Database out of sync

Lately I've been using Quarry on the Wikidata database and quickly found out that it's not always accurate. For example, in this edit the page was successfully saved, but according to the DB, the alias still had the old value. Also there are many thousands of redirected items which according to the DB still have labels, descriptions and/or aliases. With regular wiki pages one would perform a null edit to sync the DB, but with items that's not possible, not even with touch.py. I guess one way is to undo the last edit and then undo the undo. Is there a better way? bdijkstra (overleg) 00:20, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

@Bdijkstra: It's possible that there are occasional inconsistencies in the database. Could you please provide the results of a specific Quarry as an example so we can investigate further? -Mohammed Sadat (WMDE) (talk) 12:44, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
I am used to occasional inconsistencies, but normally a null-edit can fix them. In quarry:query/71784 you can see redirects that have text terms. I first noticed an inconsistency with the wikidatawiki DB using quarry:query/59360. With this one I found 4 inconsistencies so far, all were last edited by GZWDer. bdijkstra (overleg) 12:56, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
This doesn't look good. We'll look into it phab:T331394. -Mohammed Sadat (WMDE) (talk) 10:43, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

Username blocked for some reason

I attempted to create an account with the username Styxlethe. I encountered the following error message:

The username "Styxlethe" has been banned from creation. It matches the following disallowed titles list entry: .*[XХҲ][yуýŷÿȳyӲ][iїйиҊuúùûüũůǔūǖǘǚǜŭųűъяёe].* <newaccountonly>

So, uh, no letter y or e in usernames, i guess? St-xl-th- (talk) 19:08, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

Strange, the username does not match the regex, which seems to be meant to catch Хуй or something resembling it. bdijkstra (overleg) 20:04, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for reporting this issue. As Wikidata doesn't inherently have a local username policy, this is coming from m:Title blacklist. It's unclear why this got triggered while not matching the regex. I'll leave a note on the talk page. Please watch here. - Mohammed Sadat (WMDE) (talk) 13:34, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

Q55659167 was redirected to Q47521 on 2 March. The item was revived and then redirected back to Q47521 on 8 March, for a period of 18 minutes. Q55659167 History. Currently ~66k items have a P31 statement pointing to Q55659167 - https://w.wiki/6RNm ... what is the mechanism by which such values are updated to point to Q47521? Is it a matter of concern that 7 days after the initial redirect, 66k items have not been updated? --Tagishsimon (talk) 12:53, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

User:KrBot resolves these, but only after several days. As much as I am aware, it can even reverse this action if the redirect is being removed later. —MisterSynergy (talk) 19:08, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
Thx. The watercourse class tree being borked for seven days, so far, seems suboptimal; it's still for me a problem which appears to be technical. Right now I have no insight into whether or when the issue will be resolved (nor any insight into the prevalence of this issue across WD items) ... no stats. --Tagishsimon (talk) 19:23, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
Almost all backlinks are via P31, all others [1] can be migrated manually in this case if urgent. —MisterSynergy (talk) 19:38, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

Deltabot

Hello! This page appeared in November last year, but DeltaBot still does not archive the properties created there. Anyone fix this error? — MasterRus21thCentury (talk) 17:41, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

@MasterRus21thCentury: do you talk about Wikidata:Property proposal/Computing? It was indeed still missing from the bot job, but I have just added it and started a manual run. It is now also part of the daily archive routine. —MisterSynergy (talk) 19:03, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
@MisterSynergy Yes, that's exactly what he's talking about. MasterRus21thCentury (talk) 19:13, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

Page Vladimir Voronin

https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q189435#P1412

Hello there, I would like to bring to your attention an error on the Wikipedia page about Vladimir Voronin. Specifically, the page currently states that the official language in Moldova is Moldavian, which is not accurate. In reality, the official language in Moldova is Romanian. While the term "Moldavian" was used during the Soviet occupation, it referred to the Romanian language spoken in Moldova rather than a distinct language. Therefore, it is important to update the page to reflect this information correctly. I kindly ask the editors to make the necessary changes to the page to ensure accuracy in the information presented. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I would like to add further information regarding the error on the Wikipedia page about Vladimir Voronin. It appears that the page was recently edited by Jasper Deng to include the incorrect information that the official language in Moldova is Moldavian. Furthermore, it appears that after making this erroneous edit, Jasper Deng went on to block the page, preventing others from making corrections. This behavior is not in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, which prioritize accuracy and transparency in information dissemination. Therefore, I urge the Wikipedia editors to review the changes made by Jasper Deng and take appropriate actions to correct the misinformation and address any potential violations of Wikipedia policies. Thank you for your attention to this matter. 2A00:1858:1029:808B:50EF:94B1:FE38:9DA4 18:26, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

Mistake

Hi. I created the lexeme L1078912 by mistake. Plase, delete it. Thanks. Lojwe (talk) 21:15, 11 March 2023 (UTC)

Again a problem with ListeriaBot

When updating a list manually, the bot returns the message:
Last line:
Return val: 101
(like this),
and although the update failed, it states Done. :( Edelseider (talk) 19:51, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

I've pinged Magnus Manske, Listeria's owner. --Tagishsimon (talk) 20:10, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
@Edelseider: No word on what it was, but it's gone away; normal service resumed; your list is now updated. --Tagishsimon (talk) 20:32, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
@Tagishsimon: So, it was just a hiccup... another one. I wish ListeriaBot was less error-prone. All the best, --Edelseider (talk) 20:36, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

Reference autofill bug

The (wonderful!) "Autofill details" function to fill in references inserts a space before the automatically added author name string. When trying to save, the user is met with the error message

"Could not save due to an error.
String should not start or end with whitespace nor include vertical whitespace or tabs".

It seems there needs to be a "strip whitespace" procedure in the code. Please fix this ASAP, as it keeps inexperienced users from adding well-formed references. Thanks in advance! Asav (talk) 08:21, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

This seems to refer to the CiteTool gadget (or at least, that gadget has “Autofill details” in its i18n), so pinging Nikki as the author. (The gadget doesn’t seem to have a discussion page yet, so I guess there’s no need to move this discussion anywhere else.) Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 09:36, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
