Motivation

Ukraine within the 1991 borders is the largest country in terms of area located entirely in Europe. Its territories were part of Russia, Poland, Austria-Hungary and other states, which in turn had a strong impact on the development of Ukrainian architecture. This has resulted in a diverse and rich cultural heritage of the country - from medieval castles in the west of the country to Stalinist architecture in the central and southeastern parts of the country. • Note that this identifier is not a governmental ID. It is generated by Wikimedian on-wiki and may change without notice. The associated link is fed from Ukrainian Wikipedia and is updated irregularly. Unfortunately Ukraine has no single governmental ID and even existing governmental IDs contain duplicates, which is why Wiki Loves Monuments Ukraine is using a user-generated ID instead. I think this property will be more difficult to maintain than its use: it is user-generated so it should not be used on Wikipedia in articles, but it might be useful for Commons — NickK (talk) 11:49, 4 June 2023 (UTC)

  I guess calling this a Wiki Loves Monuments Ukraine ID or something would be a be a better idea in that case we would retain ownership of it and be able to change it if necessary. I wonder what would be the best way to also support WLE Ukraine IDs though, as potentially we might want to have a single ID system, at least initially the IDs were planned to be like that I believe and thus use the same format. --Base (talk) 11:52, 4 June 2023 (UTC)

  А зачем вам отдельный? Почему не обойтись общим? В случае с российским и белорусским там официальные государственные номера, насколько я понимаю, здесь же идентификатор придуманный мною или NickK (или может кем-то еще из участников). Поэтому этот ID можно записать в общий. А если и делать отдельный, то для государственного номера из реестра культурного наследия.--Ahonc (talk) 10:23, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

  Agree with Ahonc. It might make sense to add an identifier in the official government register (e.g. for Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet (Q1246092) it will be 1264, and for Kyiv Pechersk Lavra (Q242711) it will be both 260088 and 893-Кв), but there will be no link because the Ukrainian monument register is not yet fully digitised. We might use e-pamiatka instead, but so far it's in beta with terrible identifiers, e.g. for Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet (Q1246092) it's https://arches.e-pamiatka.gov.ua/report/3826f394-78e6-4483-b2f8-3ae770a2bade .
