Motivation[edit]

As part of the ongoing project, the incorporation of structured data from Swissubase holds significant value. Swissubase's comprehensive catalog contains useful information such as ORCID profiles, names, surnames, and affiliated institutions. This proposed property is therefore useful for refining references associated with Wikidata properties such as field of work (P101), ORCID iD (P496) and affiliation (P1416).

While Swissubase encompasses also detailed entries on studies and research projects (url https://www.swissubase.ch/en/catalogue/studies/...) those can be ignored as very specific. If there is interest we could however set up this ID also for the institutions, not only for the researchers involved.

The current accessibility to Swissubase's data remains primarily manual, limiting the rate of integration. there is a guideline for the database but no clear summary link for some scrape.

This proposed ID creation seeks to establish direct contact with Swissubase administrators, aiming to acquire structured data that can be imported into Wikidata. The process of obtaining such data may take some time but for sure the manual reconciliation will be performed in the meantime.--Alessandro Marchetti (WMCH) (talk) 15:27, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
