Tour de France 2020 image

[edit]

Could you tell me why you keep changing the image for the 2020 Tour de France? I took that generic photo that shows the peloton and the bay of Nice with the only purpose of representing the race in a generic way, and you prefer a very specific image from the first stage. I prefer the other one and I think that it is more representative of the entire 2020 Tour de France, especially since a start from Nice (city in which three stages took place) is not common in the race history. What do you think? --Martin Mystère (talk) 15:37, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since after 24 hours you did not reply, I am changing it again to the one that I originally set, for the reasons that I told you. --Martin Mystère (talk) 11:32, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nice picture of the beach in Nice ... but you can not see some cyclists clearly, which is most important at the Tour de France. Use your nature picture on an article about Nice. Incidentally, the image is also too long, so it ruins the setup on several Wikipedia pages. --Vandcykel (talk) 11:37, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Your image is used here. It must be plentiful. --Vandcykel (talk) 11:43, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Vandcykel and @Martin Mystère: Copy the corresponding line to your Wiki and see what is displayed

First of all, stay calm, Vandcykel. Because I wanted to discuss and you did not, you simply reverted my edits again and again with your usual arrogance. Show me on which Wikipedia pages it ruins the setup, because I looked at all the cases in which the {{Cycling race/infobox}} is used and I didn't see any issue. I also did what @GAN: suggested and, again, the setup is normal. Mobile and desktop version. Moreover, for the reasons that I explained before, the image represents the Tour de France way more than a generic image of the peloton that could have been taken anywhere and, at most, represents one stage. The Tour the France is not only the cyclists, as you suggest, but way more: it's the entire organization, the summer in France, the geography, the people on the side of the road, etc... All things that I would like to see in the first image of one Wikipedia article about the race. --Martin Mystère (talk) 11:18, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Since you have not been able to show me in which case a vertical image would ruins the setup, I am going to change the default image again, for the reasons that I told you. --Martin Mystère (talk) 15:31, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Martin Mystère: I meant that the module allows locally in each Wiki to place any image, and not the one that is indicated on Wikidata. But I propose to wait until the end of the TDF, suddenly there will be a photo from the awards ceremony. - 176.59.51.182 18:55, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

UCI Cycling Esports World Championships

[edit]

Not only cyclists took part in the race? These Q91696761 and Q92044370 indicate that they are researchers. — GAN (talk) 19:51, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they run Zwift next to their civilian jobs. There are also skiers and triathletes among the participants. --Vandcykel (talk) 20:54, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Classification leaders

[edit]

Hi! I don't know if you are familiar with this feature but you can use Cycling module and Wikidata for presenting list of classification leaders after each stage (Q63117539). Check for example how it is displayed on pl.wiki for pl:Étoile de Bessèges 2021 and how I added data at Wikidata pages for both stages. This way is much more useful than adding same tables at each Wiki separetely ;) 99kerob (talk) 19:25, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for cumulative elevation gain

[edit]

Hi! I see that we've been losing some cumulative elevation gain (P7297) claims from items like 2021 Giro d'Italia, stage 1 (Q105296139). I'd restore them, but I cannot see what source for the claims is. Can you provide one? Thanks, Bovlb (talk) 20:33, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It was made one-day this year. You only have an article about the race in the da-wiki. https://www.vueltacastillayleon.es/etapas/GAN (talk) 18:28, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why not

[edit]

add all the rankings of 2022 Tour de France (Q98043180)? You should discuss this first before just deleting hours of work - that is misregarding. --Tommes (talk) 16:53, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No race has the full standings and it has never been used. Many modules on many different Wikis use Wikidata, and the list is getting way too long. So therefore. --Vandcykel (talk) 16:56, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nonsense. "We never used a wheel", said the Neandertaler. Lists in articles won't get more longer than now, because at my proposal a standard limit is set (to 10 and 25) and a feature/argument to set it manually up or down is also added by Psembel.
I insist that you reinstate my work. --Tommes (talk) 16:59, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to change normal practice, discuss it first. Don't destroy many articles across the Wiki with long lists. --Vandcykel (talk) 17:11, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You don't understand what I read: Lists in articles won't get longer than before, because a standard limit is set (to 10 and 25 for general).
If there maybe a longer list anywhere, tell me!
This is publically discussed here. --Tommes (talk) 17:40, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Now any classification can display any number of rows. To do this, you need to update the module to the current version. And in the near future there will be changes related to the indication of the race category in the Wikidata element.
As an example, the general classification "Tour de France Femmes 2022" of 5 and 15 positions. At the same time, 25 positions are indicated in the element.

Vandcykel, your editing is again being discussed at Wikidata:Administrators'_noticeboard#Please_stop_user:Vandcykel_from_deleting_data. As much as I am aware, you are still removing valid data because a downstream user—apparently some module at Wikipedia—is unable to handle it. This is, however, not a valid reason to remove valid data here, and the module should be fixed instead. If there are other compelling reasons, I invite you to talk about them. Otherwise I expect you not to remove valid claims as for instance in this edit. You otherwise risk to be blocked from mainspace editing. —MisterSynergy (talk) 11:25, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ProCyclingStats

[edit]

Hej Vandcykel,

Sdr. Nærå Fri- og Efterskole (Q7439743). Er du enig i den betragtning? --C960657 (talk) 19:00, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
