Motivation
[edit]Different from storyboard artist (P3275) because that property is a small title while this property is equivalent to screenwriter (P58). Hddty. (talk) 02:55, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Use film crew member (P3092)? --Yair rand (talk) 03:43, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- please avoid using that. --- Jura 06:04, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

- screenwriter (P58) is sometimes used for that. Have a look at the query for qualifiers and their values I added at Property talk:P58 --- Jura 06:04, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose There is already author (P50) David (talk) 07:40, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Comment - I would support a property for people involved into story development apart from screenplays. This would be quite useful for many animated films (especially the ones produced before the 1980s) which often are (were) not based on a screenplay and for which the use of screenwriter (P58) to indicate the people involved in story development is actually quite misleading. author (P50) does not really cover this because not all of the people contributing to the story were writers (part of them contributed with visual ideas or with short written sketches of plot elements). Could this property be used also for "weaker" credits than "story by" like "story adaptation", "story direction", "story development", etc.? - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 16:20, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Hddty.: What do you think? -Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 12:51, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Valentina.Anitnelav: I think those credits needs its own property because per Help:Qualifiers "a statement should still provide useful data even without a qualifier". --Hddty. (talk) 03:58, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Hddty.: We could rename this property just to "story" instead of "story by". This makes it a bit more flexible in terms of the various ways people contribute to the story. I don't think that every credit string deserves an own property (there are probably not many films with a story director). Qualifiers should be used to clarify in what way the person contributed to the story. The statement would still provide useful information without a qualifier, it would just not be that accurate. - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 06:31, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

- @Hddty., ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2, Valentina.Anitnelav: Personally, I usually rely on Valentina's advice in the field, so I'd tend to follow her proposal. I don't think P50 is a workable option and the current use of P58 seems suboptimal. P58 values would probably need to be reviewed if this is created. --- Jura 10:52, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
