Motivation
[edit]Recently law identifier (P8550) has been created, and items of Japanese laws are getting a boost. However, there are few external identifiers for Japanese laws in Wikidata. Japanese Law Index (日本法令索引) is a database provided by National Diet Library (Q477675) and it contains links to full text of laws. --Okkn (talk) 07:38, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]@Camillu87, Gminky: Do you have any thoughts? --Okkn (talk) 07:38, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
- Strong support :It is useful because it covers abolished past laws.(廃止された過去の法律も網羅しているため有用)--Camillu87 (talk) 09:35, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
- Support 改正履歴などもあるので、有用だと思います。--Gminky (talk) 16:43, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
- Comment In principle yes, but has the lawId any official status? I ask because a similar identifier for Austrian laws could also be of service (e.g. 10000138 for Federal Constitutional Law (Q1005391), but its ID seems to be similarly non-official and randomly given by the site (although it has been stable for many, many years). --Emu (talk) 17:06, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- Actually, there is no official mention of whether the ID is fixed or not. However, I think that the use of this ID is permissible, as links to the law pages are allowed in the "How to Use Guide" and, as far as I know, there is no alternative freely accessible database. --Okkn (talk) 22:21, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
