Motivation[edit]
The HMDB is an external academic database with over 100k entries that contains important analytical information for human metabolites, such as NMR and mass spectra (LC MS/GC MS), a description and ontology. It describes occurrence, biological location, biological role, industrial role, biochemical pathways, health effects etc. This is a well maintained academic database with tons of information and very widely used in the field (its almost *the* standard in the field).
