I'm Innocent

I tried to add my name to WD:A/TL, but failed, since somebody thinks that page have to be translated. I am not familiar with how such pages are edited and therefor here ask you to add my (user)name. I was elected 10 January 2014 and resigned 11 June 2014. And, yes, I changed usernames from Lavallen to Innocent bystander during this time. -- Innocent bystander (talk) 17:37, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Fixed. There was an error in the table (onlyinclude's closing tag in a wrong place). --Stryn (talk) 18:00, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
Speaking of which, some admins were desysopped earlier this week, and they need to be notified on their talk page and be added to the list. --Rschen7754 18:06, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Badge added

Hi. I promoted this article to Good. Recently we've received a message saying everytime someone promote a GA or FA should update WikiData link. So I tried, but I found a filter who stopped me twice because I'm not "an admin" or something like a respetable member with lot of contributions (in Wikidata, I suppose, because in es: I've got more than 50.000 edits). I'm also ACAD in es: (users than admin Feature Article Candidatures), so I see no reason to not update this budge. In the other hand, in es: to promote an article to Good you only need to write a GA or FA, nothing else. So, this is a problem.

  • Shall we do be admin in es: to add GA/FA script here? - That should be clear then, I think
  • This is not an article in fact, but a "Good List" (Anexo bueno, AXB), thing apparently you don´t have set yet here
  • Can someone add this article to GA list?

Thanks, --Ganímedes (talk) 22:58, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

The badge has been added by Jarould who is not an admin here. Apparently, you were not autoconfirmed here, now I added the flag. If in the future you have problems adding badges please let us know. Concerning good lists, you can just propose a new badge, but my personal opinion is that since this is the feauture currently only use by very few projects (I guess only es.wp and pt.wp), it might be easier to continue working with the GA badge.--Ymblanter (talk) 11:33, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for rights and explanations. Happy New Year. --Ganímedes (talk) 11:58, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

————— Sorry again. Our ACAD (FA Candidatures Administrators) are choose once a year (maximum 7 users), starting on March 1st. Since bots not longer add badges to articles (as far as we know), add them is now part of their jobs. I know this is probably a rare question but, is it possible to give them a "confirmed" permission here (if they don´t have) in order to updates at least FA badges? If not, no problem. If they should request by themselves, ok. If name should be list somewhere, just say. Thanks a lot. --Ganímedes (talk) 02:27, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

I think it is the most sensible to file a joint request on March 1 at Wikidata:Requests for permissions. If there is a problem with the current administrators, one can file a request now. Administrators may be reluctant to flag users with zero Wikidata edits, so that it might be a good idea to ask them to make some edits here to demonstrate they know what they are doing.--Ymblanter (talk) 08:46, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
I understand, but this is a not common situation. It could be safer if a bot update badges with some frequence, but this option seems to be not plausible. If not, on march someone we'll open a request. Thanks a lot. --Ganímedes (talk) 14:29, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

I don't think this needs escalation of any sort yet. Why didn't you warn him beforehand if you thought the comments were problematic? It's a broad principle that you shouldn't come here before you have discussed your particular concerns with the user in question, plus you never notified @Mjbmr: about this thread.--Jasper Deng (talk) 19:06, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Wrong deletion

Why was Major Cineplex Ratchayothin (Q6738040) deleted? The page on the Thai wikipedia was deleted, but the statements I added should make clear it is an item which falls into the notability criteria by itself. Besides, the Thai article was probably deleted due to bad quality or copyvio, not because of notability. Why do I have to add pages on my watchlist to catch cases like this? Items with statements should not be deleted without discussion. Ahoerstemeier (talk) 09:01, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Where are the sources for your statements? You cannot use criterion 2 in WD:N without them; a reference to Wikipedia does not count. Also I think it's about time that we clarified the policy; only criterion 1 has seen significant updates recently.--Jasper Deng (talk) 09:14, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
As I cannot see what that item was about, most likely a temple - what would be a valid reference that a temple with name XYZ exists at location ABC? Weblink to the Google map which shows it? And something I always have problem with - items are deleted without contacting anyone who worked on them, if the statements need references, why delete the valid information instead of asking for the references??? Ahoerstemeier (talk) 09:49, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
I have restored Q6738040 as it is indeed notable. Something being notable and describable by references does not always mean that the statements within such an item can be described by those references. ·addshore· talk to me! 12:10, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, User:Addshore. User:Jasper Deng: If, by your own admission, WDN#2 is insufficiently clear, then you should not be relying on what appears to be your personal interpretation of it to support a deletion. Further, that section does not stipulate that such sources must be given. I echo User:Ahoerstemeier's concerns about deletions without notifications much less discussion. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:12, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Also I will point out on reviewing the item again before deletion it was contributing the the structure of data with the link owned by => Major Cineplex (item). Sure this doesn't appear in WhatLinksHere but it is still structure! Also please see Wikidata:Requests_for_comment/Speedy_vs_Regular_deletion ·addshore· talk to me! 22:04, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
@Pigsonthewing: That's what the policy says. The burden of proof of existence of said sources lies on those who claim of their existence. Nothing more, nothing less.--Jasper Deng (talk) 23:46, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

What is the correct process to request a review of a deleted page to have it reincluded?

I'm new to Wikidata and trying to find my feet. My first entry to test the waters was https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q18643362 which was deleted without discussion as not being notable. I admit this is my company and assumed that knowing facts about it would make me the ideal person to present those facts. I would like to stress this was not added as self promotion, it was to learn.

After initially reviewing the notability guides (2; publicly available references), I tried but could not locate a suitable property for a company registration number, which links to the open data government registration data, to be input. The interactive tutorials don't work and I did not want at that point to impose on others for assistance. Now I have more time I would like to see my first entry reinstated (but I understand it might not be), and to that effect I have looked for help on the process to follow to get a deleted entry reinstated. I have been unable to locate a project page that deals with this. Is there a policy or process I and others can follow? Mutualadvantage (talk) 23:41, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Without comment on this particular situation, highly relevant is Wikidata:Requests for comment/Conflict of Interest. It should be noted however that it is a long-standing precedent that it's not usually permissible for one to edit on behalf of a company (you may want to request a username change here). @분당선M: Please comment.--Jasper Deng (talk) 23:44, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
I have read COI and also updated the talk page with additional information to help with the reinclusion of the page. Is the process for a re-inclusion request of a deleted page to post here and then update the talk page in question or is there a specified process some where else? Mutualadvantage (talk) 01:31, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Using translated images after uploading them to Commons

(I posted this question in the translators' noticeboard but afterwards I thought it fits better here) I have translated this image into Catalan and uploaded my translation to Commons. But now I don't know how to replace the English version by mine, since the translated help page does not allow me to modify the code. How could I do this? Do I need some special permissions? "Recycling" items

If you take a closer look at the edits of 76.20.25.243 (talkcontribslogs), they appear to be "recycling" old items, for example changing redirects in order to create a new item and adding new links, as opposed to leaving these older items and creating brand new ones. What is our stance on this? At least this seems to be peculiar behaviour... Jared Preston (talk) 10:44, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Are there a specific edits you have in mind?
Edits on Q7288328 seem odd. It was a disambiguation item for "Herassymiwka" and became "Category:People by city in Argentina by province". As item ids are meant to remain stable, no, this shouldn't be done. Q7288328 can be redirect to Q5550352, but can't be used for something completely different. --- Jura 12:42, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
