Electromagnetic connections
[edit]Are there any reasons this property could not also be used to describe electromagnetic connections between items? For example, a mobile phone being "electromagnetically connected to" a telecommunications tower, one computer network being "electromagnetically connected to" another computer network, a factory or mine being "electromagnetically connected to" a specific electricity grid or power station? Pixeldomain (talk) 23:41, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
- There are 3 state of connection, transmission medium (Q334265): 1) ⇄ (conductor (Q26717101), bidirectional traffic (Q10883023) by bi-directional vehicle (Q233063)) 2) → (semiconductor (Q11456), one-way traffic (Q786886) by uni-directional vehicle (Q355477)), and 3) 0 (dielectric (Q184996)). 1) for example, human (Q5) ⇄ human (Q5), mobile phone (Q17517) ⇄ telecommunications tower, computer (Q68) ⇄ network switch (Q4503), (by gravity (Q11412)) apple (Q89) ⇄ Isaac Newton (Q935) 2) for example (by photon (Q3198)) Sun (Q525) → plant (Q756), (by sound (Q11461)) vocal folds (Q215558) → ear (Q7362), radio and TV emitting station (Q21593165) → radio receiver (Q159391), television tower (Q11166728) → television set (Q8075), and so on. --Fractaler (talk) 08:43, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- I apologise, @fractaler:, but this has made it less clear to me. Could you use formatting or prose or both to clarify your explanation? Arlo Barnes (talk) 23:47, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
Towns along a road
[edit]connects with (P2789) is used on many items about roads to indicate which towns are located along it, e.g. European route E55 (Q313410). This was not the intended purpose of this property but do we have a better one? --Pasleim (talk) 11:08, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
- I don't know if we have a replacing property, but for destinations not at a terminus of the way, perhaps property:P2825? Arlo Barnes (talk) 23:44, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
Glueing
[edit]May I use it as synonym for glueing material x with material y together? --Scoid d (talk) 16:55, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
- Do you have an example? The 'see also' section also mentions "physically interacts with" and I wonder if you could specify that the interaction comprises adhesion. Arlo Barnes (talk) 23:46, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
Appropriate constraints
[edit]Right now (oldid 841586592) the only constraint is subject-object symmetry, but I wonder if a more nuanced structure could be conceived such that either this property or property:p2935 could fulfill the symmetry? Where one of the members is a connector, it makes more sense for the other member to use the 'connector' property, but that connector indubitably 'connects with' whatever it is (routinely?) attached to.
