Motivation
[edit]"UPRNs and USRNs are centrally managed by GeoPlace. They provide every local authority with a range of UPRNs and UPSNs, from which they assign numbers to properties and streets." (URL TBD)
The UK government is adopting UPRNs to identify properties in the UK (as part of a motion to streamline and increase accuracy of address data). This proposal is just to get the ball rolling on having a property for these in Wikidata (the data isn't released openly under Open Government Licence (Q17016921) until July). Highly recommend you read the government posts I've linked here to understand why these identifiers are relevant. SilentSpike (talk) 13:34, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Comment same problem as at Wikidata:Property proposal/Unique Street Reference Number. --- Jura 08:36, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support.
https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/long-term-flood-risk/risk?address=$1
may be used as a formatter URL (for properties in England only), in the short term. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:23, 9 June 2020 (UTC) - Support. It would be preferable to have this property slightly in advance of the July UPRN release. --Tagishsimon (talk) 22:32, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- Support. I agree that it would be preferable to have this property in advance of the July UPRN release.Watty62 (talk) 13:31, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
- Comment Is the Allowed Values section in the above proposal correct? According to the information page, "UPRNs are integers (numbers) that can be up to 12 digits in length; they can therefore be less than 12 digits long and do not require leading zeros." The allowed values section suggests that they will be exactly 12 digits long, no? Watty62 (talk) 13:37, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
- Example 4 works - using the flood warning formatter URL - with both 112780 and 000000112780 forms. I understood the latter to be canonical, but if not feel free to change it. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:46, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
- You are correct Andy. Example five above also works on Scotland's Improvement Service's [UPRN lookup](https://osg.scot/portal/index.jsp?uprn=009051138577) when padded to 12 digits with two prefixed zeros. Watty62 (talk) 09:29, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

- Support, with the understanding that we can tweak formatter URLs (and leading-zeroes format) in the future if these are used a slightly different way in practice. But looks very promising. Andrew Gray (talk) 11:08, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
