Motivation[edit]

This database, which started as a print publication in the 1970s, is ground zero for most knowledge of comic book creators of the entire first half of the time period it covers (1928-1999), when most comics were published without credits. It is also a thorough survey of mainstream, alternative, underground, and imported/translated comics creators of the latter half of that time period. The database is considered complete since its founder passed away in 2006 and ever since has been under the stewardship of the Grand Comics Database (Q3775045), so it is unlikely to become defunct any time soon.
