Dataset vs entity[edit]

Note that this links the dataset, not the entity. The entity is usually named as http://kulturnav.org/UUID#entity.alternativeId-0 if we assume they follow the usual scheme from Cool URIs for the Semantic Web 4.1. Hash URIs, although there can be other alternative ids. The server does not give a 303, KulturNav say they only use this for placeholders, so they must use hash URIs for identifying the individual entities. This leads to some slight inconsistencies as the dataset for example has a statement that claim the dataset at KulturNav is the same as (owl:sameAs) the entity identified by Frebase (latre use a 303 to address the entity). The about description (identified by a #about) also gives the URI without a hash as primary topic (foaf:primaryTopic), thereby stating that it uses the dataset as the primary topic instead of the entity. There are also some missing definitions, perhaps it would be clearer if those are completed. Jeblad (talk) 09:13, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Authority[edit]

This is an identifier used in a system by some Nordic museums (in Norway and Sweden). It is not an official authority number. Usually that distinction should not be of much importance though. Jeblad (talk) 09:32, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Qualifier[edit]

I would suggest using the catalog (P972) qualifier together with the dataset. It is not a perfect match (since katalog isn't identical to dataset) but for our intents it should be close enough. This would make it easier to identify which datasets are being mapped (and what is missing). It would also clarify things in the rare cases when the same entity exists in two separate datasets in KulturNav.

E.g. for Alvar Aalto (Q82840): KulturNav-ID (P1248) => be702fce-030c-40a1-b0ec-3407d8450548, qualifier: catalog (P972) => Arkitekter verksamma i Sverige (Q17373699).

/André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 14:38, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That would mean adding {{Constraint:Qualifiers|list={{P|P972}}}} to this page. Don't think it's possible to specify that that target should have P361:Q16323066. /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 08:33, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Added the constraint above and will restart the bot to start adding this to the entities updated as part of Architect run. /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 13:11, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You do not mean part of (P361); why is the qualifier necessary. If Nationalmuseum Sweden ID (P2538) is used, that must be linked and be sufficient. Otherwise it is too complicated to edit here--Oursana (talk) 22:04, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@André Costa (WMSE): I can not see how this qualifier can be used for Gunnar Havstad (Q16658337). Having Munzinger person ID (P1284) KulturNav-ID (P1248) c284ddec-9682-4471-aa5f-a8dcfd2b828e, I am not able to find any cataloge covering Gunnar Havstad (Q16658337) as a norwegian sculptor. Breg Pmt (talk) 17:05, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Pmt: Not sure I understand. Do you mean that you cannot find which catalogue the id is part of on Kulturnav or that you cannot find that catalogue on Wikidata? (The answer to the first is [1], the answer to the second is that the catalogue does not have a Wikidata entry yet.
@Oursana: part of (P361) could be a better fit. The qualifier is necessary mainly for the few cases where the same item corresponds to multiple entries in Kulturnav. This is ok if they correspond to entries in different datasets within Kulturnav, otherwise it is an indication that something is wrong (either here or in Kulturnav). /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 14:40, 19 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@André Costa (WMSE): first of all I wrote {{P|P1284}} instead of {{P|P1248}} My apologises for that. So still can not see any at catalogatcode at http://kulturnav.org/ and can see that you states that it do not have a wikidata entry yey. Do you know how and when that will be available. Does this it mean that the artist like Gunnar Havstad (Q16658337) will in adition to id have a cataloge code. What then will be the the difference between the KulturNav-ID (P1248) and the code. Breg Pmt (talk) 20:05, 19 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Pmt: In the entry for Gunnar Havstad there is a line called dataset which takes you to the dataset entry. I searched on the Norwegian name and found that the catalog is Norsk kunstnerleksikon (Q11992482). So I would use something like the below:
KulturNav-ID
Preferred rank c284ddec-9682-4471-aa5f-a8dcfd2b828e
catalog Norsk kunstnerleksikon

@André Costa (WMSE): Thank you. I can see what you ment now. Pmt (talk) 11:45, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have created Textile technical terminology (Textilmuseet) (Q54810390) for the KulturNav dataset I have been working with so I can comply with this new constrait. Is this correct? - PKM (talk) 00:14, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That looks right =) /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 10:38, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@André Costa (WMSE): Should the catalogue qualifier really be mandatory? Seems more like nice-to-have additional info. The uuid by itself is enough to identify the Kulturnav object. Ambrosiani (talk) 09:59, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ambrosiani:The main value comes to the cases where there are multiple uuid's but it also helps loads with being able to answer which part of Kulturnav Wikidata is being connected to. You are correct in that one could get that info out of following the link though. Any particular problems you've seen with keeping it? /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 10:12, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@André Costa (WMSE): mainly that people adding kulturnav ID's manually will get an error. Is there a flag for "suggested qualifier to add" or similar? Ambrosiani (talk) 11:19, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly there is no "suggested qualifier" level. There is only mandatory or not. /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 15:37, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ambrosiani:Happily I was wrong. constraint status (P2316) exists. I've now set it to suggestion constraint (Q62026391). /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 09:55, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Problem understanding the correct argument[edit]

I am trying to add P1248 to Rosalie Sjöman Q18245828 but dont understand what argument to use. Her page at Kulturnav.org - Salgo60 (talk) 10:47, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think you already added it correctly: Q18245828#P1248. It should have 36 characters.
--- Jura 13:34, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes but the link is not working so its a problem. Either in Kulturnav, the template or the property value - Salgo60 (talk) 05:46, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If "?viewTab=linkedData&linkedDataSource=dimu" is needed, you could add that to Property:P1248#P1630.
--- Jura 06:53, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Its my browser that is the problem. If I click the link as "Incognito" then it works. I have sent the error code to support@kulturit.no - Salgo60 (talk) 22:16, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Update I have spoken with KulturNav IT support Ulf Bodin and they had a "bug" if you had updated an entry at Kulturnav that should be now fixed - Salgo60 (talk) 09:48, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
