Motivation
[edit]P1545 seems the logical choice, but is already used to order different names of the same person within P735.
The proposal uses Roman numeral as these are generally written that way. (Add your motivation for this property here.) --- Jura 14:58, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
@Moebeus: I think we discussed this some time ago. --- Jura 14:58, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Support Nice! One comment: I would like to see how this will/could play with Sr./Jr./III. "III" is a form that's used quite a lot in the US, especially among parts of the population that are very far from royalty. Marshall Bruce Mathers III (aka. Eminem) being a famous example. - @Moebeus: As we don't store only "Marshall Bruce Mathers", it's somewhat hard to apply there. Maybe by using "has part" as qualifier to Q5608#P1477? --- Jura 15:25, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
- Sr/Jr/III etc are a generational suffix rather than "regnal" numbers - I think you'd want a separate property for those, although it would be useful to record. Andrew Gray (talk) 18:49, 18 September 2019 (UTC)

- Support Might be a good idea to have a property representing regnal name (Q1200976) as well - in some contexts, eg popes, these are almost always different from their personal names. Andrew Gray (talk) 18:49, 18 September 2019 (UTC)
