- Motivation
Same principle as Erdős number (P2021). Harej (talk) 14:12, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- Discussion
- These numbers are implicitly counting the number of people between A and B, so the unit is "person". OTOH most of our person properties do not presently make the unit obvious (mostly because the unit data type didn't exist when most were made). --Izno (talk) 14:47, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- There is no reason to specify the unit. Note a person in the same film as Bacon would have Bacon-number 1, thus it is not counting the number of people between Bacon and the item in question, - it is counting the number of films between Bacon and the item. — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 21:33, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- Also, generally I've not seen Bacon numbers with units attached to them in common parlance – same thing with Erdos numbers. Harej (talk) 21:41, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

- Comment Other than for people with a number of 1 (and 0), can you give us a sample for a reliable source for this?
--- Jura 10:14, 25 July 2016 (UTC) - Comment personally, I still prefer this alternative. If one wants the Bacon number, I'm not sure if Wikidata is the place too look for a property on that.
--- Jura 10:14, 25 July 2016 (UTC) - Comment there is https://oracleofbacon.org/ which calculates Bacon numbers based on the more complete IMDb. (A friend of mine used this in her Master thesis.) – Máté (talk) 13:21, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
- That site would work as an external ID property I think as the URL structure is predictable. Thryduulf (talk) 22:44, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
@Harej, Izno, Fnielsen, Jura1, Máté, Thryduulf: Not done, no support. The Bacon number is something that could ultimately be calculated with a reasonably complete Wikidata data set. --Sebari (Srittau) (talk) 18:37, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
