Distinct values?

[edit]

The codes are only distinct within each type of unit, so Panjah (Q115475431) is village code 1531 and Gidhour Block (Q24935113) is development block code 1531. Peter James (talk) 15:37, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Peter James, @RamSeraph, It is important that wikidata alerts about duplicate values are avoided, as others may waste time figuring out whether the code is in error for specific item or because of the property definition being ambiguous. In view of the proposal, I propose that this property name be changed to LGD census village code, as it is same as 2011 census village code, and all other assignment of this property which are not census villages, be changed to appropriate LGD codes. @Arjunaraoc@Peter James So, it looks like the LGD code for local bodies( District Panchayats, Block Panchayats, Gram Panchayats ) is a common sequence and it might be appropriate to call it LGD local body code. So, I am thinking of letting this particular code be inherited for the local bodies and creating a separate code for villages called LGD Village Code ( clarifying in the description that it is for Census villages, which it looks like it is, though there is no official confirming this ). The redoing of the village codes can be automated( I will have a go at it ). RamSeraph (talk) 05:11, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@RamSeraph, The census village code is adopted as LGD code as far as Andhra Pradesh is considered. You can do a check for another one or two states. If you find it valid for other states as well, It is better we state LGD census village code to make it clear, as village may mean general habitation of any kind.
