Missing property who describes the prosess of erecting a construction Pmt (talk) 06:01, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
- Discussion
- Is there any reason not to use fabrication method (P2079)? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 17:20, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
- I regard Tappan Zee Bridge (Q125841) to have fabrication method (P2079) by welding (Q131172) of steel. But the Construction method is cantilever bridge (Q1429218). The same for a viking ship (Q211969) who is fabrication method (P2079) by rivet (Q212500) of wood. But the construction method is clinker boat building (Q338401). clinker boat building (Q338401) is by the way defied as instance of (P31) of method (Q1799072) of (P642) in building of pleasure and sporting boats (Q893164). Explecit saying that this is a contruction method I think. Breg --Pmt (talk) 19:00, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
- I'm not seeing that either explicitly or implicitly. We're really discussing whether "construction" and "fabrication" are conceptally different, or the same. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:31, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
- Lets say we are making i.e fabrication method (P2079) a concrete wall to build a house by use of concrete wall as a construction method. Breg --Pmt (talk) 20:48, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
- You would make a wall using the material concrete and the [fabrication|construction] method casting. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:51, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

- P.S. For the sake of disclosure, I just changed method (Q1799072) to technique (Q2695280) on clinker boat building (Q338401). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:49, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

- Some more differences for fabrication method (P2079) and construction method. Small aluminium boats can be buildt either in a jig (Q15331) or on a bed or a slipway. The fabrication fabrication method (P2079) is the same but the construction method is completely different. The same will apply for fabrication of cars. Handbuildt Rolls are constructed with a quite different method than a T-Ford from an assembly line (Q455037) Breg --Pmt (talk) 21:33, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
- The boat can be fabricated in a jig, or fabricated on a bed. The method of fabricating cars has indeed changed. Wiktionary defines fabrication as "The act of fabricating, framing, or constructing; construction; manufacture". Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:24, 9 July 2017 (UTC).
- We have I think both given our best opinions so far. So we can just wait and see from now if there are more to discuss in this case from other users I think. Breg --Pmt (talk) 04:04, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

- Comment I'd like to see some other good examples to understand this proposal better. The problem with "cantilever bridge" is that the *type* of bridge is closely linked to its method of construction. I don't think that's generally true for other types of civil engineering, so I'd like to see what Pmt actually has in mind through some better examples. For "cantilever bridge" I would say instance of (P31) is sufficient. ArthurPSmith (talk) 15:03, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
- Comment I think instance of (P31) should have bridge (Q12280) only, or even architectural structure (Q811979) as subclass of (P279) of architectural structure (Q811979). cantilever bridge (Q1429218) is a type of bridge build using cantilevers of different material.< br />For dams the construction method will be as an arch dam, or a gravity dam, arch-gravity dam, barrages, embankment dam, rock-fill dam, concrete-face rock-fill dam or earth-fill dam.
For houses the construction method can be bricks, concrete, modern prestressed concrete, wood or laminated wood. For churches the construction method can be post and lintel, palisade construction ord a stave construction. Also timber framing is a construction method for houses.
In general the "type" of a engineered structure will be named after their construction method. Stave Church of churches constructed by the method of using staves. Timberframed house after the construction method of framinf timber. Breg --Pmt (talk) 18:15, 10 July 2017 (UTC)- As an opposite a beam can be made using fabrication method (P2079) by the way of casting, welding, armed concrete, prespann concrete or exstruding. Then the cantilever can be used as a method to construct a bridge or or a part of a house
The World Trade Center towers included many structural engineering innovations in skyscraper design and construction, which allowed the buildings to reach new heights and become the tallest in the world. Traditionally, skyscrapers used a skeleton of columns distributed throughout the interior to support building loads, with interior columns disrupting the floor space. The tube-frame concept, earlier introduced by Fazlur Khan, was a major innovation, allowing open floor plans and more space to rent. Breg Pmt (talk) 18:51, 10 July 2017 (UTC)- I would like to give attention to tis article who diffes between fabrication method (P2079) and a construction method [1] P refabricated concrete stringers with cast-in-place slab are frequently used to achieve economical and speedy bridge construction schemes. Beams constructed in the form of an inverted T possess on each side of the web a bracket or flange overhang that provides a convenient shelf or supporting surface for the precast stringers. Hence, castin-place, post-tensioned, prestressed concrete (PC) and reinforced concrete (RC) inverted T beams are ... Breg --Pmt (talk) 02:01, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

- We have property for "method" already fabrication method (P2079), so it would be redundant as generic property
- As specific property, I support the idea, but given sources are poor and would lead to confusion. Perhaps we would need a construction engineer to assist with edits.
- thus Weak oppose until more exact examples are suggested. d1g (talk) 20:37, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
- Comment We should select which process (Q10843872) belong to construction. Easiest way would be to inspect individual materials.
- When everything is ready we could convert some P2079 claims to new property. d1g (talk) 20:47, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
