Dear User:Geagea, our paths crossed over a year ago when I started updating (sorting, categorizing, translating descriptions HE>EN for files named in Hebrew) in the Wikimedia Commons. Recently I began evaluating my options of Wiki Projects in which to make a serious impact considering my fund of knowledges and numerous languages, and Wikidata is presently the front-runner. You can see my recently updated User page for a quick rundown. Then there's you, and "us" - because to show my stuff, I sneaked a peak (=admission of lurking) at your recent contributions and decided to improve one a bit. The rest, you know. I spent over an hour writing that explanation (partly content I deleted in favor of better examples), and here I was just going to ask if you would kindly mentor me through my early efforts, as I'm rather bewildered by the suggestions proposed. My high motivation for matters WP tends to overpower my other obligations (e.g. freelance work with deadlines), attested to in my User contributions page (and irrefutably damning me, "thanks" to the date/time stamp), so if you're empathetic to the conflicts of WP word vs. Real Life, I promise not to be a . אולי עדיף בעברית. האנגלית שלך טובה משלי. אז קודם, תודה על ההסבר המפורט. לא מפקפק בהבנה שלך של הנושא, פשוט רציתי להבין כדי לשפר . גם כאן וגם בוויקישיתוף. בכל מקרה את הנושא של הפרופסור נעזוב בשלב זה. אני אשמח לעזור בכל מה שאוכל. במייל או ב-IRC.
בתחילת דרכי כתבי בעיקר ערכים בוויקיפדיה בנושאי גאורגיה. עד שבשלב מסוים התעייפתי ונפתח המיזם של וויקישיתוף. אני שם מההתחלה. הפעילות בוויקישיתוף לא מצריכה ריכוז רב. אז היה לי פשוט יותר לתרום שם. בשלב מסוים (לפני 3 או 4 שנים בערך) מישהו המליץ עליי לתפקיד אדמין, ומאז אני בעיקר בקומונס. שיפרתי שם משמעותית את הבנת נושא זכויות היוצרים וגם את האנגלית. ויקינתונים משמש בשבילי (לפחות בינתיים) דרך לשפר את התוצאה בקומונס ובוויקיפדיה ובקישור ביניהם. אני מספר לך את כל זה משום שאין דרך מסויימת וספציפית שאת יכולה לעזור. כישורי השפה שלך יכולים לעזור המון בוויקינתונים. תמשיכי עם מה שאת עושה. אני לא אפריע. מבטיח. תשלחי לי מייל דרך המערכת ואענה לך (כנראה רק מחר בבוקר).

Information Center for Israeli Art artist Mix'n'Match[edit]

Care to help with with https://tools.wmflabs.org/mix-n-match/#/list/1155/auto ? I'm working with the Israel Museum to get the missing artists imported, but first the existing ones need to be matched up so I don't end up creating many duplicates. I assumed you used mix'n'match before. First go to https://tools.wmflabs.org/widar/index.php?action=authorize to authorize the tool to do edits. Edits will look like this.
On https://tools.wmflabs.org/mix-n-match/#/list/1155/auto
  • Look at an item to see if it's the same. You might need to click the website link or Wikidata item to have a look at the Wikipedia article
  • If you're sure both are about the same person, click "confirm"
  • If both are not about the same person, click "remove"
  • If you're unsure, just skip it
Usually the first page collects the difficult cases because people skip items, I recommend you start on a later page to have some easy cases to start with. I hope this explains it enough. Thanks for the help! Multichill ( talk ) 21:44, 29 June 2018 (UTC)

The only place you can find that online is in mix'n'match, see https://tools.wmflabs.org/mix-n-match/#/search/Nino%20Herman , but I would work on the auto matches first. Multichill (talk) 22:10, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
Looks like you decided to follow a different workflow and now you matched en:David Blumenthal (academic physician and health care policy expert) with http://www.imj.org.il/artcenter/newsite/en/?artist=644307 (Israeli artist) at David Blumenthal (Q16120254). I would just skip it. Not all people are notable in that collection (or at least notability is clear from their data). I will create missing artists after the auto matches are done. I will only create artists if the artist is linked from en:List of public art in Israel or if the artist page has a link to a selection of artworks (example).
After that I'll import the public art and it's nice to be able to link that to the right artist on import. Thanks for your help! Much appreciated. Multichill (talk) 09:43, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

Wikidata workshop for Wikipedians[edit]

Hi,

As part of the activities of Wikimedia Israel to increase awareness, use and integration of Wikidata in Wikipedia, you are invited to a meeting that will include a lecture and editing activities. Please do not add P17 qualifier to categories, that contains people[edit]

E.g. Category:Ministers without Portfolio of Israel (Q7844072) The idea of qualifiers for category contains (P4224)human (Q5) is that the corresponding values can be added to all items, that belongs to this category. If you want to express the fact, that this category is related to Israel, please add category combines topics (P971)Israel (Q801)

Ghuron, I tried to follow the logic of qualifiers of category contains (P4224). This category is about human (Q5), with position held (P39) of minister without portfolio (Q1937160) in the Israeli government. I think it's more precise, but will not argue about that. Think of P4224 as a "template" for items, that belongs to this category. If you specify position held (P39)minister without portfolio (Q1937160) qualifier, and there is an item that belongs to this category and has no position held (P39) statements, we can add the corresponding statement. J9U from NLI and imprecise IDs[edit]

Hi! First of all, thanks you for the big work you are doing with OpenRefine, importing National Library of Israel J9U ID (P8189) from National Library of Israel ID (old) (P949)! However, there is a task for which I would need your help: P949 was sometimes used imprecisely, associating to the human item not only the author ID, but also IDs regarding their works or topics related to them; as a consequence, some IDs need to be removed. The problem regards at least 3 thousands items, these ones, for which imprecise P8189 and P949 need removal. I will try to do some in the next days. Epì, Thanks for your efforts to help. I am working with the National Library of Israel. They have send to me Excel file based on a query I have generated. I have seen that item have in some cases few statements National Library of Israel ID (old) (P949) and also National Library of Israel J9U ID (P8189). I believe that they have to be unified. If there are cases that added mistakenly they have to be removed of course. For example see Jacob Weinberg (Q19668022). All seems to be same person. They have to be unified to one id. Anyway that need to check by the National Library of Israel manually. I will check also your point regarding human that have also IDs regarding their works or topics related to them. I would suggest to start your checks from https://w.wiki/4MWg, the items having two J9Us but not NLIs; these may be, at least in some cases, duplicates in J9U, or cases where the addition of the qualifier subject named as (P1810) is necessary. Good night, --Epìdosis 23:22, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. I think that the correct way is to add first the new J9U id and then to see if there is a technical way to identify the works from the author items. It can be done by the National Library of Israel using the LCCN id they added. If we have works with J9U id and LCCN id and VIAF id thaem may be it be correct to create the items. Epì, the OpenRefine ended still have some 483 items to be check and they will solve shortly. Still the issue you have raised should be solved. Now we are working only with P8189. I used this query to find item that have National Library of Israel ID (old) (P949) but not National Library of Israel J9U ID (P8189). And now I want to made a query of items that have statement that have VIAF ID (P214) but not National Library of Israel J9U ID (P8189). can you help with that? So, I have tried with many different types of queries and they all timeout; effectively, considering that VIAF ID (P214) is used in more than 2.7M items, it is understandable. A possible answer is Special:Search/haswbstatement:P214 -haswbstatement:P8189 (which can be filtered only for humans), but we have the problem that Special:Search is not meant for downloading data. Another possibility, probably the best, is using WDumper to download a dump about items containing VIAF ID, analyse which ones have J9U and which not, then try to enrich those which haven't it. Of course analysing a dump from WDumper requires some technical skills, which I haven't; but, if needed, @Bargioni: can probably help; if you want, we can have some sort of online meeting. --Epìdosis 09:50, 10 November 2021 (UTC)

English: Hi! Quick notice to inform you that I have removed the ID that you added on Hymn to Hermes I (Q20552131), but perhaps it might call for a revert of my actions. For a lot of Homeric hymns we actually have more than one composition to a given god and, appart from GND, most libraries don't seem to make a distinction. I'm therefore reluctant to add the big VIAF cluster to one or the other as there is a risk it mixes things up.
