Motivation

This database covers UK political figures - defined broadly as anyone who's stood for election at local up to national level in the past few years - plus metadata about them and their careers. Usefully, it contains some things we don't model, such as failed attempts at getting elected. We will not want to include most of their people, as we don't usually include very local politicians, but for the (at a guess) 1000-1500 people that we do have items for, it will be a useful link.
