Merlissimo inactivity

The monthly check of inactivity occurs on the 1st each month. For 1st August, it appears that Merlissimo has only performed 4 admin actions in 6 months and thus doesn't need the tools. Please see User:Cyberpower678/ActiveStats. Cheers. Delsion23 (talk) 12:06, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Innocent bot

Innocent bot (talkcontribslogs)

Can Innocent bot regain his botflag, not for editing in the mainspace, but for reading with apihighlimits, some random edits in my own namespace, and some projectpages related to task forces? The number of edits will be low, so also the api-questions, but apihighlimits would simplify the sourcecode. -- Lavallentalk(block) 10:40, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

✓ Done Shouldn't be that much of a big deal. Vogone talk 17:08, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Flood flag (P815)

Flood

Hey guys, could a kind crat add the flood flag to PMG (talkcontribslogs)? We have discussed the matter on his talk and, given that he edits pretty fast, the flag would be beneficial. Thanks. — ΛΧΣ21 17:42, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

I guess we need some discussion first, as the case is unusual. I personally, based on the discussion, do not mind giving the flag.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:52, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Not really an unusual case Ymblanter. John F. Lewis (talk) 18:29, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Since it is proposed that the flag is given forever, I believe it is unusual. However, I am not opposed, I just want to hear opinions of the fellow crats. I hope at least two of them are available on the short notice.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:45, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Well, we can also ask him to create PMG-Bot (talkcontribslogs) and give it a bot flag no? Since he does a high volume of edits that are actually the same on every item, just like a bot :) — ΛΧΣ21 18:55, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Bots go through the community discussion.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:05, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Indeed. But that would be an option, I mean (community discussion). — ΛΧΣ21 19:07, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Sure, but let us try the easiest thing first.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:10, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Well, we have already had identical situations (e. g. with User:Docu), when also an alternate account for script editing was created (User:Docu w. script). I don't see why this case should be handled differently. Anyway, I wouldn't be opposed to get rid of the common understanding of bots as we transferred it from Wikipedia and I would welcome a solution where at least any admin and preferably also any trusted user could be hidden from our gigantic recent changes feed (with the bot user right). Regards, Vogone talk 19:11, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Vogone has an interesting idea. I think I would likewise support hiding all autoconfirmed/admin from the rc. In theory, all of those people should be making good edits, right? The rc is too fast to monitor right now. Ajraddatz (Talk) 19:22, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
I am very uncomfortable with that idea. Given how easy autoconfirmation is, a vandal could easily slip in and then the only chance we would get to see him vandalizing is on the rare item on watchlist. I would much rather PMG create a new account (PMG-Repeat, PMG-Semiauto, PMG-Auto, PMG-bot, etc.) to make vast changes under.
As it is, it is not difficult to filter down to users who need watching by checking patrolled edits, as those have not been turned off here. Trusted users should get that right. --Izno (talk) 20:40, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
"[A] vandal could easily slip in and then the only chance we would get to see him vandalizing is on the rare item on watchlist" o_O … where did you get that information from? Of course you could still see all edits on RC, just not by default. Vogone talk 20:43, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
How exactly do I show edits for an editor while that editor has flood enabled? :) Even so, I'm still very uncomfortable with that being the default, for which I can see no good reason. Users who really really really want to see likely or possible bad edits need to be looking at edits which aren't (auto)patrolled. --Izno (talk) 20:57, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Since I do not see in this discussion any opposition to giving the flooder flag to the user, I assigned the flag. It might be a good idea to discuss more general options starting from the Project Chat.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:44, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
Are you sure? As far as I see, the creation of an alternate account was suggested, as per our flood policy. Vogone talk 17:54, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
I somehow interpreted this as an additional option. Good, I will deflag him, and we are discussing further.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:06, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
I'd prefer to have him use his only account, though. Breaking his contributions into two because of this is unusual and not completely necessary. — ΛΧΣ21 18:50, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Then go ahead and propose some of the ideas above in an RFC. At our current state, an alternative account would be the only solution unless PMG intends to ask for a temporary flood flag here each time he starts to edit quickly. Vogone talk 18:54, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
