Handedness
[edit]The "handedness" property works well a lot of the time, but afaik, there are cases that it doesn't cover until now:
- some players are right-handed, e.g., but play with their left hand
- the double-handed forehand/backhand
During the discussion about the creation, it has been proposed to use a qualifier, probably something like "handedness = left-handed, activity = tennis" or "handedness = double-handed, activity = forehand". I wonder if there is a suitable property already, or are there other ideas to solve this?--Kompakt (talk) 13:20, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- We have shooting handedness (P423), maybe we should make a new property calling "playing handedness" or something like that. --Stryn (talk) 14:10, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- I see, a seperate new property, this way we'd cover the first case directly. For the second point, we'd create new items for single-/double-handed forehand and backhand. So, as an example, if a player is right-handed, but plays with his left hand, with single-handed forehand and double-handed backhand, we'd set "handedness = right-handed", and then add three values to the new property "playing handedness": "left-handed", "single-handed forehand" and "double-handed backhand". Did I get this right?--Kompakt (talk) 15:34, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, sounds good in my opinion. --Stryn (talk) 16:32, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- Alright, I've made the proposal.--Kompakt (talk) 12:55, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

two new properties
[edit]P1118 and P1119 do exist for a few weeks now... they can be added to the table, and hold the current place on the world ranking, a value that can be looked up on the ATP/WTA website (on the player stats page). But as this is a highly dymanic value not many wiki's do actually show this current ranking. Edoderoo (talk) 12:59, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
How to deal with items like 1970 US Open – women's doubles (Q2471729)? In the table it is written to use part of (P361)=1970 US Open (Q573270). But should we also add a instance of (P31) value? --Pasleim (talk) 09:31, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

Prize money
[edit]For information prize money (P2121) exist since yesterday. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 04:50, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Harmonia Amanda: thanks for that! Jared Preston (talk) 11:15, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- I needed it for the Wikidata:WikiProject Sled dog racing, to be honest. I saw that the original proposal had been done by this project that's why I came here. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 11:55, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
Player activity properties
[edit]I wonder should we use "occupation (P106) -> tennis player (Q10833314): [qualifier] start time (P580): 2000" or properties work period (start) (P2031) and work period (end) (P2032) to show the years when player was active? --Stryn (talk) 15:02, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- I would use the qualifier start time (P580)--Mad melone (talk) 12:34, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- And I would agree. Jared Preston (talk) 20:08, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
Match results
[edit]Hi,
Is there a Property for match result that I have not found so far? Should be usable in a qualifer. Thanks, --Mad melone (talk) 15:29, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
