Confession
[edit]Hi, your changes to "confession" appear to be incorrect. en:q:Confession is generic, not just related to religion. Would you please revert your edits? :-) --Superchilum(talk to me!) 09:56, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry it seemed to me to be about religion, I reverted the changes. Germartin1 (talk) 10:15, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks ;-) --Superchilum(talk to me!) 08:08, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
I have removed your countrification of the English language. What does that even mean? — billinghurst sDrewth 00:08, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
- @billinghurst: Well you're right that languages are intangible object so they shouldn't have a country property, however many languages have country properties and they seem to indicate their association and/or origin. So that's why added it. Germartin1 (talk) 09:41, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

Stephen Wayne Anderson
[edit]Hi, I see that you speak English proficiently and have introduced a new piece of information into the item for Stephen Wayne Anderson, stating that he was a Catholic. Since apparently the respective article was miswritten the first time on the English Wikipedia, could you please introduce this new information into the English Wikipedia? Do you have some reliable source for the information? - 2600:1702:31B0:9CE0:199D:E941:12DC:7F33 02:47, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
New page for catalogues
[edit]Hi, I created a new page for collecting sites that could be added to Mix'n'match and I plan to expand it with the ones that already have scrapers by category. Feel free to expand, use for property creation. Best, --Adam Harangozó (talk) 12:01, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
Pandas
[edit]Hi,
the reason why I added animal is because of the constraint violation on sex or gender (P21) (I am foolishly trying to get Wikidata:Database_reports/Constraint_violations/P21 down to a manageable state). It seems that Giant panda (Q33602) is not a subclass of animal (Q729), and that is causing a constraint violation. As you seems to disagree with my edit, what would be the right way ? Looking at Gu Gu (Q5613122), I see that captive mammal (Q57812611) was used, would that be ok ? --Misc (talk) 19:43, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
- Yes it's good to reduce constraint violations, I added the subclass of giant panda, to deal with the constraint. I don't know why many animals don't have this subclass. captive mammal (Q57812611) is fine to add because it adds different useful information, just P31 animal seems redundant. Interview Invitation
[edit]Hi Germartin1,
I noticed your editing stats in Wikidata, which led me to look up your profile. Thank you for all the great work!
I’m reaching out to you because I’m working on a research project about understanding what motivates editors like you to contribute to Wikidata. We’re also interested in learning about how you feel your contributions are being used outside of Wikidata. Since you are such an active community member, I thought you might also be interested in helping to build the broader community’s knowledge about Wikidata, and why it matters.
If you’re interested, let’s schedule a time to talk over Zoom, or whichever platform you prefer. If you are interested, please fill in a questionnaire or reply directly. The conversation should take about 30 min.
Hope you have a great day,
Chuankaz (talk) 15:38, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
- Sure, I'm happy to have a talk, I filled out the questionaire Germartin1 (talk) 15:51, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Germartin1, I came accross a couple of items from your hand, of which I think they are not notable. Like Joshua Ciputra (Q105300037), Galih Galinggis (Q104200271), Kafka Keandre (Q104200303), Jero Asri Kerthyasa (Q104234472). Can you please explain what your intention was for these items? Lymantria (talk) 08:41, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
- They are part of business/royal families, that's why I added them, to complete their close family members. Germartin1 (talk) 16:09, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
- Okay. I'd expect sources for their family bonds, and to be honest, I'm missing a lot of info at Joshua Ciputra (Q105300037). Lymantria (talk) 17:05, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

marking a proposal as "ready" despite open questions and a problematic description
[edit]Hi, at Wikidata:Property_proposal/certified_as, you marked the proposal as ready explaining "changed label based on previous comments, and set to ready (6 vs 1)". However, this doesn't appear to answer the open question about the overlapping scope between this proposed property and P5021. As it seems to be clear to you, can you add an explanation in the discussion?
Also, the change of label aligns the label to the properties description practically leading to proposal lacking a description (bear in mind an excellent description doesn't repeat the label). Can you remedy this? I already noticed this is an issue you didn't resolve in some of your other proposals either despite marking them as "ready". --- Jura 13:54, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I set it back to discussion, as I'm not too familiar with the topic, I'll leave it someone else Germartin1 (talk) 14:20, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
Notability (2)
[edit]Hello Germartin1, I noticed here that you recently created a Q-item were you made the remark "semi-automatic Geni import". That looks rather suspicious to me since Geni like many other genealogical websites are, as far as I know, not so reliable sources. There is in that Q-item no link to any page on another Wikimedia project like some article on Wikipedia. Basic information like when this person was living, job or other activities, were all missing. The description field of the Q-item is empty so it looks you were not able to explain what makes that specific person important enough to be added to Wikidata. Links on that Q-item to related persons had the same problem: semi-automatic Geni import, no basic information like when they were living and so on, no link to a page on another Wikimedia project, no description. Can you give me a good explanation why you think this specific person, with reference to Wikidata:Notability, is important enough? - Robotje (talk) 13:59, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- Still searching for information about mr. Pauw or you forgot about it? - Robotje (talk) 07:53, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late reply. Mr. Pauw is in between Q15878974 and Q503791. That's why I added them, see tree. I might have gone a bit too far. Anyway, I'll try to add more sources soon. Germartin1 (talk) 08:00, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
Data not available?
[edit]Hi! I tried to see some of your edit on Indonesian hospitals and coincidentally found that Harapan Bunda Maternity Hospital (Q110242440) has empty data on the website. Is that the correct value of Indonesian Hospital ID (P10115) for that item? Also, a similar thing also found on Q110242635.
Sorry to ask you on this. Just wanted to confirm if there's a need for correction. :)
Thank you for improving items about Indonesian hospital. Your works are wonderful! ··· 🌸 Rachmat04 · ☕ 03:26, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for noticing, it could be the case that the hospital is closed now, because the data is from 2019. I'll have a look what I can find, I'm also still planning to import address, coordinates, etc... Germartin1 (talk) 07:29, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
Call for participation in a task-based online experiment
[edit]Dear Germartin1,
I hope you are doing good,
I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender system that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.
I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our system based on your previous edits. Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published to a research venue.
The study will start in late January 2022 or early February 2022, and it should take no more than 30 minutes.
If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSees9WzFXR0Vl3mHLkZCaByeFHRrBy51kBca53euq9nt3XWog/viewform?usp=sf_link I will contact you with the link to start the study.
For more information about the study, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.
Thank you for considering taking part in this research.
Regards

Marvel's Wastelanders
[edit]Hi, I saw you added "Marvel's Wastelanders: Black Widow" as an alias for "Marvel's Wastelanders." The Wikidata item is connected to the overarching series of podcasts in the "Marvel's Wastelanders" audio universe, of which "Marvel's Wastelanders: Black Widow" is just one. "Marvel's Wastelanders: Black Widow" is already listed as a one of the Title properties for the entry (along with the other titles in the series. — Tcr25 (talk) 15:10, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- thanks for noticing, well the best way is to seperate the podcasts into individual items. Germartin1 (talk) 15:56, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- With that sort of separation, you'd need to divide up and move over the writing and voice acting credits too. Apple seems to be the only platform that is assigning a separate ID to each series; Spotify, Podchaser, etc., are using a single feed for all the installments (MW: Star Lord; MW: Hawkeye; and now MW: Black Widow) ... it's more like they're arcs or seasons rather than separate podcasts. The original announcements from Marvel said that the fifth series would be a team-up one but later it was announced as MW: Doom, so how it will play out is not yet clear. Q48742103 has a similar problem (not yet addressed) where the item is tied to the season one title of the Wolverine podcast and season two isn't mentioned at all. Tcr25 (talk) 20:01, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- As an example of the problem here, with Q110571918 you have Podchaser stating 27 episodes for MW: Black Widow. There are three episodes released thus far. That 27 count includes 10 episodes of MW: Star Lord, 10 episodes of MW: Hawkeye, 2 episodes of MW: Black Widow, and five trailers ... Tcr25 (talk) 20:04, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
Summarizing in Wikidata Properties
[edit]Good evening! Could you summarize my proposed Wikidata properties: Wikidata:Property proposal/TASS Encyclopedia ID, Wikidata:Property proposal/Chuvash Encyclopedia ID? LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group Talk
[edit]Dear Martin,
I became aware of your work with PodcastBot through the Wikidata Weekly update and Entitree through your user page, and I was wondering if you would like to speak on either project at an LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group Talk.
We have an opening Tuesday, April 19 and talks are at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 16:00 UTC / 6pm CET (https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1650384008). And if that date doesn’t work for you we’d be happy to discuss others.
Talks are scheduled for an hour, usually with a 30-45 minute presentation by the speaker(s), followed by an audience Q&A and done via Zoom. You can see recordings of past speakers by following the links to agendas on our project page at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_LD4_Wikidata_Affinity_Group/Affinity_Group_Calls. And I am happy to answer any questions you have, of course.
Thank you! Emwille (talk) 14:43, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Emwille: Thanks for your message, yes I'd love to join. A bit earlier would be good if possible. on what project would you like me to talk about and concerning which topics? Germartin1 (talk) 16:55, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you! Would an hour earlier be enough? I confess I don't know what time zone you're in. If we go too much earlier I'm worried about it making it hard for people to attend. And I (and I think our audience) would be excited about either topic. Whichever you would prefer to speak on would be great. Emwille (talk) 13:38, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- Germartin1 Apologies, I don't use the talk function much and didn't know if it notified you without the at. Not trying to rush you just didn't want to cause any inadvertent technical problems on my end. Thank you! Emwille (talk) 19:24, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Emwille: Yes one hour earlier would be fine, I'm in GMT+8 (Bali). Sorry for the late reply. Germartin1 (talk) 00:57, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Germartin1 Thank you! I'll contact you closer to the date and we can finalize a topic and I'll get you a link to the agenda, a zoom link, and all the usual stuff! Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime. Emwille (talk) 15:28, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Have you finalized a topic, and how should I refer to you (do you have a professional title or anything else you would like me to use?). Emwille (talk) 13:43, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Germartin1 With the change in time I'd like to get our announcements sent out today, so I'm just going to say you'll be speaking about entitree and I can correct that in a follow-up email or during the session if needed. I hope that's okay, apologies for charging ahead but I want to make sure people know you'll be speaking and about the time change. Thanks again! Emwille (talk) 13:58, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Emwille:Yes Entitree as a topic is good. Feel free to ping me on Whatsapp or telegram to discuss it shortly.
- What should I put in the document? Germartin1 (talk) 14:15, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Germartin1 Thank you! People usually drop in links to any web resources or slides they'd like to make available to the audience in the agenda, but that is totally up to the presenter. I'm sorry I don't have Whatsapp or Telegram installed (and IT doesn't let us install programs on our work computers). I think I'm good on my end but if you have any questions my email is emwille at ilstu dot edu. Emwille (talk) 14:19, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

Hotels in Prague
[edit]Hello, I have noticed your mass import of hotels in Prague into Wikidata from Skyscanner, thank you. However, there are duplicates - I have just randomly encountered four: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q111412219?redirect=no https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q111412213?redirect=no https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q111412339?redirect=no https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q111412234&redirect=no Please do a duplicate check during such database import, if possible. --JiriMatejicek (talk) 14:31, 31 March 2022 (UTC)
- @JiriMatejicek: I've tried my best matching, but I created new ones for those which didn't match the name or the coordinates,
- Regarding "Corinthia Hotel Prague" I think it should be split into building and hotel. Germartin1 (talk) 02:11, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, the names can change even slightly, for example if there is a new owner (such as Hotel Sonata vs. EA Hotel Sonata), although Q111412213 had exactly the same name as Q21490613 (Panorama Hotel Prague). But I understand that in large volumes of data, something can easily slip through the cracks. As for Corinthia Hotel Prague, I guess the hotel (as an organization) is unlikely to exist independently of the building, and the building is unlikely to have another purpose. But if you have a good reason to keep them separate, feel free. Thanks for your hard work. --JiriMatejicek (talk) 13:24, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
- P.S. I don't know how exactly your tool works, but perhaps the coordinate matching check can be done with a bigger tolerance (as hotels can be quite large buildings)? --JiriMatejicek (talk) 13:26, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
- @JiriMatejicek: Thanks for the suggestion, Yes I have quite a big tolerance. If you want to look at the dataset, let me know. Germartin1 (talk) 07:03, 2 April 2022 (UTC)

Data entered from untrusted sources
[edit]Hello germartin1, I see you are using OpenRefine to enter data about hotels around the world. The problem is that you are entering data that is already wrong in the Skyscanner database. For example in The Vintage House Douro Hotel (Q99535503) in the hotel rating hotel rating (P10290) stated that this hotel is 4 stars when in reality it is 5 stars. You can consult this information at Turismo de Portugal, the entity that issues hotel ratings in Portugal. https://registos.turismodeportugal.pt/RNET.aspx?nr=279. Sanjorgepinho (talk) 18:08, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Sanjorgepinho: Yes there are some errors in the data, but regarding this issue of the star, just delete or mark the value deprecated and not undo the whole edit. The coordinates and ex-ids should be correct. Germartin1 (talk) 11:18, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @Germartin1! You're wrong. You are entering the wrong data, using secondary databases instead of using official databases, and thereby introducing errors into wikidata. If you know that a database has an error, do not use OpenRefine and do not enter data from that database. No one needs to go after your edits to fix them. Skyscanner has many errors regarding hotels in Portugal. It classifies accommodations without a hotel license as hotels. If you want to enter hotel data in Portugal, use the Turismo de Portugal database. Sanjorgepinho (talk) 12:01, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Sanjorgepinho: Well Wikidata itself has many errors. Skyscanner gets the data from the Booking, Agoda, Trip.com etc... for which the hotel itself enters the data. Regarding the Vintage House Hotel, you can see that on Trip.com it states 4 stars, but 5 stars on Booking.com. Germartin1 (talk) 12:33, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Germartin1:I already told you where are the official classification data for hotels in Portugal. Please use this official database. If wikidata has errors, correct or revert wrong edits like the ones you made. Never enter data with errors just because there is incorrect data in wikidata. Please stop inputting erroneous data into wikidata. Sanjorgepinho (talk) 13:21, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
Germartin1 (talk) 11:15, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

Formatter for British History Online VCH ID
[edit]Please talk to people before you make a reversion like this: diff.
The formatter for British History Online VCH ID (P3628) needs to be routed through the Toolforge script, because the IDs can contain '#' characters -- eg warks/vol7/pp361-379#p5
for St Bartholomew's Church, Edgbaston (Q7592600).
The default formatter breaks these, because it thinks the '#' needs to be escaped, and so turns it into '%23'.
But doing that actually breaks the link, because https://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/warks/vol7/pp361-379%23p5 doesn't work.
To get the correct link, https://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/warks/vol7/pp361-379#p5, the ID needs to be sent through the Toolforge script. Jheald (talk) 08:38, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Jheald: Oh I'm so sorry. I thought it was doing to the same thing and just a needless reroute. Germartin1 (talk) 08:42, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- No problem, with luck it should sort itself out before a hackathon trying to add a lot of these tomorrow and the day after. Jheald (talk) 08:47, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
Help
[edit]Hello, Germartin1, May I ask you to delete Q108892396. The reason is because the article doesn't exist in Indonesian Wikipedia. Thank you. Cun Cun (talk) 03:43, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- No, this person was a candidate in the 2014 Indonesian People's Representative Council election. Please don't delete statements, also if you want to suggest to delete items, do it in the correct channel. Germartin1 (talk) 06:45, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, I see. Thank you for the correction. Cun Cun (talk) 07:02, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- Also, can you please check my edit in Q7451117. The title "Yayasan Pemeliharaan Anak-Anak Cacat" in Indonesian Wikipedia is different from "Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation" (English Wikipedia), so I deleted the Wikipedia link. Thank you! Cun Cun (talk) 07:08, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- Yes sure, I moved the Yayasan to a new item, since all the statements were regarding the US organization. Thank you!

international forum participant as occupation
[edit]Hi, I don't think that Q115088092 is an occupation. What about subject has role (P2868)? Jklamo (talk) 10:09, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Jklamo: yes it's not a very good name. Possibly it could be the same as a/or very similar to a socialite (Q512314). However, it makes it really useful for me to match people to international events. Subject has role is just used as a qualifier. Germartin1 (talk) 10:17, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
- See Property_talk:P2868, 47.8 % usage is as main statement. Note that occupation (P106) is used by many infoboxes, therefore it is not appropriate to fill it with such data. Jklamo (talk) 11:28, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
- Ah ok, I'm open to use this property then. Germartin1 (talk) 11:31, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
- I noticed the usage of Q115088092 in occupation (P106). Looks like a incorrect made up occupation to me. Should probably be deleted. Multichill (talk) 18:16, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
- I agree it could be renamed, or moved to another property. It's just really useful to have an property so I can easily match other attendees. Germartin1 (talk) 03:48, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- No, I'm talking about renaming, I'm talking about deleting it. I removed it from Marietje Schaake (Q433561), but it looks like you added it again so User:Dajasj removed it. Please stop adding this made up occupation right away and remove existing usage. Multichill (talk) 14:37, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- I agree with Multichill. I do like the other additions, but I dont see these people have this as occupation (P106) Dajasj (talk) 14:46, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Please give me some time, to think about a better solution. Germartin1 (talk) 14:47, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Sure, but could you stop adding new occupation (P106)'s in the meantime? Dajasj (talk) 16:42, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Probably also on behalf of Multichill and Dajasj, I ask you again to refrain from adding the statement occupation (P106)Q115088092. It doesn't make sense to keep adding these statements just because you haven't found a better solution yet. If you continue to add these statements, then at least I have no choice but to leave a complaint on the admin notice board. --Gymnicus (talk) 12:03, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
- I see you're doing it again... Dajasj (talk) 07:01, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Dajasj: Sorry for that, so can "subject has role" be the replacement? If so, I'd appreciate if you could help out with moving the statements. Germartin1 (talk) 07:06, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the reply! I think I could help. But what would be the benefit of adding that role if the fact that the person is participating already indicates this? You could then query for everyone who participated in international forums. Dajasj (talk) 07:10, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes my only worry is that it's harder to query a nested relation with OpenRefine. So it would be nice to have some easy relation indicating this. Germartin1 (talk) 07:17, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

- Would it also be possible to change these uploads to have affiliation string (P6424) be a qualifier on the participant in (P1344) statement? It looks a bit strange on its own - eg Tony Blair (Q9545) now has three independent affiliation statements without any way of indicating what the context of them is. La Folie douce
[edit]Hello. I saw that you created the element "La Folie douce Chamonix" (Q111117146) as an hotel. If the subject interests you, would it be possible for you to create the element "La Folie douce" as a company (French, created in 1974 in Val-d'Isère) or modify the existing element : I'm not sure that the very recent "La Folie douce Chamonix" place has encyclopedic potential. The place (the Savoy hotel in Chamonix) has a real history, old, but not under the name of "La Folie douce". I do not master "Wikidata" and do not know how to create a new element. I only know how to, sometimes, add some simple decalrations to complete the existing elements. I will create the article "La Folie douce" (company) on the French Wikipedia. I'm not a new contributor on WP, but Wikidata is a bit foreign to me. Merci -in french, my english is so poor without Google Translate :-) --Arroser (talk) 21:49, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Arroser: Yes you can easily create an item on the left menu for the company. It's best to keep company, hotel, building seperated on Wikidata. Let me know if you need help. Germartin1 (talk) 00:12, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

- Sorry to be unnecessarily 'pointy' about this, (commons has vast arrays of wrong place names with either incorrect qualification of state or even country sometimes - and I should probably venture into there to work on some of the material, but in parts it is too overwhelming to deal with) - part of the reason of worrying about the lack of a state name qualifier is that the tie-in between the description in wikidata and short descriptions really shows up quite a range of outright funny, to the bizarre descriptions that have slipped into wikidata that then get transposed into short descriptions. Thank you for doing the hotels of perth, the adding to wikidata has been good - most have now been given qualifiers - again apologies about being a nitpicker, but I have been to Perth, Tasmania and live in Perth, Western Australia - and used to dream of going to every Springfield in the states, but I dont think I will ever get around to it...
