Motivation[edit]
Rostocker Matrikelportal holds rich and well curated data on students of the University of Rostock from over 500 centuries. Given the temporal and spatial coverage of the data, this source holds rich potential for biographical data enrichment. SimonEUV (talk) 10:49, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

- Support and Question: Would this a property constitute notability for Wikidata? In other words, do all former Rostock students warrant a WD item? Jonathan Groß (talk) 13:16, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- It’s certainly a well-curated source but its entries are indiscriminate (which we consider to be a problem). There might also be the problem of vanity items. All in all, I would probably consider pre-1945 entries (not subject to privacy regulations) to be notable but I would advise against mass-imports without very good curating afterwards. --Emu (talk) 19:26, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the answer! Jonathan Groß (talk) 19:42, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- Considering mass-imports, it seems that GND ID's are linked to the Rostocker Matrikelportal entries in (most) known cases (e.g. August Garbe: http://purl.uni-rostock.de/matrikel/200027585 | GND ID 1075867045). This subset of data linked to GND ID's may be considered for mass import with possibly little post-curating necessary. SimonEUV (talk) 09:34, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah, based on experience from earlier imports, at least some basic checks are probably necessary before importing. --Emu (talk) 17:12, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
