Thanks for the fantastic work you've been doing on railway lines, both here and at OSM.
I've made some changes to ALL and ALW (South Alloa Junction to Longcarse Junction (Q113688176) and Longcarse Branch (Q113688123)) beyond Longcarse Junction (Q106041594) -- cf map query tinyurl.com/ye2662p9
It looks to me that ALW is the short line from Longcarse Junction (Q106041594) to Alloa West Junction (Q124570578), which matches the information on the ALW data page, whereas I think ALL ran through to Alloa goods station (Q15179493) which I think corresponds to "South Alloa (later goods depot, formerly A.)" on the ALL data page. This would fit with the tendency for ELR sections to often follow the original line ownership, ie Caledonian vs North British as per File:Alloa & Stirling RJD 116.jpg, and also the mileages look about right.
It still leaves the mysterious claimed "junctions with the North British Railway" on the ALL page before and after the goods station rather unclear, though there maybe is a connection visible on the 1900 OS map beyond the station, though not directly to SAA (Stirling and Alloa Branch (Q113659046)).
I've made changes to Wikidata accordingly. I've adjusted OSM a little bit, removing what I think is the ALW section from ALL; but I wasn't confident enough OSM editor to create an ALW object to assign that bit of former track to, nor to extend ALL to the site of the former goods station; so I would be very grateful if you could put that in place, if you think this understanding is correct.
Thanks again for all that you are doing. Best regards, Jheald (talk) 13:48, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
