Anti troll filter is stubborn at times…

Hello,

I wanted to add to the English description of a short story Beyond the Door (Q4900116) the name of its author that was already specified in the French description, and in the Author statement, but given the family name is "Dick", the filter prevented me adding it (I was invited to resubmit with the risk being marked as potential offender, but in fact even when trying to resubmit the warning still prevents me adding the legitimate name).

I suggest that filter does NOT prevent adding such if it’s already mentioned as a statement in the Qitem.

Just register an account and annoyance go *poof*. Anyone without an account are de facto not trusted. Infrastruktur (talk) 04:05, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
Note that the filter is not configured to prevent saving, it just warns. So you should have been able to save anyways.
The problem with your suggestion is that it could be used for bypassing the filter, and also the filter can only see the Qitem, but it cannot "translate" it. --Matěj Suchánek (talk) 09:29, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the answer, but I can ensure you that after the warning, when I tried to save again, the warning prevent the save, no matter how many retries… so maybe there is some kind of bug? About my suggestion, it won’t allow bypassing the filter when it is not legitimate, given the presence of the word has to ba already present on the Qitem to allow a copy to another field. 2A02:2788:228:2EE:90A6:D6A7:AD94:453 23:44, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

CiteTool

When using CiteTool for scraping title and language of work information, I have noticed that when I input a worldcat.org link into the reference url box that I keep getting an error message of "lookup language failed, guessing English." Does anyone know why this is happening and/or how to fix this? I just noticed this the past few days making edits. Last month, it was working fine. Also, for the most part, when I use links to other websites for the reference url, it also works fine. NOlson16 (talk) 20:15, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Reasonator

When trying to activate the "Reasonator" I am getting a "504 Gateway Time-out" "nginx". This issue has been going for a few days already. Is there a remedy? Wuselig (talk) 09:19, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

Seems to work again Wuselig (talk) 09:49, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

431: Status Code

431 Status Code is being faced when using the API. Assuming possibly due just to a set limit. But if that's the case, hoping the limit can be increased. 163.182.216.189 09:05, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

Could you provide more details about the specific API you are using and the action you are trying to perform? It would be helpful to know the type of request or query you are sending and the exact error message you receive. -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 11:40, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

SQID: 504 Gateway Time-out

I tried to access the SQID tool but I got a 504 Gateway Time-out, both on https://sqid.toolforge.org/ and https://tools.wmflabs.org/sqid/. I didn't find any announcement or issue that the tool is shut down. LennertSch (talk) 08:40, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the ping, upgraded the webservice container and it's running again now. Akorenchkin (talk) 16:34, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
I'm guessing the recent toolforge outages spotted by myself and others was related to T343198. Infrastruktur (talk) 15:18, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Date format

Hello! Please help me fix the date format for Chechen. For example, here I see "31 март 2021", and it should be "2021 шеран 31 март" Or briefly "2023 ш. 31 март" or "2023, 31 март". Takhirgeran Umar (talk) 06:22, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

I think this issue is related to MediaWiki itself. Translatewiki.net is a localisation platform for MediaWiki messages, and if you translate the months there, they should be pushed here over time. To get started, you would need to create an account (if you don’t have one already) on Translatewiki.net. Once you have an account, you can change the English text for the month of March for example, to Chechen using this link: https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=MediaWiki:March/che. -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 11:30, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
The question is not about the month names themselves (March should be, and is, март). The question is about the ordering – it should be YDM, but Wikibase still, after over a decade, doesn’t support anything but DMY (or maybe also MDY, but definitely not any format other than ISO 8601 where the year precedes the day). —Tacsipacsi (talk) 12:28, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Seems YDM pretty uncommon format as per https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19455-01/806-0169/overview-7/index.html A request in https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/ might help. Bouzinac💬✒️💛 04:57, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
YMD is pretty common (I don’t think the countries listed as YMD in your table actually use that, but for example China and Japan uses it – over 1.5 billion people), yet it’s not supported. I know there’s already a Phabricator task for that, although I can’t find it right now. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 20:54, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

504 Gateway Time-out for QuickStatememts

I tried to access the QuickStatements tool but I got a 504 Gateway Time-out. I extracted many data to make strong knowledge graph but i can not contribute the data. ChoKukSuhoTemp (talk) 02:29, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello there, seems that Quickstatements is down @CD @Magnus Manske . Thanks a lot ! Bouzinac💬✒️💛 04:54, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
@Bouzinac I guess the cause of this phenomenone is exceptional large batch edits of User:Renamerr. Renamerr is running two QuickStatements batches #213598 and #213599 simultaneously. ChoKukSuhoTemp (talk) 09:58, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
Restarted the webservice. This is a known issue on the toolforge infrastructure that the webservice sometimes goes 504 and doesn't restart itself. This can affect all tools AFAICT. Very annoying. --Magnus Manske (talk) 11:38, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
