Motivation
[edit]The alphanumeric inventory (catalogue) number Art for the City inventory number (P9471) is not usable in URL adress and cannot link to the source detail. The URL ID identifier is usable. ŠJů (talk) 04:23, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

- Weak oppose I don't mind, but having two 1:1 IDs for one small database seems unnecessary to me. The links are available in the reference of each Art for the City inventory number (P9471) statement. As for Art for the City inventory number (P9471), definitely Keep - an inventory number is likely more persistent than a numerical ID of a web-based database mirror. - @Vojtěch Dostál: IMHO the new database ID are also expected to keep stability and persistence. In the future, we will see whether the double numbering will be kept permanently, or there will be a merger or transformation. We can ask the creator/admins of the database what their intentions are. In any case, at this point it is apparent that the website is not able to search or call any item detail using the old inventory number, nor sort by them, ie. the numbers are really not functional. Perhaps we can assume that the creators of that website are aware that the links to the database (URL ID) should have a long-term validity. --ŠJů (talk) 12:29, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

- Neutral Comments by Vojtěch Dostál are relevant. If these numbers are not permanent, it would only create more mess in the data. On the other hand, if the Art for the City inventory number (P9471) is really not formatable, then there is a use case for the proposed property. So I abstain from voting for now. Either way, I believe that the proposed property's datatype shall be "external identifier", not a "number". --YjM | dc 09:52, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Support URL is more useful than inventary number JAn Dudík (talk) 06:54, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- Support For me is situation similar as X username (P2002) with qualifier X numeric user ID (P6552). This is useful. Please, not remove original id, this kind of values are in catalogs, etc. Skim (talk) 10:56, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose proposed datatype. use "external-id". --- Jura 05:14, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Jura1: This is external id. There is issue in proposal. Michal Josef Špaček (WMCZ) (talk) 20:49, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
