Feedbak: layout[edit]

Just a quick note concerning presentation of conflicts. I'll just sketch a slightly altered layout with a random article as an example.

rationale:

  • no need to hide language prefix: The language prefix is redundant since (at the moment) conflicts are organized on subpages, but it really doesn't hurt comprehension if the language prefix is explicitely shown with every Wikipedia article title. I sometimes (when a bit tired) unconciously missed the prefix.
  • have the article with failed import on a line of its own: Together with the next point, this gives a clearer structure. There is (a) an article that could not be imported (b) a list of candidates and (c) articles in the same language (as the failed import) that contribute to the inconsistency. – (b) and (c) have such a different layout, that upon first look, they can be automatically differentiated. Therefore it is not necessary to employ special symbols to make a distinction. And they can be shown on one and the same hierarchy level.
  • always list Wikidata candidates first: Gives uniformity to conflict items whether they are local or global: first line is the problematic article, then follows a list of likely Wikidata items. In case of local conflicts, relevant Wikipedia articles are listed. – Think of it as answers to a series of questions: WHAT article faild import? WHERE could it probably belong? WHY did import fail?
  • no need to number items. Even if the items are ordered according to "most probable candidate at the top" there is no information gained by numbering this rather short list.
  • no small script: depending on settings and technique in the users browsers, the two-letter language codes can be hard to read and distinguish. ("pl" <-> "pt").

Another point: Because of the huge number of entries, editing the page is slow. Is it possible to group items in batches/sections of 50 to 100? At what count do you stop now when filling the page with new entries? 1000? 2000? IMHO the number of conflicts presented at the moment is rather to big than to small, and decreasing that number would not impact progress at resolving the conflicts.

Anyway, these suggestions and thoughts are meant purely constructive. The page is quite useable as-is and I am really fascinated by the fact that you bravely confront the complexity inherent to this task. -- Make (talk) 15:34, 27 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

dawiki request[edit]

Request for dawiki. Report is useful. --Steenth (talk) 14:11, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Support BTW: If there are only 37 missing pages having at least one langlink on Nordfriisk Wikipedia (frrwiki), is there a list, where we can we find them? --Kolja21 (talk) 14:46, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have 27 missing pages here. --Steenth (talk) 15:11, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I've started with Geschichte von Nordfriesland. How should we handle stubs/redirect like frr:ISO_3166-1 and frr:ISO_3166-2? --Kolja21 (talk) 15:33, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
BTW: I like the tool Display Wikidata Info on Wikipedia. Hungarian Wikipedia has add it to their gadgets. Can you do the same on da. or frr.Wikiedia? --Kolja21 (talk) 15:47, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hungarian Global items done[edit]

I've finished nearly all the Hungarian Global items. The only ones left have various issues which will need changes to other pages on Wikidata or on hu:WP which I am not sure of so I will leave for others.

The local items identify pages on hu:WP which should probably be merged. I will leave that for the hu:WP team to deal with.

Italian Global items next. Filceolaire (talk) 17:35, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The page is nearly empty and the table on the top shows "3185 missing". What does that mean? Sanyi4 (talk) 19:40, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I contacted the bot owner, but he has zero edits since March 3, so I do not know. The bot is running.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:25, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
