Motivation[edit]
Notified participants of WikiProject France,
I had the idea to created this identifier for some times ; after talking with Jcmoissinac (which is needing it), I'm now proposing it.
This is an ARK identifier for artworks (paintings, drawings, sculptures, etc. from all other the World and all periods, from Antiquity until modern times) in the Museum of Fine Arts of Rennes (Q3098373) in Rennes (Q647) (France (Q142)), a major art museum in France.
Currently, around 3000 artworks already have a Wikidata items and use described at URL (P973) (or other similar properties) to link to this database (see [https://w.wiki/8FNb SPARQL query) that could be moved to this specific property. There is also a lot of files on Commons (under commons:Category:Collections of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rennes that could benefit from this property).

- I will stop immedaately any new item creation by my account until I understand the origin of duplicates. The current method of creation is supposed to create items with inventory number and to avoid to create a new item if an item with the same inventory number already exist.. - I have detected 4 works of art that appear in other collections; they are probably loans (Q123574634, Q123574372, Q123575188, Q123574754). For the others, I seem to have produced exact copies of the same entity; I'll look into how; I've noticed on several cases that they are now redirected to a single copy in the interface. - Thanks @Jcmoissinac. Indeed I spent 2 full hours yesterday cleaning up (i.e. merging) the paintings (~500 unique entities)... just to find out a couple newly created items for the same paintings I had already merged. Obviously there is the same issue at a larger scale with the thousands of drawings and prints (see the error message at Q123507165#P4765 for an extreme case). Another point of concern (unrelated to the id creation) is the hijacking of at least 2 totally unrelated artworks (I think you got the revert notifications).
