Motivation[edit]

The Native Plants Hawaii (Q124029834) website "is a comprehensive and searchable knowledgebase that seeks to promote the understanding and use of native Hawaiian plants." The site is published by the University of Hawaiʻi (Q217439) and maintained by Leeward Community College (Q6516572) Botany, Agriculture, Biology, and Information and Computer Science faculty and their students. For each plant species, subspecies, and variety, both English and Hawaiian common names are provided, taxonomic synonyms, plant and leaf characteristics (endemicity, endangered species status, growth form, height and width at maturity, lifespan, landscape uses, texture, leaf color, flower color, pests and diseases, growth requirements), ecological characteristics (natural range and zones, habitat), and other information such as etymology, early Hawaiian use, modern use, and bibliographical references. Links to photographs in the site photo gallery are provided when available. AdamSeattle (talk) 02:18, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
