwrights). Another problem is that author (Q482980) is also added wrongly to people who are not writers at all, at least not as it is generally envisioned (i.e. scholars who write about their fields of expertise, like any scholar does), so writer (Q36180) cannot replace it everywhere.
Anyway, I think there is one much broader subject which should be addressed, which is the automatic import of data from wikidata into wikipedia's templates (that is the reason I came here in the first place). Please see here my exchange with Danrok, who also seems to think that it is a bad practice, as it results in an awful lot of "garbage" (his words) being imported in the French wikipedia, and possibly other projects. An answer should be found to this problem...
As for the deletion/adding part, there might be a solution for scholars : make searches with the categories ("Linguist", "Historian", etc) and then adding these elements at the same time "author" is being deleted. The same thing might work with "novelist", which is less broad a term - especially in English - than just "writer". Jean-Jacques Georges (talk) 10:23, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Hello,

Could someone change the title Still Life with Bananas (Nature Morte aux Banananes) to Still Life with Bananas (Nature Morte aux Bananes) (typo with an extra na in banananes). I don't understand how I can't do this myself. sThank you Bu193 (talk) 11:24, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

Can you please provide a source? Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 11:25, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
No need of a source since banananes does not exist in French (the only used form is bananes) and if you search for such title Nature Morte aux Banananes (with the typo), you will have very few entries, which would be surprising for a well-known painter as Braque if there weren't errors in the title. Bu193 (talk) 11:36, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
I changed it myself. This was an obvious typo. Bu193 (talk) 11:46, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
