- Motivation
In preparation to add annotations and interpretations of genetic variants in Wikidata, we need a property to explicitly link a variant and the related gene. Genetic variants have been modelled using the "part of (P361)" property. After reconsideration the use of that property does not capture the full semantics of those relationships. A designated property would be a better choice. It als leads to simpler queries, when querying for gene-disease and gene-drugs interactions. Genetic variants are key in expressing relationships between genes and diseases and genes and drug responses --Andrawaag (talk) 15:52, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
