Motivation[edit]

As indicated on the about page: “HbVar is a relational database of information about hemoglobin variants and mutations that cause thalassemia. The initial data came from Syllabi [variants, thals] authored by Prof. Titus H.J. Huisman, Mrs. Marianne F.H. Carver, Dr. Erol Baysal, and Prof. Georgi D. Efremov”. The database is an authority in the hematology community. Some variants are listed in Wikidata, others could well be.
