Task/s: Add and Update open days Statements on Wikidata for SBB train stations
Code: Written in Java using Wikidata Toolkit
Function details: The Bot uses data from data.sbb.ch to update Wikidata entries of SBB train stations. --SBBUpdaterBot (talk) 14:31, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- who is the operator of this bot? it's listed as user:SBBUpdaterBot which can't be. BrokenSegue (talk) 15:01, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- I added myself as the operator of the bot. DFB98 (talk) 17:23, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- How many edits will this bot make and how often? The samples seem fine but I'm a little worried about giving the bot flag to someone with zero edit history across all wikis. BrokenSegue (talk) 20:55, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- + how frequently do these change? I'm not sure if they would be that interesting to have if they quickly get outdated and wont be kept up-to-date. --- Jura 18:11, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Please make sure to use minute precision items. This seems to have worked out mostly, except at [1] where it uses 9 AM (Q41618181) instead of 09:00 (Q55811413).
- If you add new statements, please use more explicit edit summaries like "adding" or "creating" instead of "updating", e.g. "
adding [[Property:P3025]] with [[Property:P8626]] and [[Property:P8627]]
". - If you update items with new times, please create a new statement with preferred rank (do not remove/delete/overwrite existing statements).
- Are you affiliated with SBB? --- Jura 18:11, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks for the hints. I will adjust the bot accordingly. I found out why I accidentaly added 9 AM (Q41618181) instead of 09:00 (Q55811413), and fixed the problem in the bot. Yes, I am affiliated with SBB. The bot is part of a project for university, but when the bot is done, the bot will be handed over to SBB and they are going to be operating the bot. I am not sure if they are going to run the bot daily, but it is going to run at least weekly. SBBUpdaterBot (talk) 11:27, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- @SBBUpdaterBot: Is this going to update on holidays and such? Like I don't know if we want to update literally every time the schedule changes at all but the general operating hours seems like a fine things to update as long as the data is not going to change very frequently. BrokenSegue (talk) 07:22, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- @BrokenSegue: We thought about updating on holidays, but we also think that the regular operating hours are enough as the don't change very often. I also have a question (maybe also for Jura): When adding new statements with preferred rank, should I also change the old (now outdated) statements back to normal rank (or even deprecated rank)? SBBUpdaterBot (talk) 11:43, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- I would say yes you should change the outdated statements to normal and add a qualifier indicating when they stopped being valid. Only the current hours should be preferred. BrokenSegue (talk) 00:30, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

- @BrokenSegue: I tested the (now updated) bot again on Bienne railway station (Q694033) and it correctly identified Sunday (Q132) with 9 AM (Q41618181) as outdated and set the rank back to normal. You said I also should "add a qualifier indicating when they stopped being valid", and as suggested on Help:Ranking I used end time (P582) for that, but now the statement has a potential issue "end time is not a valid qualifier for open days". Should I change something?
@DFB98: This seems to be stale, is this still active? Perhaps @Ymblanter, Lymantria: could comment? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 22:01, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
