- Motivation
At the discussion about https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Property_proposal/haplogroup there was a desire to have two different properties for mtDNA and Y-DNA. ChristianKl (talk) 12:06, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- Discussion
- Support Application doesn't necessarily have to be limited to ancestry tracing either. There is interesting research going on about how belonging to different mtDNA haplogroups can affect disease outcomes such as stroke, or mitochondrial disease. NOT advocating for it to be used immediately on disease entities (science doesn't seem settled), but potential is there. Gtsulab (talk) 15:37, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- Comment example here also. Additionally, it seems to me these may be somewhat sensitive medical information that should be used carefully, if at all, on items for living people. ArthurPSmith (talk) 16:50, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- @ArthurPSmith: I added examples. I agree that most good uses are likely not with items for living people. ChristianKl (talk) 17:19, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

- I'm not sure whether splitting into two properties makes sense, but Support having these in general. --Yair rand (talk) 22:28, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
