nominated for (P1411) is kind of similar but not identical.

Is there any good way to indicate that someone declined or turned down or refused an award?
For example: I was looking at David Bowie (Q5383) and it currently says that he was awarded a "Commander of the Order of the British Empire" and "Order of the British Empire", when in fact he declined those awards per w:en:David Bowie#Awards and recognition and w:en:List of people who have declined a British honour.
The closest I can see is reason for deprecated rank (P2241), but I'm not sure if that is appropriate.
Additionally, I think one of the end-goals would be to remove those awards from displaying at external locations such as https://yago-knowledge.org/graph/yago:David_Bowie and I'm not sure if P2241 would have that effect?

Comment This seems like a good idea but could you be clearer how you think this should be modeled? Would the value of this property by the award? If you could update your examples to show exactly how you think this should work that would be clearer (see other property proposals for how they do examples). Support I support the idea, the use case seems clear. But I second ArthurPSmith (talk • contribs • logs); there is a need of improving the style of the proposal and adding formatted examples before it can be created. Oppose I think this can be achieved reasonably well with a qualifier as I've done at Q5383#P166. So David Bowie (Q5383) award received (P166) Commander of the Order of the British Empire (Q12201477) qualifier nature of statement (P5102) nomination declined (Q26252351). --99of9 (talk) 00:30, 9 June 2023 (UTC)- Support, if some public people disagree so strongly with something that they find the strength to decline an award, I think WD should be able to record it. @99of9: I qualifier should not completely reverse the meaning of a statement!
