Actual Participants[edit]

  1. Tiago Lubiana
  2. Susanna - doing COVID-19 data models, the models are the key interest now, in the COVID-19 project
  3. Lena - in Harvard maps library contributing to Wikidata
  4. Andra Waagmater - in Antwerp working on genewiki project, modeled genes and proteins on 7 coronaviruses in Wikidata
  5. Houcemeddine Turki - added information about Tunesia and COVID-19
  6. Samuel klein - collaborating with project to
  7. Bodhisattwa Mandal - from India! I have been a wiki volunteer for 8 years, mostly in WikiSource, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata
  8. Lane - doing data modeling for scientists, universities, hospitals, clinical research, papers

notes[edit]

  1. Wikidata WikiProject India hosting scientists editathon
    1. https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_India/Events/Indian_scientists_datathon
    2. Bodhi: this will include scientists who develop COVID-19 info
    3. Bodhi: we are modeling epidemiological regional units
    4. Bodhi: I work at "Centre for Internet and Society Access to Knowledge" campaign CIS-A2K
    5. Bodhi: We are collaborating with National Digital Library of India, who are currently building the research repository for COVID-19. They would like to have a call with our volunteers sometime this week to interact with them.
    6. Bodhi: Let me know if you want to join the calll https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata_talk:WikiProject_COVID-19#Call_with_National_Digital_Library_of_India
    7. Houcemeddine: I was honoured to support Bodhi on building a COVID-19 dashboard for India.
      1. https://wikiproject-india.github.io/covid19dashboard/
  2. related - hospitals!
    1. https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_COVID-19/Data_models#Hospitals
    2. Andra - we recently made a hospital profiling system https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/EntitySchema:E210
    3. Andra - we are exploring a universal model for hospitals but many hospitals will have special interests
    4. If you visit E211 there is a Japanese model which has its own needs
    5. Andra: we want to make this available beyond the English speaking world
    6. Andra: consider our collection of hospitals - https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/EntitySchema:E187
    7. when we validate all these, we get a report of "green tick" for pass or "red x" for fail
    8. pass for a given item means that all of the listed properties have values
    9. fail means that some property is missing or incomplete or is in an unexpected form
    10. the report also says specifically what is in error, however, this report is challenging to read for people unfamiliar to wikidata
    11. Andra: I want to make this easier to read but I have a lot of other things to do first
    12. Tiago - these reports can tell us how "conforming" our collection of data is
    13. Houcemeddine: It will be interesting to link EntitySchemas to classes and properties. Unfortunately, this is currently blocked for months.
  3. crisis response models
    1. region
    2. curfew times and places
    3. hospitals models again
  4. Data models versus entity schemas
    1. Tiago - entity schemas good for searching, data models good for humans to read
    2. Susanna - we need groups of people to sort this
    3. Tiago - I think we should have a data model page for all big topics, and on that page, there should be links to entity schemas
    4. Susanna - we should clean up a page to discuss - it would be nice to have a date or a goal
  5. Tabular data (?)
    1. SJ: Minh has been trying to visualize tabular data (?)
    2. SJ: we want to render Wikidata directly from tabular files (?)
    3. SJ: so far this has only been done in narrow cases, like for cities
    4. SJ: the next goal is to get buy in from people modeling countries (?)
    5. Tiago - do you have cases of this being used on Wikidata?
    6. SJ: Minh first used it for Santa Clara: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Data:COVID-19_Cases_in_Santa_Clara_County,_California.tab
    7. https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q92341065
    8. Feature request: we need a "what links here" for TAB files so we can see all uses of a file in templates. For isntance, the above Santa Clara data is used here:
    9. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:COVID-19_pandemic_data/United_States/California/Santa_Clara_County_medical_cases_chart
    10. Modules in use for rendering tabular data into tables!
    11. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Module:Tabular_data
    12. Related ticket: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T248897
    13. Andra: Tabular data is now on commons. It is defunct on Wikidata. are these new discussions unrelated to the way tabular data is stored on commons?
    14. SJ: What was approved two weeks ago? <-- Tiago: there was a proposal for tabular case data to be used on Wikidata
    15. Andra: ideally if we are referencing a dataset then we have the dataset itself
    16. Houcemeddine: I propose to build a tool that use Tabular data on Wikimedia Commons to enrich Wikidata
    17. Houcemeddine: A kind of upgrade to QuickStatements <-- great! SJ
  6. TABernacle files
    1. Lane asks if there is a template like{{SPARQL}} but for showcasing queries for TABernacle
    2. Perhaps listeria?
  7. Lexemes and Wikidata
    1. How can we find COVID-related lexemes in papers?
    2. Lane - this is from Daniel - https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_COVID-19/Queries#Articles_with_a_COVID-19_topic_in_the_title_but_not_as_main_subject
  8. when should we have next meeting?
    1. 2 weeks? yes!
    2. thanks

Houcemeddine Turki 11:59 AM I ask if you can adapt your tool so that it can be used to add data inferred using Wikidata SPARQL Query Service. For example, I use Wikidata Query Service to infer case fatality rates from the data available in Wikidata. The query for that is https://w.wiki/PE2. Then, I put the results in this format: <item> TAB P3457 TAB <mortality> TAB P585 TAB <date> TAB S887 TAB Q976981 where the date format should be like +2020-03-17T00:00:00Z/11. After that, I add this inferred information to Wikidata. I Lena Denis 11:59 AM Museu Nacional (Rio de Janeiro) "room" Houcemeddine Turki 11:59 AM See About QuickStatements
