foliage type
[edit]Originally proposed at Wikidata:Property proposal/Natural science
Motivation
[edit]Plant foliage can be characterized by whether it is deciduous (plants that lose leaves for part of the year), evergreen, semi-deciduous, or semi-evergreen. Numerous plant databases provide this information about a particular plant taxon, including North Carolina Extension Gardener Plant Toolbox (Q111543964), Woody Plants Database (Q111694088), Gardens Navigator (Q110639115), Great Plant Picks (Q112283642), Leafsnap: An Electronic Field Guide (Q111215217), and others. This would be a very useful characteristic to record in items for plant taxa. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 03:22, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Support Normally it seems like this should be handled by some sort of instance of (P31) relation, but taxons are weird in wikidata, and this seems like a good solution. ArthurPSmith (talk) 13:22, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
