Description | biological period or stage when this biological process or phenomenon occurs |
---|---|
Represents | biological phase (Q22299142) |
Data type | Item |
Domain | biological process (Q2996394) or physiological condition (Q7189713) |
Allowed values | temporal concepts, including biological phase (Q22299142) |
Example |
- Motivation
At the moment, there is no way of linking between biological phenomenons and biological temporal concepts. This property will also be useful to describe the concepts of embryology (Q131683). To my knowledge, no other ontology has this relation. --Okkn (talk) 16:48, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

- Discussion
Is this about naming a temporary biological process and then connecting that to what chemical processes happen in that time? Are these the same? Can you either verify or further explain the difference?
- hunger (Q3535686) → lipid metabolism (Q6556363)
- menstrual cycle (Q83864) → menstruation (Q12171)
- fatigue (Q9690) → sleep (Q35831)
- intoxication (Q205972) → ethanol metabolism (Q6011565)

- @Bluerasberry: Thank you for your comment. I'm assuming that the allowed value of this property is concepts relating to time or span, not temporary (transient) biological process. That is, the value should be the period of biological rhythm, biological cycle, or life cycle, most of which are generated endogenously.
- I think lipid metabolism (Q6556363) and ethanol metabolism (Q6011565) can't be the values of this property because they are not temporal concepts (concepts relating to time or period), but just metabolism process. menstrual cycle (Q83864) IS the biological cycle and, conversely, the period of menstrual cycle (Q83864) (follicular phase (Q5464664) and luteal phase (Q2363481)) can be the value of this property. And fatigue (Q9690) → sleep (Q35831) is inappropriate because when someone is fatigue (Q9690), he or she should not always be sleeping. As for menstruation (Q12171) and sleep (Q35831), "menstrual period" and "sleep stage" can be the values (eg. "menstrual bleeding" → "menstrual period", sleep apnea (Q213600) → "sleep phase"). --Okkn (talk) 05:59, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
- Support I find your response satisfying. I do think this property can be confusing but any property will need development, and you have drawn some lines about what is and is not appropriate use. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:49, 4 January 2018 (UTC)

- Comment it is not clear to me why this should be restricted to biology, but I don't know much about this topic − Pintoch (talk) 10:30, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
- It is not necessary to restrict this in biological fields, but I have no idea when we can use this property other than biological concepts so far. --Okkn (talk) 15:09, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
