Wikibooks mapping to Wikidata items - DEPLOYMENT IS TUESDAY

Please take a look at Wikidata:Wikibooks/Development, and give your feedback on how we should handle Wikibooks interwiki links. The deployment is this Tuesday, so we really need to get this in order very quickly! Rschen7754, sent by --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:18, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

As you voted for 50 mainspace edits & 5 admin/crat actions over 6 months I thought you might like to know incase you are not watching the page and want to alter your comments / adjust which you prefer! ·addshore· talk to me! 00:48, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Activity note

I'm on an extended sabbatical from Wikimedia for a few months to take care of real-life matters. I'm hoping to be back around May or June. I may come by and check on things, but I cannot guarantee a timely response. --Rschen7754 02:15, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

:( I understand everyone has real life matters and obligations. But anyway, I hope to see you back soon. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 13:39, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
As an update, I've been checking in regularly, and have done quick tasks, but have been lacking the motivation to do anything substantial. Unfortunately, it will probably be this way for several more weeks. --Rschen7754 04:23, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

A RFC has been started in regards to allowing global sysops to continue to perform admin actions on Wikidata. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:14, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Oversight request

Could my IP address in all of the edits I've made with (Redacted) be oversighted, as well as this request when you're done? I believe this to be safer than divulging my email address, as it is unclear whether emails to Oversighters are retained indefinitely. Thanks in advance. Alakzi (talk) 16:26, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

@Alakzi: Oversight emails are indeed retained indefinitely as far as I know. However, it is nearly always worse, regardless, to make a request in public. Also, the edits in question do not fall under our oversight policy and so will most likely not be oversighted.--Jasper Deng (talk) 18:58, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
They obviously do fall under your Oversight policy: "This includes hiding the IP data of editors who accidentally logged out and thus inadvertently revealed their own IP addresses." It is also considered poor form to argue with someone who's expressed privacy concerns. Alakzi (talk) 19:01, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
@Alakzi: I mean, you did not have to post about it here and we would've never known they were yours. The most I can do is revdelete the fact that the IP made those edits. The contents of the edits themselves will stay.--Jasper Deng (talk) 19:33, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: I did not ask for the content of my edits to be oversighted. :-) I'd appreciate it if you did that. Please revdel my original post here as well, which contains my IP. Alakzi (talk) 19:42, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
Both done.--Jasper Deng (talk) 19:43, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
Thank you. Alakzi (talk) 19:47, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
@Alakzi: Done, but I agree that it is much worse to make this request in public - not only does this make the request visible to the 26 people who watch this page, mirrors, Google indexing, Wikimedia Labs replicas (for a time), etc., but I also did not see this request for several hours (I only check Wikidata once or twice a day), whereas the email system notifies me and the two other oversighters immediately via email. If you are concerned about privacy, I would set up a separate Gmail account for Wikimedia.
@Jasper Deng: We actually do oversight IP addresses on request, if the link is sufficiently clear - please let us make the call next time as to whether or not something should be oversighted. --Rschen7754 04:50, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
Oh, and for the record the emails that are archived on OTRS are only accessible to current Wikidata oversighters and OTRS admins. Sometimes individual oversighters may have copies of them in their inboxes if they want to be emailed (this improves response times since otherwise we would have to log into OTRS to see tickets). When I step down from being an oversighter, I will be deleting all my copies of such emails (where reasonable; I won't be disassembling my automated backups to make sure that every last trace of the emails are gone). --Rschen7754 04:59, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
