Discussion[edit]
- I feel like it should be modelled other way around: Left 4 Dead 2 Demo (Q122658430) is a demo for Left 4 Dead 2 (Q472909), to make it consistent with mod of (P7075) and expansion of (P8646). Facenapalm (talk) 19:42, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- And what would you change the property name and description to? Trade (talk) 20:02, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- I'd change the label to "demo of", and I'm not sure how to word the description since English isn't my first language. expansion of (P8646) suggests something like "trial version of a software or a video game", but I'm not sure if P8646 is worded good in the first place.
Alternative description: "full version of this video game or software". Facenapalm (talk) 20:16, 19 September 2023 (UTC)- It makes perfect sense to model expansion of (P8646) the other way around since games have dozens if not tens of dozens of DLCs.
- I dont think it makes sense for this property because almost all games only have one demo Trade (talk) 20:21, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

@Matthias M., Nicereddy, Wd-Ryan:--Trade (talk) 22:28, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support I agree with Trade that it should be on the main game's item, for the reasons above. official app (P4290) is used on the main item, and so is official demo URL (P11201). -wd-Ryan (Talk/Edits) 23:28, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- software demo (Q122706480) is completely unused. Can you add an example for it? Matthias M. (talk) 05:30, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
- Is this enough? Trade (talk) 17:31, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
- Comment I’m also more leaning towards the other way around, with "demo of". Jean-Fred (talk) 08:10, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
- Would you support a reverse property if "demo of" gets created? Trade (talk) 15:59, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
- Comment. According to this query, it should be exactly demo of. This way we get rid of the deprecated and broad of (P642) qualifier in statements, which should be replaced by a more specific property whenever possible. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 13:32, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

- @Trade: And which one would that be? Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 17:20, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
- A property that links video game items to their demo Trade (talk) 18:15, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
- It is not necessary. Jean-Frédéric has created a script that displays expansions, compilations or mods of a certain video game directly in the item without the need for a reverse property. I think we can add this property there as well. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 00:43, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

- Support this makes sense to me, and would be useful for various video game items like BDSM: Big Drunk Satanic Massacre Demo (Q122373214) Nicereddy (talk) 17:22, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 00:42, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- Comment Agreed with "demo of". A game can have multiple demos, but a demo is (usually) for a single game. So let's model it as a traditional one-to-many relationship. --Sanqui (talk) 08:31, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- Comment In case someone else had also missed it (and not only me): the proposal was changed from “demo (game → demo)” to “demo of (demo → game) Jean-Fred (talk) 08:34, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Trade, Facenapalm, Wd-Ryan, Matthias M., Jean-Frédéric, Nicereddy: @Sanqui: Done: demo of (P12050). Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 03:24, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
