- Motivation
There are many people, especially in Japan, whose birthday is commonly known but year of birth isn't. We can't use date of birth (P569) on items of such people because time datatype don't allow us to put day and month without year. Support provided there is constraint that prevents its use when DoB is present. Comment. We have the same problem with age of a person (Q185836). Someone's age on a said date might be known without one's actual birthdate being known. Should we also create a property (again with constraints giving priority to date of birth (P569) when available) for this? Contrary to birthday, age would also be relevant for a remarkable tree (Q811534), for instance. Thierry Caro (talk) 19:00, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
- Again I wonder if date of birth (P569) should not have its datatype changed to item. With this change, the problem would be solved. You could link it to items such as May 3 (Q2547) or September 22, 1907 (Q16025388) depending on what we know. The French Wikipedia has a project to create an article, and thus a Wikidata item, for any given date of recent history (after 1789 or something). Thierry Caro (talk) 19:11, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
