Flickr user ID[edit]
Originally proposed at Wikidata:Property proposal/Person
Description | identifier for a person or organisation, with an account at Flickr |
---|---|
Data type | External identifier |
Example | |
Source | https://www.flickr.com/ & website account on (P553) |
Formatter URL | https://www.flickr.com/photos/$1 |
- Motivation
We currently have 130 Flickr user IDs using P553; the fourth-highest usage of that property. As of March 2013 Flickr had a total of 87 million registered members. Consensus to create properties for websites appearing regularly in P553 was agreed last year. This will also be needed when we integrate with Wikimedia Commons.
The URL pattern also matches individual photos like spacex/16601443698 and albums like spacex/albums/72157650890717390; we'd need to decide whether to allow that; or have a constraint against it. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:09, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- Discussion
- Support because it's valuable to extract common uses of website account on (P553) into their own properties and to integrate more fully with Wikimedia Commons. I suggest a URL pattern that allows https://www.flickr.com/photos/$1<end of line> and https://www.flickr.com/photos/$1/<end of line>, but disallows https://www.flickr.com/photos/$1/<any characters>. Someone more skilled than me at regex could do this. Runner1928 (talk) 21:50, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- Support. This seems like an important property for integration with Commons. YULdigitalpreservation (talk) 12:36, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
- Support - though we'll need to make sure we can handle both
spacex

formats (all named useraccounts can still be accessed with the numeric ID, and it shows up in URLs sometimes) Andrew Gray (talk) 20:41, 4 October 2016 (UTC)- Good point - example duly added. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:12, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
