Two pages, one item, confused bot

[edit]

https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q113639025 https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q123677323 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/More_Time_%28Linton_Kwesi_Johnson_album%29

Two Wikidata pages for the same album. I have tried to add the Wikipedia link to the older and more complete page. I get an odd error. Meanwhile a bot keeps adding that same link to an empty page.

I don't know what to do so I hope I can leave this puzzle in the hands of the experts.

I think this has been dealt with. --Matěj Suchánek (talk) 18:24, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Found what appears to be a bug

[edit]

When using the filter function on the Revision History section of a user talk, there is a filter labeled "[TEST, do not approve] QS3 [1.0]".

The first section of that label leads me to believe that the filter is not supposed to be visible to the public. Keep in mind I could be wrong. Cleo Carson (talk) 21:42, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Ccarson2007: Thanks for reporting this issue! As far as I can tell, there is no bug here; the tag comes from a test OAuth consumer, and OAuth consumers can be used by the user who requested them (the developer) even without being approved. (All the edits associated with the tag come from this one user, as far as I can tell.) Arguably, it would’ve been better to have the [TEST, do not approve] disclaimer only in the description rather than in the name, or the test edits should’ve been done on Test Wikidata rather than real Wikidata, but neither of those can be changed now. OSM Planet - Request for whitelist

[edit]

The official SPARQL endpoint for OpenStreetMap is hopelessly out of date and contains no geometry data, which makes it almost useless.

Thankfully some people at Freiburg has now imported the OSM geometries into a triplestore which is potentially very useful.

I'll probably try out querying it from Jena since it has full geoSPARQL features, but it doesn't have the pretty maps that WDQS offers. Also the maps at QLever are rather crash-prone at the moment.

Please whitelist for federation the SPARQL endpoint: https://qlever.cs.uni-freiburg.de/api/osm-planet

Thank you. Infrastruktur (talk) 11:54, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is work on adding the Wikidata and dblp endpoint going on here: phab:T339347. Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 15:44, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Cite Q - cites a replaced work

[edit]

ʽvːConfirmation bias and conflictʼ displays Categoryː "Cite Q - cites a replaced work" at the end of the article. I delete {{cite Q|Q105090926ˌ, and this error "Category" disappears.

ʽQ105090926ʼ links to "Un Bout du Monde", which changed its name to "Un Bout des Médias". I'm guessing that this error does not like how I recorded that name change.

What do you suggest I do with this?

ALSO, the traditional Mediawiki syntax no longer worksː I was unable to link to the Wikiversity article using the standard double square bracket ("[" duplicatedː It gets changed to a single quote and fails to link to the Wikiversity article.

Evidently, I can use a naked URL, but why should I have to?

AND nowiki doesn't work like I'm used to, either. ???

And my 4 tildes get displayed differently. This latter cutesy "feature" is tolerable, because it at least works as expected.

Created items do not appear

[edit]

Yesterday, I createad two items, here and here. Why do they not appear in the articles on the nl-wiki? Wickey (talk) 10:37, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You forgot to add the sitelinks, see here. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 12:36, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. It should be mentioned clearly on the Create a new Item page, and may be in a pop-up while creating, to notice the necessary step.--Wickey (talk) 13:54, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you use the Add links (Koppelingen toevoegen) link on Wikipedia (you may need to open it in a new tab to avoid the popup getting in your way), the sitelink is automatically added during the item creation. Of course, this is also something that could be better documented. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 11:29, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Format of calendars in occitan

[edit]

When we use the calendars (Julian and Gregorian), the Occitan version is written in Catalan (the words are Julià and Gregorià). It would be possible to translate it. Joanoto Sant-casal (talk) 12:07, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It is possible: just finish translating the message group Wikibase - Lib on translatewiki.net. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 18:16, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

sex or gender (P21) and suggestion list

[edit]

Hello, there is a problem displaying the list of suggestions for sex or gender (P21).

If you try to add a value, here are the first ones suggested by default:

If you click outside the input field, the list disappears, and if you click it again to add a value, the list defined in Property:P21#constraints (for property constraint (P2302)) is now properly displayed:

(with a slight difference: "no value" and "unknown value" between female organism (Q43445) and two-spirit (Q301702) are not present, but this may be logical for technical reasons.)

I'm wondering why the first list is displayed by default, even though it is not defined in Property:P21#constraints. Is it related to a cache problem?

Attempts have been made to solve this display issue: please see the revision history of "sex or gender" (P21), and discussions at Property talk:P21#Suggestions list and Wikidata:Project chat/Archive/2023/10#male and female. Thanks, Korg (talk) 14:11, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly not working Trade (talk) 12:50, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Still crazy: --Florentyna (talk) 19:55, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is still happening, has any work been done on investigating this from the developers side? Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 16:46, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I took a look and figured out what’s wrong. Created T355697 since I couldn’t find an existing task about it. --Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 17:17, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fix is deployed and seems working fine. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 18:40, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
